I'm going on a hobby hiatus until gencon, because I have a feeling it's going to be expensive. Nightmare Hanging Trees (if they're available), Colette, Dark Carnival, Miss Terious (if I manage to grab one), Alt Perdita (if I manage to grab one), three effigies, Hooded Rider... Yeah, this is gonna cost me.

Almost positive miss T, and kinda sure perdita are gone.

Annoying, but it will make my shopping list a bit lighter.

I think I will be in for the Dark Carnival and an Effigy, that should put me over the $100 price that they usually add in the Miss of the year right? One day though, I dream that they will add the THB Hannah. I really want that model and I don't want to ever use the other Hannah. I can hope/dream right?

TTB Hannah, IIRC, is not going to be sold. So you're going to have to trawl ebay and pay through the nose for it.

I just relaised that the lack of Miss Terious and Alt Perdita will give me the money for the Hooded Rider. Awesome.

And lo, the 2 player starter set appears.

This is a pretty amazing set. The fact they went the extra mile and made them unique models, with their own cards, that are also mercenaries usable by other factions rather than just their own, is so good for a starter. You can start, split the box with a friend, grab the Neverborn or Guild, and decide you much prefer Arcanists. And those Neverborn or Guild can still be used. That's how you do starter forces.

If it's not too much I can see myself finally succumbing to Malifaux.

The poses on those starter figures are kinda blah compared to some of the other plastics they've released, but that is most certainly the type of set I've been wanting to get.

Plus a plastic Hooded Rider. Been waiting for that model.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

That Scion of Black Blood is incredibly bad - like sub Zombicide season 1 bad. The rest look ok to pretty good. I'm not sure about the "over a $100 value" bit. The crews arent full crews, the two decks are $14.50 total, and a full rules manual is $15, and this one is just a quick start stapled booklet This would be a good value at $60-70 or so though. What's the retail supposed to be?

The "everything's mercs" thing is a good choice, and the models are pretty solid minus some static nonsense... but what's with the $100 tag? I mean 2x 6-man crews + a mini-rulebook is about the same... but is a printed book and has 4 more minis.

EDIT: didn't see the decks. Yeah, that's around $100, except newbs can get by with playing cards and vets already have decks.

If you go with their price of $12 a fate deck, that's $24 there. I'm getting the value to be around $120, using some estimates.

Fate decks - $24
Rule book - $15
Orderlies - $16 (Neverborn 2 pack of Beckoners is $16)
Nurse Heartsbane - $11 (Neverborn single models are $11)
Dr. Grimwell - $11 (Same as nurse)
Bloodwretches - $18 (Cheapest Guild 2 pack I found was $18)
Scion of Black Blood - $11 (Same as nurse)
Angel Eyes - $11 (Same as nurse)
Measuring Tapes - $5 (Estimating, no idea their size or design)
Cards - Free (Part of purchase with all 2E models)

That's a $122 value. Granted, the digital rules may be valued cheaper, but it's definitely over $100 like they say. I too am curious about the price point. I'm thinking $60-75, probably on the higher end.

That's rather generous, since what you really should be comparing it to is crew sets minus or perhaps the transmortis set but smaller.

Was there a price for this, though?

Good point. I found the 2 packs to be a more consistent price per model than the box sets. For Guild the ppm varies between $6.43 and $8.33. For Neverborn the ppm varies between $5.56 and $8.00.

I was thinking also the size of the models being roughly the same as Beckoners or Guild Guard that they'd be priced about the same, for the Orderlies and Bloodwretches. Something like the Dreamer box which has a lot of small models and a large model had the lowest ppm count, due to having 9 models, but it's priced the same as Zoraida's box which only has 6 models which are larger.

I'm just thinking about how they could have come up with the "Over $100 value" is all. Only been playing for a bit, so I had never heard of the Transmortis box.

I've not seen a price anywhere, this photo seems to be the only thing that I've seen.

Id assume the poses are static to avoid the problem some sets have of ridiculous bit counts. Like the 8 peice gremlins and Alps. Putting that in something intended to draw new players in - especially those new to the hobby - would be a disaster.

I still feel its a stretch to arrive there. Singles are priced because they still have to outlay a flat base cost for each mold, packaging, etc. They price boxes of figures differently, and generally by sprue complexity. Each mini crew is likely a single sprue, and contains significantly less than any of their faction boxes. The through the breach multipart boxes have 10 figures for $35 with a higher complexity. The standard fate deck was $7.50, the fancy ones are $12, and I'd wager these are not the fancy ones. Also the the quick start booklet is more a stapled pamphlet, assuming its the one already shown. So not the $15 mini book.

