Is the fortress Europe LW book still valid? Or has it been superseded? And If so what book has replaced it?

Yes I believe it's still valid.

Even its predecessor, the older Festung Europa book, can still be used if you don't mind paying ever so slightly more for a couple of the units.

It has been superseded but is still usable. It has Been replaced by the current range of hardback rulebooks.

You can still use it.It is MAinly a Italy book. I really enjoy fielding the Gemans from the book.but it has been replaced by the New FORces book that is with the HB rulebook and the ITaly books. But when i started playing.I bought it it and the old HArdback 2nd edition. It is also good book for making homemade generic KGs.Even though outdated i would recommend this book as a good starter book.

Every book published for FoW V2 is still usable, including Fortress Europe. But it's been more or less replaced by the force lists that are included with the hardback rulebook. The more specialized elements from Fortress Europe that aren't in the rulebook force lists can be found in other campaign books.

Keep in mind in a tournament setting, most TO's won't allowed the Soviet lists from FE as they've changed pretty drastically.
