Hello rivet lover of Dakka, been a while since I have posted, but this is too good not to share.

Step one, get this stuff called Darice mesh, it comes in all colors and sizes at places like ac moore. I use it alot to make grates and industrial floors in terrain.

then find a straight edge

and slice off a solid line with an exacto blade, leading the nubs behind

Then cut off the nubs to get a bunch of rivets in one go

you can also make things like rivet strips or ammo belt using this technique, enjoy

Flickr and Dakka seem to be opposed to eachother. I think it has something to do with flikr not showing pictures unless you're logged into it, or something. Can always upload the images directly to dakka, that seems to work best here, although I hear good things about photobucket too.

Its a pretty good way to get rivets if you like that style for sure. I've been toying around with microbeads myself as I like the look, but these could be handy.

ummmmmm no , because that stuff doesnt bond super well with all super glues , and you can still screw it up if you dont cut it exactly right , leaving crooked bolts .

a foolproof way is get a sheet of shrinky dinks and a hole punch . punch as many holes as you need rivets , heat as directed , and you get perfectly uniform rivets , and can even do shapes if you get special punches from the scrap book section .

i cover this and more in my BGG blog . http://www.boardgamegeek.com/blog/545/dust-is-warrrrrrrrr

I will have to try she shrinky dink things, the one thing you cant do with my method is shaped.

He did say fastest, not super uniform rivets that bond well with all superglues

That is a novel approach. It's also considerabely slower. You are punching out all the rivets individually, and then baking them.

Would it not be easier (and better) to just get one of these cutters - http://amzn.to/1mfByVh - set the stop for the thickness of rivets you want, buy some appropriate sized styrene rod stock, then quickly (and accurately) cut all of the rivets you need?

you would be amazed how fast you can punch them out with a simple hole punch , and bake up a batche of several hundred UNIFORM rivets .

i have one of those , the problem is that doing anything really small is kinda hard (and you end up with cuts on your fingers from trying to get them when they stay nextto the blade) , and they arent always uniform , as the blade may bow as its cutting down so they end up ugly .