Agreed they probably want to keep part numbers down for new players, but that still doesnt excuse the scion. Look at the shotgun stock, and the way the scion's hand is formed around it. He looks like a WIP. Oh well, can't knock it out of the park every time.

I do quite like Grimwell though. I think lots of their plastics tend towards faces that lack expression or character, but he looks great. Must have been swiping from McMourning's private stash!

All good points, Bossk_Hogg. I do believe them with the "Over $100 value", but no way to know how much it's actually worth. I'm still relatively new to Wyrd, so I'm just going with what makes sense in my head.

Didn't know about the old fate decks, have only seen the $12 ones. I could see them doing something similar to the Arcane decks and have each one a different color. I do agree with you that they're going to be basic decks though.

Angel Eyes is an Arcanist? With the Blood Wretches, I'd think it was Neverborn. Dr Grimwell also reminds me of Resurrectionists if only because of McMourning and how all of Grimwell's friends have killy names.

I'm secretly hoping that Angel Eyes is the Lucius-equivalent for the Arcanists and the group is a bunch of Neverborn. Neverborn with guns sounds like an exciting new thing.

It's Neverborn (humans infected with Black Blood and becoming Neverborn) vs. Guild (The Insane Asylum a few Chronicles back).

Justin, the lead game designer, stated he wanted to mix things up with this. All the models are very straightforward, but Neverborn (known for their lack of good ranged options) are getting a straightforward shooting Henchman and the Guild are getting a speedy melee model (McMourning lite).

Additionally, all of them are Mercenaries.

Angel Eyes and Scion of Black Blood are going to add so much to a Lilith crew. Tuco has been their only real shooter for so long. Having 2, maybe 3 with Scion, solid shooters will be great options.

Interested to see what the Bloodwretches are. Liliths brood tend to be fast and fragile, so something slower and a bit tankier would be a great change.

So for Gencon, so far we have:

The Dark Carnival (Nightmare Edition Colette crew with Alice Cooper at the lead)
Miss Anne Thrope (Female Wastrel, but would also make a great Ronin or Desperate Mercenary. Also, this is the first multi-pose Miss Model).

Jack Daw, Colette, and Wong have been confirmed.
It is incredibly likely that Shenlong, Hamelin, Mah Tucket, Ulix, and Kaeris (who has been shown off since Adepticon with her crew) will also make an appearance, barring production issues.

Additionally, there will be a TTB expansion (Into the Steam) and Northern Aggression (an individual campaign) as well as the new board game, Darkness Comes Rattling.

There will also be Transmortis-esque scenario books with kits. These are the Crossroads Seven (Wave 3 Tormented Mercenaries that each go to one of the factions, but the Neverborn one, Wrath, is basically a leader for any faction (so long as you have 4 of the 7 in your crew). Gluttony, Wrath, and Lust have been revealed in the art, but their fluff is meh. Lust is almost a straight Lindsey Sterling pose (+ asian features and crazy hair), which is awesome.

The other book is about Hamelin and Rats. Will likely include Rats/Rat Kings/Rat Catchers (4/2/2 respectively).

The Wave 3 book is called Shifting Loyalties and features Hayreddin (Neverborn turned Ressurectionist) on the cover. It will have campaign rules as well as the Wave 3 models.

2 new decks of upgrades will be out. 1 has all the campaign upgrades (items and Avatars), the other has every generic upgrade for every faction (great if you only bought crew boxes and never any models).

Insidious Madnesses, SnowStorm, Silent Ones (a 2 pack), Komainu, Drowned, Shikome (likely Gaki, Datsue Ba, and Jaakuna too) should all be making appearances as well.

Hopefully Lizzy Lovelace/Missingno will make an appearance as well, but I doubt it. :(

Gluttony was out on the Wryd Forums, Wrath (could be Greed) appears on the cover of one of the books shown, and Lust was given to stores. Henchmen also saw one, but are forbidden from talking about it.

She'll be in Mah Tuckets crew box. So if Mah turns up, you've got Trixie.

I'm not overly interested in Ulix. But Mah will have Trixibelle and probably Bayou Bushwackers, which I do want.

Crossroads Seven

Starter set Fate Decks

Monday Preview blog from Wyrd has the starter set listed for $65. That's a great deal for what you get, imo!

OK, rather nice art on those decks! $65 is reasonable IMO.

Is the band going to be one box? If so, that will be expensive!
