A pretty basic question all around. Either in RPGs or miniature wargaming, which play style do you like to play with?

Quality in where you are the few, but strong? Or quantity where you are the weak but many?

Currently I'm playing IG so I'm all for quantity!

Do you mean in terms of game play or in terms of figures?

Figures wise I'd go for quality first, gaming wise I tend to go for horde armies.

In this case I would say in term of game play.

Quality. who cares that you have 200 guys if 10 of my guys are all that's needed to take them out?

For some reason I always go for the highly trained forces more than the horde type ones...

If it takes you 7 ALEPH models to take out 15 Ariadna mooks you're doing it wrong. Achilles should take half that on his own!

quality of course.

I cant vote without some sort of quantifier as well...

If we're talking models, it depends on looks (ie, does it look good in small numbers, or does the horde make it look more impressive)

If we're talking about gameplay, what is the quality of the games rules?

In gameplay mainly with the rules of whichever tabletop game you like to play.

Well VC you could argue is a single quality model plus whatever else you need to make the army legal

Same with Tyranids - a few good models backed up by legions of peons. Doesn't stop both being ridiculously hordey.

Both - the two play styles are different enough that I can get a different experience by changing armie - or even mixing the two.

In Kings of War I play dwarfs - few in number, elite.

I also have a Kingdoms of Men (*cough Empire cough cough*) large number of straight up ground pounding infantry.

The two can be played together.

A Ogre army is getting painted to go with either the dwarfs or the Kingdoms of Men.

I also play undead - and have one Werewolf Mayhem army (thanks, whoever came up with that idea) that has few models, but, dang, werewolves are bad news in Kings of War. I also have more standard undead horde army. Large units of not very good infantry, with nearly one necromancer for each unit.

So, the answer that I want is not on the poll - Bpth.

From an RPG perspective, I'd rather play the Hero than an army commander. Who cares if 1000 mooks were butchered by your army, when it could have been you butchering them? Exactly

So yeah, quality.

For me its a mix of both horde at the front as meatsheild\cc and a few quality units for taking out that one unit that is causing havoc in your forces

this is kinda hard to do with space marines so I ally in guard when possible

knowledge is power
but is also chaotic
