That is going to be so jarring for show viewers. I am sure they had their reasons like schedule conflicts and such. But they basically made him the main character in Danys final few episodes and felt like they really needed to justify why Dany is attracted to him. I think it could also really send out the wrong impression that he is a bit character when D&D has actually already went to some length to make him a major character considering how little screentime each character gets now in general and compared to the books; with several additional/highly edited scenes.


Also I am praying another rumor I heard is wrong about them casting Brown Ben Plum. Addressing the existence of minor characters will only detract from the main characters and plot even further. I do not want to hear Brown Ben go over his life story.

Roseanne did it with the blonde daughter, I don't remember The Fresh Prince doing it though.

She wanted more money because she wasn't getting written in to enough episodes(sitcom actors being paid per episode they appear in of course) so they found someone else who would play ball for what they were paying.

That would be Jaimee Foxworth. She was let go from Family Matters in the fourth season but bounced back doing pornos.

Surprisingly, even with the pornos, her story isn't as comically horrific as that of Lindsey Lohan or Amanda Bynes.

Is the thread title correct? recasting Daario means changing the actor, the OP is all about upgrading the characters role.

I'm probably OK with this, the guy who played Daario was pretty underwhelming anyway.

He is part of a very poor story arc for Dany IMO.

She goes all soft and pathetic at a time when she needs to be strong - hopefully the TV show will handle their interactions better..............

The mother was replaced after the first season by a different actress. The second season actually made several off-hand jokes about the change in the earlier episodes.

And Roseanne had possibly up to 3 different actresses playing the eldest daughter; one of whom was Jewel Staite (sp?) aka Hailey from Firefly. She was on Roseanna back when Joss Whedon was writing episodes.

And I don't think it was the girl from Family Matters who went on to do porn; I think it was the middle daughter from The Cosby Show.

It was Sarah Chalke who replaced Alicia Goranson as the daughter on Roseanne. Jewel Staite was never part of the show.




And also, i don't want to come off as too much of a nazi here but because it's gonna grind on me if i don't correct it, her characters name on Firefly was Kaylee not Hailey.

And what does it matter if they change him between seasons, the show is already so divorced from the books that it doesn't matter in the least if one of the actors gets a new face.

Interesting news, any speculation as to why they recast him? I personally rather liked Ed Skrein as Daario, so I’d be surprised if it was an issue with his performance. The only issue was that he was almost too ‘pretty’ to play a warrior convincingly. But I liked the fact that he was almost the complete opposite of Khal Drogo.

I was really annoyed at the decision to recast Gregor Clegane. Ian Whyte doesn’t seem half as imposing as Conan Stevens. Mind you we haven’t seen Ian Whyte do any action scenes as Clegane so I may change my mind in the future.

As someone who refuses to read the books but loves the show, I was deeply disappointed when 'roguish merc smoothy' shows up, after Deny's been so effing amazing at building a terrifying army, burning bad guys with dragons and generally being hardcore, she wilts and goes all giggly and he wiggles his eyebrows at her in the bathtub.

This character turned the conqueror of the world into a simpering fangirl and if this is also how it's handled in the books, lends credence to the notion that GRRM can't write strong women properly. If they just wanted to skip over this 'blossoming romance' and get back to 'the girl who builds an empire', that would be A-OK with me.

She is meant to be, what, 14 or something (I can't remember exactly). You'd expect her to giggle and stuff at a boy eventually.

Dany is meant to be 14?
