I'm not a huge fan of the current GW model for the Lord of Change, and while I've heard rumors of upcoming plastic Greater Daemon models, they were supposed to come out with the new Daemon book but never materialized.

I'd like to have the finished model contain mostly GW product so that I could use it in tournaments in GW stores. What I'm looking for is some good starting places for the conversion. Would you take the current LoC model and add other parts to it? Or would you use other models as a base?

I'd like to end up with a bird-themed, winged, bipedal daemon about the same size as the current model.

Any suggestions?

Daemon prince kit and the island of blood griffin model work well together.
Even the banner from the horrors kit makes a good staff.

Something like this: (not my model)

While I'm not crazy about the feet, I do like the overall look of that one. Someone at my FLGS suggested the Cockatrice from Warhammer Fantasy as a decent starting point.

I love the look of this one, but I'm not sure what was used in the conversion, and I think it might be a bit too big for a normal game of 40k. And my green stuff skills are very much at the beginner stage right now, I couldn't replicate this even if I had all the parts.

Looks like a Balrog crossed with the griffin.
Amazing work but too much for me - there other one I like too & I might be tempted.
