Also, where are those scarecrows from? They are great, and I love how you have painted them.

Thanks. You can blame the Perry twins for the poses

The only ones I had anything to do with other than sticking the arms on were the mercs. There is only one version of that body type, so I hacked the legs off a few other figures and added them onto these bodies for a bit of variation

Speaking of Crooked Dice, the next batch are all CD miniatures

The first two were a Christmas present for a friend. He likes the Prisoner... so what better?

Another friend loves Ghostbusters, so here's who came calling for him

Sadly in both cases they still have their gloss undercoat to harden them up. The photos were taken on Christmas eve about 15 minutes before seeing both friends and my matt spray was misting things up, so I daren't take the risk. One day I'll borrow them back and take the shine off.

The next lot are for my pulp/7TV collection.

First up, you have to have some bobbies to defend a village

Though I'm not quite sure what they are going to do against weeping angels...

I noticed Banana suit guy in the group shot, figured it had to be soon.

I still don't have my S3 stuff. Makes me sad.

So you noticed banana-guy, but missed the metric-feth-ton of zombies?

My season 3 stuff turned up about a week ago and is all very pretty. Still slightly shocked that the Fantasy version starts on KS in the not too distant future...

Nice to see you back this way.

The bobbies and angels are very nice, as are the pressies.

Really love those merc crossbowmen though, they're the standout for me so far from your latest. Can't pinpoint exactly what it is that makes them so, they just really appeal to me. Good job

As Whale somehow managed to miss them in the lineup photo...
here are one or two zombies

Those marked the end of all my Season 1 and 2 zombies... giving me a full horde that looks something like this:

You can see the one full colour Abomination in the crowd. Seeing this photo and the impact he has, I've decided to go back and paint up the other abominations in full colour to make them more terrifying in the crowd. Now season 3 is upon us... the zombie pile has grown. Or should that be the zombie pile has groan?

I was starting to get in the swing of things for the b&w zombies. The very first photo took 4 hours to paint. And sadly then another 4 hours to rebase :/

The other thing you can see in the photos is the fact that I've *finally* bought a gaming matt. One of the aims for this year is to get some terrain to use on it. The collection so far is a bit pitiful

That is some amount of zombies, I really like the black and white scheme on them. Isn't there a Kickstarter due for a dungeon crawler based Zombicide? I fear there may be even more zombies in your future.

I really enjoy the CD miniatures too, they do some very characterful sculpts of tv and sci-fi staples.

I am in a similar situation when it comes to terrain as well, good luck increasing the collection.

There is indeed a fantasy Zombicide coming in a month or two... so yeah. the horde will be growing quite a bit more. I should really take a photo of the full standard zombicide horde, including the unpainted bits. It's somewhere in the region of 350. Just terrifying.

That is indeed an impressive zombie horde. I've only managed about 20 from season 1 so far, but luckily (for my sanity and time) I managed to avoid the next seasons.

If you can, check out Face Off season 7 episode 6. It's got some twisted Oz themes. The flying monkies in particular are pretty stellar.

This thing is pretty cool too. https://archonia.com/comicshop/en/article/77453/

I'll see if I can find that, thanks. It sounds interesting

Remember waaaaaay back we (myself and Arakasi) went on that sculpting course at GW and I started to make some skeletons?

Well, I finally got around to finishing them!

I did them as a selection of different skeleton types so there would be options in WQ or Dungeon Saga.

There seems to be a lot of Dead Things so far... we'd better have something living soon!

These next 8 figures venture into something completely different for me. 40mm gladiators for Gripping Beast's game Jugula

Each set of 4 represents a gladiatorial school to fight to the death, so this is actually a complete game *woo!*. The first time I've ever had everything needed to play both sides of a game

The models are solid metal, with separate weapons and heads to allow you to mix and match the parts. Unfortunately I'm not a massive fan of the models. The detail is blobby and uninspiring to paint... though they do paint up quickly so there is that I guess.

They certainly don't appear too shabby * although I am on my phone.
Do the fighters come searately? At 40mm might be able to farm a few pieces off to both 28 & 54....

So, a few more pulpy characters from the painting table

I decided to see what a tiny bit of greenstuff and a different paint job could do to convert the "Not-Spike" into a "Not-Constantine"

Both of these are winging their way to Canada to a friend as a present. Not too keen on the tie or the brown coat on Constantine, but I ran out of time... he's happy with them though, so that's all that matters, right?

Tomorrow is Salute and we get to see the shiny Maelstrom's Edge figures in person. At the moment I'm backing the KS, but I'm on the fence about the Epirian models... some of them look quite nice, but some look a bit ham fisted. I finished the two novels this week and was surprised by how well written they are with some excellent characterisation. Some parts were a little bit generic, but this is the first foray into the MEdge world... so it can only get better over time. I'd highly recommend them if you want a good read though. Very tempted to pick up physical copies for a friend's birthday tomorrow

Salute was fun, though I failed in this year's objective of actually playing some demo games as everyone wanted to see everything. Next year I may go on my own

Was great to see the MEdge stuff in person as well as meeting a few of the Dakka regulars, including Winterdyne, who I've not seen in about 15 years!

On a different note, we've still not caught up on the winter painting... next up we've got a pile of russians for Bolt Action.

8 SMGs, one of whom is carrying a molotov for good measure

3 more riflemen

1 sniper. One of the riflemen will be used as his second.

and 1 molotov wielding lunatic who seems to have forgotten his other weapons.

Well, I can tell you guys don't like Bolt Action, so let us move on to different things and get this backlog over with shall we?

I have plans this year to try and build up a small English country village so I have something to fight over in various skirmish systems. Mostly Strange Aeons and the various incarnations of 7TV. Every village needs a statue to go in the graveyard. I still need to put this on a stone plinth, but you get the gist. I picked up a few buildings at the Sarissa stand at Salute. These are slowly coming together, though they aren't brilliant.

I've also made a small dent in the mythos related backlog with 12 tentacles from Shadows of Brimstone. These will be useful for pulpy/fantasy skirmishes too

Yes, they are done in the colours of Day of the Tentacle on purpose

Back to Fantasy for a bit. This was one of the Forgeworld event models from a few years back. You remember... when they did Warhammer models briefly.

The Skin Wolf was a gruesome concept with some excellent models that tower over everything else

OH-I Wanna get out of here

It's less a matter of dislike for bolt action, and more a matter of not being familiar with it, and not really into the setting.

Skin Wolf looks great. I have one as well, not sure what it will get used for.

Don't worry, the backlog is nearly done... then we can move onto current bits and hopefully sort out that damn Tin Man!
