So, I'v been thinking of starting Chaos for some time because then I'd have a army of all three types (Imperial: Grey Knights and Space Wolves. Xenos: Tau and Necrons. And Chaos) and a friend sugested I should start chaos since he realy wants to face Chaos. So for the flavor of fun, I'm looking more into Chaos Marines again (Mayhaps chaos daemon allies..) And I saw these two supplements and was curious, What do the Black LEgion and Crimson Slaughter supplements bring to the table? (I know they will just bring one or two pages of rules, Like all the others)

Black Legion brings EW daemon prices not named Belokor, Chosen as troops without abby, and generally makes non cultist-bodies too expensive to field. (everything must take VotLW) It is best as an allies section.

Crimson Slaughter brings less terrible possessed rules, 2+ save artifact, and im not sure what else. (nothing can take VotLW)

Regular CSM bring the most variety, the AoBF and the Burning Brand.

In my experience the black legion gives you last memory of yuranthas for a very nasty nova power on a DSing termie sorcerer.

Crimson Slaughter adds divination to a sorcerer, which makes all the CSM shooting and melee more dangerous. Give a nurgle biker lord a 2+ save and IWND, which is really tough to kill on a T6 4+ invulnerable model. Gives all your models from the detachment fear...cultists that cause fear!

The biggest thing they both do is allow CSM to ally with them and unlock more CSM HQs, FA, and HS which are great slots to have.

Black legion lets you pay more ppm..... i found nothing positive in that book. and if you have abby you can pay even MORE on top of more to make one unit of termies better.... IF you ever take termies.... as said this is at best used as a ally book, for sorc/lord, cultist, and extra heldrake...

The Main CSM book isnt amazing but i still found it to be reasonable....

oh and if you want divination in your army, you can take daemons, 1 tzeentch herald, 1 min tzeentch troops. cost like ~150 pts. want more of it take a greater daemon then a DP as your hvy support. costs well more but is nasty

CSM 20,000 Pts
Daemons 4,000 (ish)
WoC over 10,000
6000+ Pts

Crimson Slaughter also fits the Word Bearers eerily well...right down to having a slightly buffed up Dark Apostle artifact.
