Saw this show up today, haven't seen it on dakka.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1775808803/rangers-project-salamander-mech-15mm-scale-miniatu

So I like me some Japanese style mecha (as going by my avatar). The mech design and snowy background give me a major Lost Planet vibe.

Model should be about 12cm or a bit over 4 inches tall, so I think regardless of the scale they mention it could probably see some sort of regular tabletop use.

And because I like robot porn, more model shots.

Hopefully they'll get some printed ones up in the near future.

Dunno if this would work as a Tau unit or anything, but I might have to use it as a stand in for something in Deadzone...

Here's all the add on options so far:
Spoiler:

Update as of 06/2014:
Project funded, bulk of casts have been made, and then...nothing. Creator dropped off the radar for quite some time. Turns out the guy lost his job and was trying to get things sorted out. Should be more updates coming soon.

As things stand, looks like kits should still be heading out soon.

That is a sexy, sexy machine. I'd tap that for Infinity.

Duh. Didn't think of using that for Infinity...

Seems like it would fit in pretty well.

I'm wondering how long it will take Barzam to sniff this one out. He's like white on rice when it comes to mecha.

I backed it. I just hope I don't wind up regretting it later. This thing should work nicely as a TAG proxy. Hmm, which will it better fit? Dragoe? Gecko?

Does anyone know what else the creator has made?

You'll regret this one, but you won't regret dropping money on Defiance?

I jest, I jest. I had just assume you wouldn't back it, what with you headed off to Japan to buy more robots in a few weeks.

Oh, I regret that decision now, believe me. And a couple weeks? Try next week. But, I won't have to pay for this one until after Japan, so it's all good... for now...

I'm sure there's some tasteless jokes that could be made here. But, I'd guess that the artist was influenced by the Geckos from Metal Gear Solid 4 and the Ray from 2.

Damn, at almost 5" tall I think it'll be too big for an Aleph Marut :( Might be worth it anyways, this thing looks awesome.

I've been following this guys Deviantart for years now, amazing stuff. I only hope this means we'll see some of his troops in 15mm as well. Damn tempted by this one, and the future it possibly entails

Woke up this morning and stretch goals are being knocked down with reckless abandon.

Mock ups of some of the add ons:

Preview of the thruster pack as well:

All this thing needs are some funnels and some beam sabers. Maybe that should be a future stretch goal...

I'd prefer the larger size as well.

You can just pretend the 15mm dudes are service droids or some other such nonsense if they ever get around to them.

But yeah, those Ranger Project designs would look great in a larger scale.

This. I liked it when I was oogling it till I got around the knees and then my overall impression turned switched to "what's with the deer chicken hybrid feet?". I think a stretch goal should be to unlock something more sturdy looking from the knees down as an option.

My seven year old told me it looks like something out of Gundam 00.

I can see a little bit of resemblance in the top half, but the bottom seems like pure Metal Gear inspiration.

Of course the Gadessa's feet can collapse for flight, while the Salamander's can't.

Considering we've surpassed all the current goals, maybe they'll consider some alternative feet and some close combat weapons as further add ons.

This although I may still be grabbing 1 or 3 of these. However I won't grab 15mm troops.

So!

Stretch goals getting beaten down, and EVERYONE is getting to pick free add ons as this rolls on. Here's how it stands now:

At 6100 dollars everyone gets another free add on as well.

A selection of the available add ons:

Spoiler:

And what's coming down the pipeline:

So there's a 15mm infantry squad coming! Don't like 15mm? Get your voice heard!
The project creator said he isn't adverse to making figures in 25mm, but isn't sure if there's an interest there. I would a LOT of people would like Ranger Project figures that are scaled nicely with their other figures.

Crazy thing is they're shooting to get this all delivered in March!

Well, this is a nice update. This means I can have the rifle with my robot. Hopefully the commander head will have some kind of horn or v-fin.

Commander needs heat horn.

Still waiting to see some sort of close combat solution.

These things are packing firepower, but what happens when someone gets all close and personal?

Those chicken toes aren't going to be much use in that kind of situation.

Is this planned as a product one could purchase, say, this summer, or only available through this KS?

I'm thinking most things don't get a chance to get 'up close and personal'!

Also - these look great but... what would I use one for? Or with?

Infinity TAG? 15mm Sci-fi gaming (Gruntz, Tomorrows War, etc).
28mm Tomorrows war?

Objective experimental TAG scenery?

I think I may pick one up just to use for all the above :p

And backed. This'll be interesting to see if they do deliver. According to their own pitch, production should actually start before the end of the project, so we should see physical copies.

Hey guys. Anthony aka Shimmering Sword aka Shimmy here, designer of the Salamander and Rangers Project setting.
You guys seem to have the most active discussion of our kickstarter in the web, so I thought I'd stop by and answer any questions you have.

Fire away.

Well, in that case... Can we get the infantry released as 28mm? The mechs as is are a perfect size for Infinity.

Hey Shimmy,

Big question a few peeps will have is...Will these be available outside of Kickstarter? (ie if i buy one but need 4 more will I be able to source them later and if so, how much approx?)
