If my opponent doesn't want me to field them/doesn't like forgeworld, I will plug in another bare bones Leman Russ MBT with a hull heavy flamer that I will put in the list as it's own single heavy support choice for 150 points, the combined total of both Griffon Heavy Supports.)

Griffon Mortar & Hull Heavy Flamer

Heavy Support: Griffon Mortar = 75 Pts

Thanks for looking. This is mostly using models I own and have painted. Will be continuing to expand the list as I finish painting models up.

Take it easy guys

Edit: Modified the Leman Russ Command Squadron to have an Exterminator Leman Russ instead of a LRMBT. Appreciate any and all feedback in advance.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

I like what I read. I've run two games so far with the new Codex, one versus foot Necrons and the other versus Farsight Tau, so my comments may be colored by that.

1. The sniper/lascannon combo's on the squads may actually be pretty effective, if you are fighting more monstrous creatures or high toughness. If that's what you are going for it works, problem is...

2. What is this list's objective? Is it sitting behind the Aegis while the Chimera's range out, supported by tanks and the Vendetta? Because if so, you may find your attack blunted. If the best part of guard is redundancy, you really don't have it here. The now expensive Vendetta is just as vulnerable as it as before to getting one-shot by other flyers, except it's 50 points more. Essentially, you may be more worried about keeping it alive then killing the stuff threatening your Chimera's, especially as those are your main source of AP2 besides the vanquisher and the two lascannons in the infantry squads, hitting on 4's unless the psyker's use their once a turn prescience on one of them.

I will admit, and this may be heresy, but I never use Aegis lines before the old codex, and I certainly won't now, because my guys can usually find cover anyway and I could use the extra points on more bodies (and I will admit my meta has way more AP4-5 ignore cover than I like). 100 points is almost another vet squad in a chimera, making your attacking flank that much more effective.

3. I'm cool with your Leman Russ selection, but one thing I've noticed since using the new dex and taking a Tank Commander, is for some reason all my Leman Russes are surviving battles. I think it has to do with the shock value of the enemy seeing at least 3+ tanks, and having to subsequently divide their AP fire among them. Knocking out a Leman Russ has never been easy, requiring at least a couple 5 or sixes somewhere unless we are talking close melta or close combat, so making them diving their fire between now very effective tank commanders, and other squads of tanks, seems to work well.

Other than that, I'll say having a fat blob of conscripts with a commissar or an inquisitor have been very effective, both at drawing fire and at creating a solid mid table push to an objective, thanks to Forwards for the Emperor and FRSR. Nice and cheap.

Hope this helps!

edit: BTW Red Thirst, I've been a longtime lurker on Dakka, and was compelled to respond to your post because I very much enjoyed your comments during the big IG/AM rumors thread. Good times.

Not to necro a thread from page 4, but I thought I'd at least take a moment and say thank you to ya Lamada22 for the constructive feedback. I'll work on building a bit more redundancy into the list moving forward. I'm currently working on a Veteran only list for the moment. Possibly without any Aegis Line, however I like to have that Quadgun in the list to help me deal with any flyers that show up on board and giving my static elements a guaranteed cover save is a nice bonus (including my vehicles, which when you're fielding open topped Griffon mortars, is definitely a big deal and quite helpful).

Anyhoo, more lists to come, gotta finish figuring out how I want to run the army now, either infantry platoon/blob style or multiple small veteran squads rolling around the tabletop. We'll see what upcoming playtests bring to light.

Thanks again Lamada, take it easy.
