This actually sounds very interesting! Might take a closer look when I get home tonight. Seems like you have got a great range of stuff to talk about and some great content for an excellent price.

Just out of interest is this by the same chaps as portent? Format seems very familiar.

Took a punt on it, anything that only costs a quid these days is good value!

Generally liked the format, what will keep me buying will be if you focus more on smaller niche companies (as you have in this issue) There were several minis and companies you featured I'd never seen or heard of before, and that will always interest me, as I always like to have different models in my armies to everyone else.

More focus on actual painting techniques, both traditional and airbrush would also be welcome. I have to say, some of the writing was a little dry, and something like an unboxing I'm not a fan of when the likes of BoW do as a video, I find it even less worthwhile as a static article. That said, the images are good, and when it comes to minis, the visual is the priority.

Good start though, and I will happily buy more issues as they come available.

yeah,
56 pages for £1 why not!
Turns out to be a fairly good community based magazine.

The layout is a little messy at times.
More than once I got a little confused as the text moving from the bottom of the page didn't match up with the text below it after the page break, the flow disrupted by a photo.
The puppet wars product description in the news weirdly urged me 'to click around this site' ... an obvious flaw in copy pasting content from the web.

The unboxing/review idea I think is good.
It lets us know what to expect from a company in this case 'Ax Faction' - It's basically 'check out what bought bro' which is cool.
I look forward to seeing more companies reviewed, Quality check ‘unboxing’; the great praised and the flaws exposed.
It's important that the items are bought by mystery shoppers or under pseudo names and that the report is balanced...

The Malifaux board series will be interesting.
The Introductions to Ana, Andrija and Marko seemed unnecessary, not sure we needed the history of the projects team!
While the projects actual content was thin on the ground...
But the scope of the project is impressive... I look forward to watching it grow.

There wasn't any figure painting tutorials in issue1... which I thought was weird.

Panic...

I've bought the magazine, and at first glance like the look of it

I'll disagree with Panic and say I liked the little bios of the Terrain building team, it helps to know where they're coming from

but I do agree him that you might want to look at the 'flow' of the text round the images (as I also found it tricky to 'join' the text between some of the page breaks)

I'll be buying issue 2 when that rolls round

Why can I not buy this without having to register? I'm just so very tired of registering for new sites. You should have a guest checkout since it's digital goods anyway.

I guess the reason is you can download the magazine 3 times, so they need to be able to ID you for the 2nd and 3rd shot

(but I'd be totally ok with only a single download and a guest checkout too)

i like the magazine, a good mix of content and the articles are decent length. My critique so far is that your layout needs to be refined. Good so far, but it is rough around the edges. That will bring you to a professional level (since your content is already good). Keep up with this and start developing an ipad app or get this in the ibooks store. Get it on android too! I would subscribe to it, easy. Thank you fro doing this.

I bought this yesterday and it was a very good little read!

The only thing that really dissapointed me was the poor resolution of the pictures. Other than a few pixels it was great!

I'll be in for issue 2 when it drops!

So far I like it. I think my biggest gripe would be the limited downloads of the purchased doc. They track my purchases on my account and so I don't understand a model that would limit my access to something I paid for. With the issues around portable device failures and stuff and getting new devices, a more open model to availability I think would have been better. Instead I now need to also backup these magazines on a personal cloud storage myself.

This would pretty much be my biggest issue as well. The three download limit seems consumer-unfriendly in light of the account requirement.

On the mag itself, I was pleased overall. The Rudyk (sp?) interview was a little light, but pretty much everything else was good.

Yeah, not that it's a huge cost-investment, but it's the principle - especially for an e-zine. If people wanted to "pirate" something like that, they'd just send one another a copy of the file.

For example, I have a work laptop that lives there, and at home a desktop, netbook, smartphone and my own personal laptop. It's feasable/possible that I'll also have a tablet at some stage in the near future. Since I have 90mins-2hrs worth of commute to work each day (depending on how well the connections connect) it's very much the sort of thing I'd download and read while sitting on a bus.

Had a good read of this the other day and I'l just share some thoughts.

£1 per issue is great for an impulse buy and the reason I picked it up. For that value the contents is great.

I initally had difficulty openning the download file as it had a .bin file extension, however once I renamed it a .pdf it openned fine on my tablet.

Being able to download it 3 times is a bit odd. However I emailed it to myself so I have a personal backup in case I loose internet access or my tablet.

I liked the unboxings especially as id heard of neither company

I would really like to see some painting or sculpting tutorials if possible.

I will definitely download the next issue and see how it goes

Edit: Now I've had a chance to look over it I can say 'Well Done!', it's much easier to follow the text between pages that it was in issue 1 (which was my major negative), the content looks great too

Bit the bullet and bought both issues. Haven't gone over them yet.

Side note, I made the Mailbox section!!!

Fair enough on keeping backups of purchases, though at this price point I'm not all too concerned over having to buy it again should I lose a copy.

I'm having some problems downloading Issue 2. Anyone else having trouble?

I re-downloaded Issue 1 to make sure it wasn't me, and that came through fine. I tried multiple devices, browsers, and connection types. No love on Issue 2.

I have an e-mail in to FPM, but I was curious if it was just me having trouble.

When I downloaded them from the 'Downloads' page, both Issue 1 and 2 came through with no file type. They were just plain files.

So I right-clicked and went to rename, then added the .pdf extension. They both opened perfectly after that!

Hope that helps.

Thanks, but that doesn't fix it for me. The problem is that the file always finishes prematurely and is corrupted. It always stops at around 12MB when the file is around 19MB

Great looking mag so far, damn now they have put me onto Andrea miniatures. I can feel the cash burning away.
