Well, so far my issues with missing pieces have mostly be relegated to older figures. So far, the only exception to that has been my Gwailo. At least it isn't that prevalent of a problem and CB is usually pretty cool about sending replacements. I sent an email to them about it since the Tiger Soldiers didn't even have a complaint code with them. Hopefully they'll just want a picture of what I had in the package and they can ship me the correct arms. Of course, that particular Tiger Soldier will be invalidated with their new profile. So, if they can't send anything, I think I'll accept the mispack's challenge and attempt to mod that incorrect arm to actually fit onto the HMG guy.

Should be pretty manageable, though I say this without seeing it. There's always the cop-out bandage or baggage to cover it up too

Well, so far, no response from CB. I think I'll wait another day or two before emailing them again about it.

I've spent my time this week, so far, working on my Enforcer Strider for Deadzone. I just got the main model finished. All that's left is to do the basing as finish it all off with a spray-on dull coat.

In this second pic, I wanted to show the blending job I attempted to pull off on the cockpit glass. This is probably the second time I've actually attempted blending and even though it took a little while, I think I actually kind of pulled it off.

That glass looks good. The colour tone can convey the sense of it being a water-filled compartment though. This is not necesarrily a bad thing.

Nice blending work!

Nah, I just hadn't glued it on completely yet. My next order of business is to work on some zombies and the Stuntbot.

Well, I didn't get as much done tonight as I'd have liked. Most of my time tonight was spent trying to learn how to do German tank camo without an airbrush. As a result, I only got two zombies painted up.

The ones I painted wound up being the two I did in hazmat gear.

The skin on the right-hand guy is kind of dark. The guy on the left was made pretty much out of spare parts. Mixing in some fantasy bits gives you some funky, misshapen zombies that actually fit in quite well with the fluff. I mean, these guys are people who couldn't quite fully mutate, so they should look all kinds of messed up.

More angles.

They're still fitting in well with my other kitbashed zombies.

As for the Stuntbot, I've begun assembly, but not painting. I wanted to do it up in German style camouflage, but I'm not confident in my skills to replicate it. Especially not without an airbrush. So, I tracked down a decent tutorial and tried to learn how to paint the camo style I wanted.

Here's the test model for it.

I'm trying to replicate the soft-edged look that most German WWII camo patterns had. I don't have an airbrush, so this was sort of difficult to do, despite how simple it looks. I think I went a bit heavy on the weathering though. When I do the Stuntbot itself, I'm going to leave the weathering out and just dip it instead.

Some of the German 3 tone camo also had hard lines
Base of sand yellow the brick red and the olive green But you do have soft blurred or "feathered" edges to the darker parts, so good deal there

I like your growing zombie horde, going to have to add my KoW zombie bits to my new zombies straight off.

So, you think I should use a redder shade of brown then? I've got a more orangey shade, but I just used what the tutorial suggested, which was Chocolate Brown and I'm happy enough with how it looks.

My dad wanted me to post a picture of the bike completed after I showed it to him, so here's how it looks.

The bike, btw is the Puppetswar not-Space Marine bike. I'll admit, the rider is a rushed job, but I don't really care. It's good enough.

Now, about that naked cyborg in the updated title....

Yep, she's definitely nude. These are kind of weird figures. Urban Mammoth's Urban War/Metropolis line has a bunch of basically naked cyborgs in one of the factions. Even the male ones are pretty much only wearing the odd codpiece. It's kind of odd, because all of the official pics of the Artemis Class Biosynths (what this figure is) are painted with tops on, but they're all sculpted to very clearly be topless. I think, not counting my Wet Nurse, this is my first topless figure. I'm kind of thinking though, if I get any more of these cyborgs, I kind of want to do them up like my zombies, with the purplish skin.

LOL, is okay, the bike looks good as is.

Yeah, the original VOID Synths were more clothes and more or less safe for work image wise, Urban Mammoth redid them as pretty much Nekkid what can you do? the original comapny hadd problems, UM took it all over and redid the whole thing and stopped trying to compete with the massive GW as the orignal Void was trying, but did not fall before Mutant Chronicles did.

Trying to go fast in direct competition with a major and established game company was shown in the late 90's early 2000's to be fail recipe. starting small and trying different approaches, or just being a source for alternative army pieces first seems to be working better than just going head to head.

Privateer Press and Infinity went with different plans, and has worked for them so far. Prodos is resurrecting WZ with a different metho and not directly challenging, others are also slow to get things running, but seek more stable growth as opposed to the explosive stuff of the past where mini/game companies shot for the stars before mastering normal flight as it were.

Lol nekkid cyborg. Funny speech bubbles too.

I'm unfamiliar with the various types of camo, but I think the bike looks good in general.

Thanks guys. I suppose I can try and tackle the Stuntbot tonight. At the very least, I've got it primed now. I'll start applying the base coats, I guess.

