Hey guys!

I have updated the packet....no real changes. Some typos, clarifications, final elimination of the "command unit mechanic", and inclusion of the Astra Militarum and the Scion supplement.

Is the awards just prize support or are you doing tropiea as well? Also do we need to buy a weekend pass on top of the 40k or just the 40k.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I am planning on doing plaques as well as product prize support. Yes, a weekend badge is required. Total entry fee is $40 ($25 tournament and $15 weekend badge. Eventbrite charges a dollar or two fee in addition.

All of the pertinent info is in the packet.

Thanks,

Signed up and excited for this even. The missions look cool. Any particular reason 3 out of 5 of the missions are on Vanguard though? Seems like you would split them 2-2 and 1. Was curious if there is some special love of Vanguard.

Best of luck with this!

I was able to visit Borderlands yesterday - brought back memories if when I lived in Greenville...

Love the store, love the city!

Thanks. I went to the Borderlands back in the day in the old, smaller store across the street. Learned to play 2nd edition 40k there back in the day! Glad to be able to run some events now.

I attended the event this weekend and it was great. The organization was great. Plenty of terrain. Awesome players. Plenty of room for army sideboards. If you missed this event I suggest that you put it on your calendar for next year it was a blast. My son who is 12 also played and enjoyed himself and everyone was very helpful with his new eldar list. Thanks to Rob at boardlands for sponsoring the event and a huge shout out to Twitch for all the countless hours of prepping for the event so that we could all have two days of throwing dice and creating memories. He did an awesome job on the other side of the table.

Thanks for the kind words. Rob and I have been working on it for some time, and we are definitely planning on a repeat next year. I think everyone did have a blast, and I encourage everyone to get it on their calender next year. Please shoot me feedback, positive and/or negative, either public or private so we can improve the event.

I will start.

Positive
- I feel the terrain turned out well. I tried to balance it and create unique tables.

- Player base. We had 22 total with around half local and half traveling. I think thats great!

-Very nice armies in construction and in appearance for a smaller event! I was impressed.

Negatives
-We will definitely make the tables a "group of 2-3" rather than a long row. They were already set up when I got there, so we chose just to roll with it. That will be fixed next year.

-One or two of the missions were poorly worded. Thats my fault and will be addressed.

-The achievement checklist award, while I think everyone enjoyed it, may have been too hard to be practical. We will do it again, but I will adjust how it works. Maybe a "per mission" checklist? Feedback on this would be appreciated.

-Overall communication to the players before the event. Look for a dedicated website, possible FAQ, etc

Keep it coming.

Fantastic event. The extra space between tables and quality of terrain really stood out. Other than fatigue in my last game I felt the missions were easy to follow. I took a fairly soft list and felt like I had a chance in every game.

No quibbles or arguments and had a blast all weekend. Thank you for running this.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I also enjoyed the event a lot. This is not a critique of the missions for this year, but (assuming this is relevant next year) maybe try some progressive scoring missions allowing for accumulation of VP's throughout the game. Just a suggestion for next time, these missions were fine.

There were indeed a lot of terrain pieces on the table, none of which were usually more than about 3 inches high. Would have liked to see some taller LOS blockers and multi level ruins. Roofs to hide from barrage would have been useful as well.

Man, I must have had the one table where there were levels. My last game, my opponent had his Ethereal hide underneath a ruin denying me the chance to launch my Nightspinner shot to snipe him out.

Glad 7th edition just got rid of that rule...
