So I had been working on painting my Khador army, and I just seemed to lose all motivation to paint all of the hard lines and flat areas of my warjacks. I took a break and started painting my Circle Orboros beasts and have been having wayyyy more of a fun time painting the more organic models. Has anybody else run into that? I was having so much more fun painting beasts that I ended up selling my Khador and starting Legion of Everblight and even the Shredders and Carnivean have kept me more than happy to paint. Hope to hear your opinions!

Weird, you are like the opposite of everyone I know. They find it infuriating to paint a more organic model but the Jacks are easy.

Haha, that seems to be the case I have found. I am kind of the oddball, it could just be that I am burnt out on painting tank like things from so many 40k armies. But I am just happy to have found something that when I paint it i have an ear to ear grin the whole time.

I find it a whole lot of fun to do my trolls compared to 'jacks. Warjacks have an awesome aesthetic, but painting flesh is a whole lot more fun, it's less uniform and more... real, if you get what I'm saying

I enjoy both. Painting is a big reason I have 5 armies. Each is different styles and palette stop I can get some variety.

I was going to have 6 but my brother started khador so I traded him my models. I still might very some for painting though. I had a very cool scheme for them.

That said, I've also painted for my friends.

War jacks, because they usually have a lot bare metal which I like to paint.

I personally don't care either way. Jacks are simpler to paint though.

I did love painting my Bronzeback. He skin tones was great to get together. I painted his skin normal elephant grey, but then I gave him a reddish flush to his upper shoulders and hair spine.

But I dream of the day I pick up Amon and get to paint his manly chesticles!

Painting my Gators was more fun than painting my Cryx 'jacks. I think the variation in greens and material types really makes it something fun.

I find that doing the hoses and gears in joints can be an exercise in frustration sometimes.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I was dreading painting my Witch Doc. I had no idea how to do the gator's "skin".

I ended up with this awful puke green color on him, but then I washed it with Devlen Mud and it magically made it perfect. Now he's probably one of the best model's I've painted.

I like beasts and other organics a lot more than machines. For some reason I always feel like it is more akin to breathing life into them, making a little personality come out. I just can't get that feeling with tanks and machines, as my 3/4 painted and heavy dust collecting armored company silently attests from its lonely shelf :(

So much this! LOL. I put washes on everything.

I have no problems with machines. I find armor and metallic very easy to paint. And I painted so many Space Marines over the years that Warjacks aren't really all that different. Though I think my techniques have gotten a lot better so my Cygnar looks much better than my Templar.

I've also painted a Menoth Army. I had an idea to paint them like Christian Crusaders from the Middle Ages and it turned out really well. The only problem is I rarely play them because I much prefer my other armies. But they are fun to paint. I might expand the army or maybe just sell it and buy a new army to paint. I have an idea for Khador that I think would look cool.

Though I do like really organic stuff. I really enjoy my Cryx because they are a combination of machine and organic parts. Especially things like Mech Thralls and Biles. But even the undead parts of even banes want a more organic look. I also leave my mechanical parts much more corroded and dirty. So they have an almost back to nature look.

Lately I have been doing Circle. I really love them, but my biggest issue is trying to get different color furs and leathers. I have a bunch of Legion to paint as well, but not 100% sure how I am going to do them.

The thing I am the worst at is Skin and faces. Particularly women faces and skin. Men turn out better because they can be a bit more rough and still look fine.

I also just recently got an idea for an undead Ret army from the new vengeance book based on Goreshades Story and the Eldritch. The conversion ideas are endless.

I have to admit that I can't wait go start painting my Deathjack, Seether and Nightmare Cryx 'jacks... they are just so different than the big boring armor plates or my Khador and Protectorate army I had (ended up selling those haha, just lost interest).

If you have any airbrush paint war jacks armour plates becomes laughably easy.

Seconded. If you practice a little, beast and jacks become laughably easy! As for preference, I'd rather paint beasts. Flesh is just more enjoyable to paint that smooth armour plates I guess.

Warjacks, imo, are easier to paint that Warbeasts.

Beasts, otoh, are much more fun and challenging to paint. I guess it depends on my mood. If I feel like doing something quick and easy, then it's a 'Jack for me. For something challenging and rewarding, then it's a Titan with all their trim, muscles, and organic nature.
