What sort of scenery? In Warmachine you can sort of go in two directions with scenery. One is that you can have really awesome-looking in-setting items. The other is that you can have terrain designed to be as playable as possible - you'd probably want something stable, low to the table if it's passable, easy to stand models on. Steamroller has a bunch of guidelines on what sort of dimensions you want your terrain to be for tournaments generally and they're surprisingly small.

In terms of narrative kinda scenery, I think it's probably pretty hard to beat railroad tracks. Very evocative of the setting and presumably strategically important. You could also have stuff like coal hoppers!

Most of the books have some number of photos of miniatures on tables that have some scenery on them. Some are in rules sections (the main rulebook has some nice pictures of terrain) and others are in the back where they show off the different models. There aren't a ton of them, but they do have terrain ideas, like grass or stone huts, trenches, sandbags (with or without barbed wire), stone walls, fortress walls, wooden fortifications with ladders, burst-open fortress gates (these seem very popular with their photographers for some reason), carved Circle stone formations or sacrificial sites.

I am trying to make scenery as nice looking as possible while still being easily playable. I also like the idea of water and have started some work on on a river today. I really like the idea of "Ritualistic Sites" for Circle Orboros, especially after reading Domination . I was thinking perhaps large stones in a circle with standard orboros runes? Looking forward to seeing your ideas!

I found a nice set of plastic banzi trees for $4 a pop, hammered them out of their plaster pots and put them on MDF bases, along with some fishtank grass tufts, as forests - easy and pretty good in the end. They also came with a little stone in each, so I made a set of standing stones on one forest. These are old photos, I'm afraid, and I've since flocked most of them (with a nice brown leaf flock, makes them stand out from the table, and looks like a forest floor should do).

I've also used a bunch of pre-made fishtank scenery - good stuff if you need tough terrain. These are just example images of things we use (don't have pics of them in use, sorry), and we have some ruined columns and stone-block walls too:

Now, a friend of mine also made some really cool terrain for the club, which I also sadly don't have pictures of. He made us some small gobber tents, about 2~2.5" square, which are excellent terrain, as they block a little bit of LOS, but don't dominate the battlefield like full sized houses do. They go well with the large monolith he made for us too

Those trees are awesome and that fish tank scenery would be perfect for a gatorman swamp scene. What are those clear crystalline things sticking up from the bottom most tree? I love your work, especially the tree with the orange splotches on the leaves. Keep up the good work!
P.S, Those tents sound very cool, do you have any idea how to make them? I would love to know .

On the bottom most tree is actually a sword sticking out Got a plastic sword from some fantasy kit (I forget where it came from). And I'm afraid I can't take credit for the wonderful leaf color there, those were pre-coloured (and they feel like fabric, so they're strong). I do love these trees though, as they're tough and the look awesome, the leaves are removeable and will come apart at the connections rather than break, which makes them near indestructible as far as trees go, and I haven't glued them to the bases, so they can pop out for packing away flat.

As for the huts, They're made from paper mache over a frame of some sort I think - I'll have to check for you, as they're in the club terrain boxes at the moment (which is kept by a friend of mine). He also made a wooden lookout platform (about 2" high, with enough space for 1 model) to go with them, made from chunky balsa wood (but sadly in current need of repair, as the top fell off). I'll try and get a pic of some of our stuff on Sunday for you

Thanks! I would love to have little tents for my table... I also tried to make a shooting platform out of balsa wood but its unrealistically high ... I'll see if I can chop its legs off or something. Also, pictures would be great, and i'll see if I can get a good picture of the battle field in progress once the water has dried tomorrow...
