Hello Dakka!

I wanted people ideas and opinions on a narrative type game I was thinking of trying to play. (anyone who doesn't want to ever play games with more than 2000 points per game may not want to read this)

So I wanted to do a Last Stand/Time until evac type battle where one side has a battlement/fortress or something like that and roughly 6000 points to an attacking army's 10-12000 points. I wanted to make it even more specific by removing flyers, anything with a base bigger than a 60mm round, super heavies, and having it so that the defender may not have any vehicle outside of walkers and may not have any special characters.

8 Turn time limit to capture the objective before evac arrives. The attackers objective is to capture an artifact within the fortress. The fortress is in the middle of the board with 2 doorways (on on either side) and the attacker(s) place units all around the fortress. Rules for the fortress is where i need some help.

I was thinking having the units on the battlements get a 3+ non removable cover save and anything bigger then that get a 4+. Anything in th emiddle of the fortress cannot be shot at as an anti munitions shield would block indirect fire. I want to make it as even as possible on both sides while making the game not a "Shoot from 60" away and ignoring cover saves the entire time." type of game.

I wanted to make the outside walls indestructable but the doors is kind of where i need a bit of help. i need to think of a good HP amount and armor value for them so that they are destructable but not so easy that bolters could chew them up.

Let me know what you guys think and I am 100% open to suggestions!

The door could be AV 13-14ish with 2-3 structure points (6-9 hull points) that would make it difficult, but not impossible to take out.

Seeing the huge difference in points between the attackers and defender, why not give the defenders a couple void shields that surrounds the fortress? That way you can say that the void shields are what is preventing deep strikes and to also increase the fortress' defensive capabilities. This is just a suggestion so take it how you will.

Not really. I am making my own fortress and not using the stronghold assault buildings. The fortress its self is going to be 3'x3' and made of wood that I may eventually etch with a dremel.

But thanks for the suggestions and being supportive of it. My wife hear it and said "Who would want to play a agmae like that? It would take way too ong of doing the same thing over and over again." I tried to explain to her that the state of 40K is exactly that (line up gunline on both sides of map and see who dies faster every turn).