I also painted up another Retro Raygun Robot Soldier for my dad. I'd hoped to get this guy done before his birthday, but no such luck. At the very least, he'll have this guy join his Centurion and squad leader figures by this weekend.

and remember, these guys are pretty big.

That Enforcer Commander isn't exactly a small figure.
Someday, I need to get some more of these robots. I'd like to give my dad an entire squad with support weapons.

Sweet robot.

I kind of want to work on my own stuntbot but I'd feel bad for the rest of his strike force sitting up on nails waiting for paint.

Hey, it's not like I've been doing any work on my Marauders, either.

I did do work on the Stuntbot though. I've got the main figure assembled, minus arms. Basecoats are applied and the first of the two camo colors have been applied as well.

I'll be adding green stripes between the brown ones, obviously. And then he'll be off to get dipped!

Also took a size comparison, so you can see how it stacks up against the regular Marauders.

Very nice Are you going to paint the interior? I think I'll have to copy your method there, paint the arms separately.

You don't paint the big stuff in pieces GrimDork? I'm kind of surprised. I'd go crazy trying to get some of those little niches and crevices when you have the model totally built.

I see we're sticking with the German theme there. Is that an Afrikakorp Marauder running in the back? It works.

All this Deadzone talk lately got me to finish clipping all my battlezones and actually put some buildings together. My fingers are still raw from it.

Kids were happy and got in a big fight over who got to play with what buildings. Nexus Psi was soon populated by Wave 2 of Myth.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yeah I almost always assemble everything fully, sometimes I use magnets, but I usually just grit my teeth and bash my head against the tight corners. I find I'd rather do that than mess up my hard work by being ham-fisted with the glue and messing up the paint or something.

Gotta love battlezones too

I'm out of connectors, so I don't have to deal with sore thumbs for a little while. Not until wave 3 ships, at any rate.

As for the cockpit, I actually glued it shut. I thought about pinning it so it could swing open, but it didn't seem like there was quite enough resin there to drill through without destroying it. So, the pilot is now entombed within.

I don't know how you can paint something fully assembled though. That would drive me nuts.

Drives me batty to do it the other way Some things it's almost impossible not to, but it's been my default for ages. Maybe a bad way to do, but it's how I'm programed

Nope. Can't do it. It drives me nuts not having the whole thing painted or having little bits that I can't reach.

Stuntbot's almost done! Just basing, a few more details on the buzzsaw arm, and some dip and he'll be done.

Oh I pretty well get those bits, even if it means messing something up then fixing it. You should see the hidden parts of some landscape walls we've built, or like most houses

Bot looks excellent BTW. Really coming along well.

Okay, Stuntbot is DONE!

Alright, he still needs the dip, but for all intents and purposes, he's finished. I could leave him as-is and I'd be absolutely happy with it. Next thing I need to work on for my Marauders is Radgrad. I wonder how long it'll take for me to get to him?

I've also been working steadily on new zombies. I'm trying out some different skin tones so I don't have a huge purplish horde. Much like how I'd like to mix in some civvie zombies, I'd like to have some skin tone variants in there as well. This guy came out looking a bit more ripe than the others, I think.

I also picked up a Steel Legion miniature over the weekend. Why? Why the hell not? He looks cool. Plus, he was very easy to paint. No mixing, no washes, no blending. Just a simple, straightforward scheme that the dip will do most of the work on.

The really great thing about that guy though, is that he fits in PERFECTLY with my Weird War Germans.

Base size aside, he's PERFECT!

No worries, a base is a base. His friends and he do seem to fit nicely together as a squad

Kind of like the Commissar, or other boss by whichever name. With his sword and oversized pistol he stands out and demands respect to his authority. Nice fit.

Zombie looks great too.

You *could* stop work on the stuntbot now, it does look excellent already D:

Huzzah! I managed to complete 5 of Afterlife's Republic Grenadiers tonight! And I managed to do it before midnight, even!

I love the designs of these guys, but for the life of me, I could not get them to where I'm happy with them. Truth be told, I still can't. The blue stripes are too bright, but the other shade of blue I'd used prior was too dark and just kind of got lost in the darker parts of their armor. I'm kind of thinking of just getting rid of the colored stripes all together. I still have yet to come up with a scheme for their powered armor that I'm actually happy with. As with many other minis, I'm thinking of dipping them. Probably going to use Strong Tone on these guys as I'm afraid the Minwax will dirty them up too much.

Hmm. I haven't had an action shot in a while.

That's better.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Yeah, okay, I've changed my mind about the blue stripes and removed them. I think this actually does look a bit better.

Not much to look at, but I also got another Unity Council Marine painted up.

Everything looks good! I think they look a bit colder and more menacing without the decoration of the blue stripe.

So the strong tone doesn't muddy things up as much as the minwax? Is the army painter stuff thinner?

California

I think they have a slightly grittier feel without the colored stripe.

I'm not sure if the Army Painter stuff is thinner. I kind of think it might be. At the very least, the Strong Tone dip isn't as dark as my Minwax, so it's a bit less noticeable.
