Yo. Today I played half a game where my Blitza-Bomma oneshot a Landraider turn 3 with it's Skreamin' Descent, which would have made the game interesting if we had the time to continue. Before, it's Grot Gunner has shot a Heldrake down in two consecutive games... Of course there's been at least as many games where it does mostly nothing, but man, when that 135 points of flying awkwardness does something even once I sure remember it. That it's currently my most consistently successful unit is just ridiculous. I think I'm going to paint kill markings on it somewhere.

I'm sure a lot of people also use some quirky unit that the gods of dice have taken an interest in, and you probably have better stories than me. So let's hear them.

Not that I expected nothing out of them per se, but never did I think the first round of a game would go this well. My 3 manticores all fire round 1, all get three shots a piece and hit every single damn one, blew half of my buds DE army off the board lol.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

I've had a couple games worth of good luck with these guys. Best time was I ran 3 of them separately as units, they collective blew up 4 vehicles, and all 3 survived the battle!

Krieg! What a hole...

Hades Breaching Drill scattering under a Land Raider, blowing it up, killing some Khorne Zerker and putting a wound on a nearby Carnifex with the ensuing explosion, then the Engineers did something.

I had cultists led by a DA take out harlequins, their falcon transport, guardians, avengers +exarch, farseer and wraithlord in one unstoppable march of death.

They went on to capture the away objective in Emperors Will as well as netting StW, with the DA picking up 5 gifts from the gods along the way.

So what we've concluded from this thread is that Landraiders get blown up by any and everything.

My shotty scouts have for three games in a row worked flawlessly. They go in a storm and move forward onto the enemies line normally in turn one. Double tap then charge is working so well for me I can't actually believe it.

Managed to lock up 12 fire warriors with a fire blade for 3 complete turns then broke them and sweeping advanced them.

I had a bare bones Lord Commissar, modeled with a marching stick no less, punch the lights out of a Iron Warriors cataphracti terminator sergeant. He still died but he will forever be known as the guy who killed a chaos Terminator with a stick.

Got something to say about THAT, Wyzilla?

The humble Tau gun drones that came with a Devilfish did an amazing job in one game a long while ago. At some point during the game, I disembarked them and just started harassing units, and since this was 5th Edition (where carbines were only one shot), they weren't doing a whole lot. At least, until they pulled off some incredible luck.

First, they circled around an immobilized Rhino and fired at its rear armor, exploded it, and killed enough models inside (a squad of Chaos Marines) to force them to run towards the board edge. Then, they managed to survive two rounds of shooting as they escorted the Marines off the board edge.

Two models I literally got for free included with the price of a Devilfish managed to kill 200+ points' worth of Chaos Space Marines through freak luck and a poor leadership roll.

Ditto. I have a platoon commander who has more confirmed kills than my Biker Warboss, and all the Platoon Commander has for a melee weapon is a chainsword. That guy has pulled me out of more tough spots than I would like to admit.

Coincidentally, any time I REALLY need a guardsman/unit to die, they defy all odds and survive. I've seen a commissar shrug off 12 consecutive wounds in a row thanks to a hilarious combination of look out sir rolls and +6 saves. I had a Lord Commissar with a fist knock the special character that gives the cover saves for eldar (harlequin maybe? Whatever is the lynchpin guy for that eldar/DE deathstar thing) twice in one game. I've had a squad of conscripts who killed the lightning Necron warlord 3 times in a row. I also had a stormtrooper sarge that had more kills with a thrown krak grenade than the 2 meltagunners in his squad combined. I've also seen my Master of Ordnance call danger close on a target 9" away and get a direct hit (his BS canceled out the 3 he rolled). Finally, I have a plasma storm Executioner that for the first 3 games I fielded it managed to get over 20 wounds everytime it fired, and never got hot.

I also have a Sentinel who has missed literally every shot it's ever taken, and a Marbo that seems to blow himself up more than the enemy, so my luck tends to balance itself out somewhat. Back when I ran powerblobs in 5th, it seemed like everytime I got to assault, my sarges would ALWAYS fail to wound as well, so that was fun

When I first started, your IG heavy weapons teams were six models, 3 heavy weapons guys and 3 lasgunners. Every game, without fail, my lascannons would miss or roll 1's to wound when I really needed them. But the lasgunners (the ammo guys) would wreck people's days. Space Marine's charging up the hill? Every lascannon misses. But 5/6 lasgun shots hit. Four shots wound, and three marines go down. I would get heavy weapons squads just so I could have those snapshot lasgunners ready for the key moments in the battle.

My venerable dreadnaught got immobilized by a stray blast, he was about to get charged by an imperial knight, his lucky assault cannon, in overwatch, got an "explodes" through the ion shield. This stripped the last 3 hull points and the resulting blast killed a second knight and about half of a marine tac squad on a nearby objective..... sadly Venerable brother Fyodor did not survive.
