For the Longest time or since at least 2008 when Titanicus and Mechanicum were published, I always wanted to do a Mechanicus theme army. Among recent codices and the Horus Hersey rules, It seems like now is the perfect time for the machines to rise.

Last winter I started to begin on this road and it stalled out after Adepticon. Hopefully my motivation will continue to build it into the future.

What I currently have done is a 1850 Mix of CSM/IG. Plans are to keep it neutral for the most part with the Mechanicus, allowing for it to be used with either the HH, ran as a Dark Mechanicum with CSM/IG, or ran as Adeptus Mechanicus.

Now lets start this Thread off with the 2014 Display board

After a very long stressful week I made a decent chunk of progress on the board, and did start some conversions for a yet to be determined walker.

I used expanding foam to secure the Hangar in place, filling the void between the outer most walls, also planned for it to act as "rock". One side completely different texture thanks to filling 3 in gap with a 1in gap filler. that same side has an open space at the bottom for myself to slide my tablet in, if I want to add sound to the board.

Not so good close up of the Hangar after paint. and with models for scale

ORB: Ordnance Reloading Bot

Start of Walker 1. Yet to be Determined what to use it as. Works for a DemonPrince, Dreadknight, Forgefiend, dreadnought. Who knows at this point. Will have to fill in the text with some GS.

Lights are an $12 dollar tube light LED from homedepot. Supposed to be a counter top light. Pretty simple just made a balsa wood box to house them in, with an open bottom. Glued it to the walls and presto change-o over head lighting

Been a hellish week and half since I've done something interesting. Went from having the small bedroom to having the entire basement now. Had to paint everything from a pale white to some better colors. Bought a new bed in the process and had to redo my painting set up.
Got my Thallax primed and basecoated along with their big brother

And decided to take some pictures of a good portion of the Army I took to adepticon last year. Tried to experiment with the camera and such so picture probably will suck.

Got a Tournament this Saturday and want to take the army on a test run with a different list.

Did A test run on the Nightlord claw, I think I got the lightning and gold trim down, little unsure on the dark of the blue. starts with a Vallejo Dark Prusia Blue followed by a Dark Blue Drybrush with a Drakenhof Wash. The dry brush to wash gets the dark color we know Nightlords have which is good. Should I keep it or go a little brighter?

Welcome to the all new Physh Tank(see what I did there...lol)

Since February, I've been off and on with this hobby of ours. The tournament that I used as a primer for Adepticon went well to my recollection, army didn't do as well, painting and all did wonderful. Going to Adepticon was a blast regardless of the outcome of tournaments because I was able to catch up with my wonderful friends I only get to see typically at adepticon. Think I had more fun game wise in the single Combat patrol I played in vs that of the Championship. Got my Demon Prince and a 3rd Helldrake finished prior to leaving for Chicago at the last minute like usual, Pics below for them. After that, kinda felt burnt out on wargaming in general and started a new job that was my main focus. Tried to get into Infinity during this and really don't have the right day(s) to play with the Colorado Infinity crowd. Went to Feast of Blades last month, didn't do well with the TWC Thunderdome Lite list I took. Did as well as I expected for buying the army and painting it in 3 weeks prior to FoB with no Test games and having the con be my first 7th ed games. Since then, its come down to finishing the wolves up a bit which I'll post later and getting my new project started.

So enough rambling and more minis!

Latest Project to which I am liking the Ivory and blue vs the grey and blue for my test Nids. I can decide which side looks better though, wash only side vs the added highlight for the carapace.

Tested out scheme on a Warrior, like it for the most part. Unsure of grey's for talon and claws, green for eyes, and needing a color for the tongue.

I feel like it needs a vibrant color to offset the drab grey and blue. A bright yellow or orange for the eyes, maybe? Nothing in too great an amount or the brightness will overpower your paint scheme.

Cool looking stuff!

I like the ivory with the highlighting on the bugs though I'm not exactly digging the grey claws.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

Thanks guys. For the eyes gonna try a red with orange highlight to it and I changed up the wash to fixed a color issue I was running into testing out striations. Did Badab Black/Oil or what ever it is now and like it better then the earthshade. Also switched the Claw/talon color to dark sand built to the Ivory I use for the carapace

Been busy weekend with work, managed to get my Flyrants built. For whatever reason I really don't like the tervigon bit for what people use for the Devourers. Made 2 different styles as it sorta fits the Hive Mind mentality of changing up how something is used vs whatever. Also found pictures of my Nid army I had at when the 5th BRB came out, Kinda glad I have a What I used to paint vs what I do paint now.

First up is Walker

Finally got some time to take some pictures and finish up a big bug.

I give you the Mawloc:

In an attempt to save some money and try my hand at some alternative bases, I gave it a shot with some super sculpty. Kind of liking the Green bases with the sky blue vines/tentacles and bright Green Moss to go with the Cool tone of the Flesh the nids are going to have. Also strangely ok with the fingerprints from the sculpty giving it an alternate form of texture vs that of sand or something.

The hangar looks awesome, and the hooded Grenadiers make great Skitarii! One recommendation is to add a white cog-tooth trim to the red robes - I think that would add to the Mechanicus look and spice up the models a bit. I did the same thing on the shoulder armor of my Mechanicus Squats.

Best of luck with all your new Forge World models!

Used to have some biovores in my old nid collections and never cared much for the different look they had. with more and more models switching to plastic and how well multiple Nid kits work well together, decided to convert some new Hiveguard to biovores that I like. They all are a tad bit different. The Green stuff work isnt the best, however I am hoping once it gets painted and has a decent wash to it, it will have some resemblance of fleshy skin
