Two Tickets to Paradiso!

Thank you to everyone for their entries and to everyone else who cheered them on. There are 19 high quality entries this time and it's time to vote on them! Remember to vote on the images in the Gallery as well when you have time.

If you want to refresh your memory about the theme of this Challenge, you can follow this link to the original post.
It is a good idea to think about how you are going to vote too. Maybe consider how well the entry adheres to the theme and the level of painting presented. Other things you might take into account are how elaborate the entry is, sculpting and generally the rule of cool!

Public Voting lasts until 00:01am on the 7th of July. The winners will be announced a few days later, chosen from amongst the top entries by a hand-picked panel of Dakka Painting Challenge judges. All submissions are presented anonymously, to eliminate conscious or subconscious favouritism(so please do not post which image is yours, or you will be disqualified).

You are encouraged to vote for as many entries as you would like to! Vote for all of the entries you'd like to win as this is the best way to get clear results from the poll.

And here are the entries! Remember that you can click on any of these images to get a better view of them (and zoom) in the dakka gallery.

Just looking at some of these entries makes me want to put all my 40k stuff away and start painting some infinity minis.

Well done everyone! May the best minis win!

Obviously I've been staring at these entries in detail for quite a while now but I've only just decided where to place my votes. I had to keep whittling it down and changing my mind. Still voted on quite a few.

At first I was quite surprised at the vote totals when I saw them but I think it'll take a couple of days for things to settle down and for some entries to pull ahead. Right now there is very little in it in terms of the total votes that will have been placed by the end.

Good luck everyone, I loved all of the entries and really struggled to decide where to vote. Everyone should be seriously proud of what they have achieved.

I'm also glad to see that the competition is doing a good job of raising awareness of the game and recruiting some new fans!

We say it all the time but the detail you guys are painting in is insane! Infinity miniatures are so much more petite than most ranges people are used to in the hobby. I'm sorry to say that there is some exquisite pinhead scale freehand on one of these miniatures but I doubt anyone will even see it. The entrant didn't choose the best angle(s) to show it off and due to complication the image had to be stretched to fit the rules at the last moment. I think it'll do rather well anyway and I hope they post better images after the judging is over and they get some more time.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling on and let you all enjoy the pretty pictures.

Same here!

This is going to be a long week. I know I have no chance of winning, but I'm just curious to see how many votes my mini gets.

Can I claim a moral victory for only having a single day to fully complete my entire entry due to delayed shipment?

Fine by me

I worked on mine for a month, but only had sporatic time to do so with kids and whatnot. I hope that if the next painting challenge has a theme I'm interested in I'll be able to up my game and do a better job.

Hmm, good selection of entries this time around! Sadly, I wasn't able to join this time around because of work. Pity: I'd like to know how I would fare with this lot.

Entry 10's the best one for me. The colors are not flashy but the detailing and blending is smooth. I can recognize this brushwork anywhere and, well, you have topped yourself yet again good ma'am/sir/alien.

The Jotum's also good. Clean, sharp lines.

Sun Tze is also pretty good for me, but I still like Entry 10 better mostly because it's presented better.

I really wish Entry 18 has a higher resolution photo. It looks good but we can't tell because it's pixelated. Hope that can be fixed somehow, since it'll hurt it's chances and it looks pretty well made.

18 was the entry I was commenting on. It's outstandingly beautiful but the entrant is having trouble providing anything better to present it. It's was an image almost half the size required but I really didn't want to reject it so I said I'd stretch it to size for them so it could be entered.

It will undoubtably lose votes but as we discussed at length during Infinity and Beyond, presentation is a key element in these online competitions. Hopefully we will get better pictures after judging so we can really see it's quality but this will have to be a lesson learned this time I'm sorry to say.

I'm very surprised at the way the voting is going on some entries. Everyone has done beautiful work, I only wish I could produce something half as good as any of these. Many entries I expected to blast their way to the front are limping a bit in the race but I think this is because I gave extra points for those really embracing the theme elements.

It's all still to play for though, good luck to all of the entrants, you should all be really pleased with your work!

I wish i really wish i had got some infinity models in time to enter like i intended! :-( but my lord the competition would have been FIERCE! there are some truly spectacular works of art entered and some very inspirational and well thought out dioramas, seriosuly well done to all the entrants and you all deserve a win!

Now that was a tough call. Some entries had an edge on painting, others on theme/basing, but comparatively few had both in good measure. My first cut left fully half of the entries, but I managed to pare that down, in the end.

My split-criteria voting style appears to be in the minority, though, looking at the current standings (probably talking about the same entries as Casey's Law's "limpers"). My personal congratulations go out to those middle-of-the-pack P&Mers who went for broke on the theme and still managed impressive, if not completely mind-blowing quality. All entrants have something to be proud of, but I think those guys really capture the spirit of the competition.

Hi Guys! First time posting on here, I missed the deadline for entry to the competition do to time confusion but Casey told me to post anyway to get some feed back from you guys. First time ever taking pics for something as well so next time I'll do a better job of making a back ground! This is a Cateran Sniper conversion with a T2 rifle for my CHA.

Nearly 1000 votes. Wow. How many votes were there by the end of the last one?

Edit: nice sniper man, I would have voted for that one in addition to the others.

Really great job OldQueen, I'm glad you're posting it up and I'm sure you'll get some feedback on it. It was a real shame you were confused about the entry date but you, like the others, should be proud of your work.

Did anyone else use this as a good excuse to start playing Infinity? I bought myself a Shasvastii expeditionary force starter box today! Just waiting on my new paint set to arrive.

Pretty sweet model OldQueen, welcome to Dakka!

I LOVE the idea. I'm a very big fan of the Cataran but I hate using duplicate models. I have a spare Sniper Foxtrot so I will attempt this as well.

Some comments that i shall make are that the barrel and muzle brake look a little large, the muzle brake especially looks almost comedic but i understand that you are replicating the T2 sniper rifle from the Cataran. The painting itself is superb and it is a bit of a shame you missed the deadline :( could you post another pic showing what i assume is tartan on the back of the camo cloak? Maybe also a view from behind?

IDK it reminds me a lot of this rifle http://www.barrett.net/firearms/model95 . Having handled it IRL i'll say that the muzzle break on that thing is comically large. Maybe it is still a little large in proportion to the model but i kinda like it
