I'm asking this question due to two of my open fire NCO's losing the ends of their mp40's, and I have a spare metal nco, and one from the nebelwerfers I own. If I use the NCO from them, I can replace him with a standard rifle guy. Are there any sort of rules preventing me from doing this?

Not really. In fact when it comes to the basic infantry teams: Rifle, SMG, R/MG and MGs, most players just use whatever mix they want. What is rifle stand one game may be counted as a MG team the next. Most people can't tell what exact weapons a 15mm figure is holding from several feet away. It only becomes important when you get into special weapon teams like mortars, bazookas, HMGs, flamethrowers, etc...

You can't fix stupid.

What Swordbreaker said. As long as it's clear it's an arty command team, you don't need to be that specific with individual weapons. Most people won't be looking that closely at it anyway.

And if the artillery commander actually starts shooting, then it usually means that something has gone very wrong.

They could be armed with Apples for all it matters, even in official games it's not important what specific weapon they hold, no one expects you to own 4 command teams for each unit, just to cover all the options
My command teams and infantry teams are all set up for a specific list, when i use them as other things, no one says a thing about all the Fausts, or Assault Rifles. As long as you tell them when they ask (tell them before they ask too)

The new Panzergren boxed set from BF is all plastic, goes for about £23 on most sites, 4 tracks + a /10 option, full platoon of infantry, bases and decals.
