this is a list i am using in a mini tournament run by my local store, I've won 2 games lost one, due to forgetting my BSB

50 Archers!? In what crazy alternate universe is that ever going to be effective? I obviously can't speak on behalf of the players at your local club, but I'm struggling to see how this list is going to stand up in a tournament setting.

I can't see either of your chosen lores really being of benefit to this army build either. I'm seriously skeptical as to whether Alarielle is a better choice than a regular Archmage for this list, because with the abundance of S3/4 in the army you are really crying out for shadow here.

You also don't have any chaff to speak of and your only combat block is only 20 strong. What kind of lists have you played against with this army!?

I take the archers because it is an archer themed list, but I do understand your point, they generally don't do much without being buffed by magic which I can only do in 2400... They are currently just to fill core points and I guess they're not competitive at all

I take Alarielle because again it fits the theme, and generally she is useful as a buff character and nobody likes toughness 7 phoenix guard
And the only reason I take light on the other wizard is because the Banner of Avelorn gives him plus 4 to casting Life and Light so it can be useful but most likely I will change the Level 2's lore to Metal or Shadow

That is one problem that i do have, my lack of chaff. This list generally requires good line of sight and hopefully shooting down at least a third if not more of my opponents army before it reaches them.
The Phoenix Guard on the other hand do generally just win combats or hold up enemy units as they just don't die
I have played against a Lizardmen army which was winning until the Slann miscast and died though the archers did manage to kill both a Carnosaur and Stegadon n combat with minimal casualties (that game I won through luck)
I have also beaten a Dark Elf army where again my shooting reduced his army to minimal numbers and the phoenix guard won combat
The game I lost to a Bretonnian army, where he barely had anything left just a Lord and a unit of fleeing peasants, until I got unlucky and his Lord chased a 30 archers down and I only had 5 Phoenix Guard left and he won through remaining points as his peasants rallied on the last turn
Generally though, I have very lucky dice rolls so manage to pull victory from the jaws of defeat, but I do agree with you in that this list isn't the best and should have lost most of the games I have played

Sure the Phoenix Gaurd may be able to hold their own, especially with buffed T thanks to flesh to stone, but at only 20 strong it's such a small part of your army that it doesn't really matter, because everything else you have is so easy to kill and poor in combat.

I'm not really sure what the theme is here and how Allarielle fits in, but I just can't see you getting much mileage out her or the Lore of Life in this list. Same can be said of the BSB and Lvl 2 with lore of light. Your spending a good amount of points here for the +4 to cast on these lores, which as mentioned aren't going to be as beneficial as you think. Unless your going for the 'Alarielle light council' build then High Elves in general don't get much value out of Light magic due to them having good stats and ASF as standard. Add to that the fact that your BSB is very under-protected and when combat hits you going to need him surviving because you will most likely need the re-rolls.

I have absolutely no clue how the archers killed both a carnosaur and a Stegadon in combat whilst taking minimal casualties in return... Haha kudos on that! But I would be treating that as an enormous outlier and not something that is likely to happen regularly, if ever again.
