I spoke to LEGO on a PM a few weeks back about the potential of a 30k Mini/ Micro Board. He response was reasonable and measured, about evidencing how many 30k posts.

The problem is many people don't mark their posts as 30k ones, e.g HH or Pre-Heresy etc.

My case for a 30k board is:-

1. The very different rules and force organisations, weapons, characters within the FW books.
2. The expanding 30k lines from FW,
3. The increasing popularity of these lines.
4. The expanding Canon, expanding and backfilling the earlier elements of the Warhammer Universe.

I would propose 3 key threads?

30k General Discussion Board
30k Tactics
30k Horus Heresy BL Books/ Background

Just wondering if anyone else was interested in this, because I don't play 40k anymore but I do play in group of players who fight HH and Legion type battles as it's more Thematic? Your thoughts as to whether you think this would be used, or useful or even unnecessary given the amount of effort? I just see alot more content around this on the boards, and it would be great to bring it together.

As somebody who has an interest in 30k, without actually partaking in it, I'd like to see this.

Specifically the Tactics section, if people put up their 30k Battle Reports I'd watch/read them.

The background separation might be a bit much though. The 40k Background forum should still be fine for that.

Why not compromise and just have one sub forum for general discussion, tactics and battle reports? See if enough interest can be drummed up.

I'd be interested too - there would be alot of crossover with the background section to 40k, and I could see that getting used often, but taking some getting used to the distinction.

MediumofDeath's idea about a single collective subforum sounds good to me, at least until we see how much interest it generates.

If *anything* it would be a single forum to start off with.

Well Orks and stuff haven't changed much in 10,000 years , neither have the Eldar, You can proxy an awful lot like the interex and MURDER Campaign with those Spider things.

I dont doubt that there is enough interest in 30k for a forum, but does dakka get many 30k threads? I've not seen too many 30k posts in army lists, tactics, or general....maybe im just missing them

I agree with this.

In tactics and Army lists it's much less so, as there this a much smaller pool or players.

But there is certainly content on the HH, Pre-heresy and FW;s 30k rules. Alot of us played the BOLS Set of rules which was out well before alot of this stuff and was actually pretty decent.

We've even mixed it up at my club doing the "Dorian Heresy" where many of the legions are mixed up so it keeps it interesting.

I just think this started off as a little aside quite a few years back 2007, but it seems to be gaining momentum and interest since FW did the models.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have a 30K board. These days I find myself more often than not searching through the usual 40k threads looking for the odd 30k thread. They are there, just lost in the general morass of 40k threads (for example, most of the threads on the first 2 pages of 40k general are only a few days old at most).

Kronk Kronkington III demands a 30k Sub-Forum.

I'd like one too - especially with FW insisting that 30K stuff can't mix with 40K stuff.

Might make even more sense once there's more "GREAT CRUSADE" and "SCOURGING" info out and about!

Well, as always the best way to get something like this is to start creating more 30K threads (and make sure they're clearly labeled as such). If people are interested and keep posting in them then that lets us know there is the proper demand to make it worthwhile.

Okay this is a fair point from YAK FACE.

I'm going to start asking everyone who does 30K to label their posts [30K] because we have HH, Pre-Heresy and all other elements as post titles and one single prefix should start to self propagate once we get critical mass.

Also I know DAKKA has deliberately kept all the painting & modelling blogs together, but the Quality of some of these Legion ones, I'm advocating a seperate 30k Painting and Modeling Board? I don't mean to be divisive and cause all the other area's to want their own, I just think it's such an interesting and specialist sub-set, i think the models, expense and effort would make for a really good reading. It would also be a really quality draw, especially with the numbers or quality posters on this Site.

When I though about this a bit more, It's just as easy for people to put a link in the 30k Board to the P&M one, so there is really no need to do the above, hence the strike through.

I logged in just now to suggest this very thing! I realise it's not likely to be as popular as 40k so wouldn't need as much space but I've recently bought some mechanicus models and came here looking for some proposed army lists and tactics. But there's not much. A dedicated space may encourage more people to post stuff.

I concur and want a 30k subforum so our 30k stuff doesn't get lost in the massive amount.of "I hate gw" and "why are gw.prices so high" threads, makes it happens precious
