We're less than 2 weeks away from the first game of the season.
I'm a big St. Louis Blues fan... here's some news: -Alex Pietrangelo signs seven year contract extension! He's the guy that the Wing's coach claimed to have "the wand of god".
-We're going to have a full season with Jay Bouwmeester.
-I think we'll have one of the best defensive groups in the league...
-Our forwards need to take the next step up in order to hang with the likes of the Blackhawks and Bruins.
-Our old nemesis the Wings moved to the east coast. Not sure if I'm sorry to see them leave... we've had some epic battles.
-NEW DIVISIONS!
First game is on 10/3 vs Nashville Predators.
Who else is stoked for next season?

Red Wings main line went up against Penguins main line, and we effectively shut them down. That was heartening. Our AHL crew went up against Chicago's main line, we gut shut down. Not that surprising.
Super stoked about this year. Cannot wait for Oct 2nd.
That is a lot. Sen's will be visitors, so look for seats on the opposite side of where the BJ's will attack twice. It's always cheaper, and since you'll be cheering the visitor, you'll enjoy the seats more.
okay, so if I'm looking at the Nov 5th game against the Bluejackets in Columbus, I would want section 224 or thereabouts?

I am pumped as always for the start of the season, but I have a feeling that I'll be in for some repeated heartbreak now that the Capitals are members of the newly minted "Metropolitan Division."

The Caps are about to learn what it means to have to fight for a play off position. I don't think they've got what it takes.

They know what it's like to earn a playoff position, they were members of the Patrick Division years ago... and if their uninspired play from last season is any indication, they most likely don't have what it takes.

Just bought an Alfredsson jersey off of ebay for 50 bucks. Gotta rep my team, and even though he's not with the Sens anymore, I still think Alfredsson is a damn fine player

Puuuumped isn't even the right word. The girl and I got tickets to the second Blues game this season. Might go to a pre-season game this weekend if time permits it.
I'm also kinda bumed to see the Redwings leave the division...I liked them more than the Blackhawks
Gathering the co-workers. We have 2 Blue Jackets fans, 1 guy that wants to tag along, and me the Sens fan, so once I get confirmation of them want to go and giving me money, I'm gonna buy the tickets. If not then I might just take that day and the next day off and go by myself. Why?

Hockey fans are learning of all the new little rules the NHL is implementing for the 2013-14 season. There's the new goalie pad regulations, the jersey tuck rule and one that affects fighting. Beginning this season, players will be given a two-minute penalty for removing their helmet before a fight. One bout could equal seven penalty minutes for a player.
Brett Gallant of the New York Islanders and Krys Barch of the New Jersey Devils found a way around it before their second tilt Thursday night: both purposely took off the other's helmet.
Every rule has its loophole and Gallant and Barch have found it for this one.
From Rule 46.6:
Helmets - No player may remove his helmet prior to engaging in a fight. If he should do so, he shall be assessed a two minute minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Helmets that come off in the course of and resulting from the altercation will not result in a penalty to either player.
Because this loophole has now been discovered, it won't be long before there's yet another rule ensuring that if this situation were to occur again before a fight, both players will be assessed an unsportsmanlike minor penalty. Count on it.
Barch and Gallant would end the night with three fights and a game misconduct for each after the trilogy ended.

Day 2 of the regular season under way. Some good match ups so far.
Real happy with Detroit's performance so far tonight. Up 2-0 after the 1st, and they did an amazing 5-3 penalty kill. Our off season acquisitions are certainly paying off so far. They're playing great.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Watching the Toronto and Philly game as well. Oh my god is this what we can expect in the East?
The West doesn't have a level of dirty to match what I've seen out of Toronto tonight... it's disgusting.

The Colorado-Anaheim game really surprised me last night. I wonder if they've got it in them to keep it up. Maybe Roy will do to them what Hitchcock did to the Blues.

I'm pretty excited to see what the Devils can do this season... Defensively I think we're all set (I'm a bit pissed about losing Alexander Urbom to the Caps via waivers), especially with Schneider in the net (sorry Marty, but if preseason is anything to go by you might have lost your edge :(), offensively... we have a lot of potential powerhouses that can get us the cup...
