Noobbomb's Corner

So, I've been meaning to start a P&M blog for a while, and here it is! I'll be posting all of my latest projects here. I'm mainly a painter and modeller (though not that good at either ). I'm currently painting my small-ish Iron Warriors force and I'm meaning to expand them later. I'll be posting my progress here, along with some background to go along with them!

I recently made an improvised whitescreen out of a box and some paper, which'll hopefully improve the quality of the pictures I take! Keep in mind that I don't have a fancy camera (just a regular digital one) and I mainly use natural light sources, and perhaps one lamp.

As I said, my main project is currently an Iron Warriors force. I'll be posting some different things every now and then, too, but the focus will be on the angry, Iron Boys. If you feel the need to say anything, please do so! Any comments or advice are appreciated!

Without further ado, here's some of my painted models!

The Warsmith of my company. He still needs some fixing up, but is mostly done. On each side of him are command models: one Apothecray (Khornate, uh-oh!) and the army's banner bearer. These were made using parts from the Chaos Space Marine and Khorne Berzerker squad, as my Berzerkers are a count-as CSM Squad with melee weapons, and only have ten Astartes.

The Banner Bearer and Apothecary. I still need to fix up the Apothecary's face, and the banner. The banner comes from the Fantasy Chaos Warriors set.

These are the first five painted Iron Warriors. The shoulder pads still need some fixing, but they're mostly done!

Two of the Berzerkers/Chaos Space Marines.

Some more Berzerkers. I'm using Space Marine helmets throughout the unit, as I don't think all those skull helmets befit an Iron Warriors squad.

The Aspiring Champion of my Terminator Squad has been basecoated. He is Captain Rorke, and hails from a roleplay here on Dakka!

I'll probably do updates on the models every weekend, and fluff on... well, whenever I get time to write some! Anyways, hope you enjoy, or something like that!

I started working on my Militarum Tempestus Scions today. They're being painted in the colors of the totally-not-Alpha Legion Alphic Hydras. They're pretty messy as of yet, but that's usually so at this stage with most of my models!

Yeah, I thought they were pretty awesome!

I really like the colors and fluff GW gave 'em.

Captain Rorke is sorta finished. I'll probably get the red cabling to shine out a bit more, but apart from that, the man's done! He'll be the main focus for the fluff of my warband. He first appeared in the Tyranid Invasion RP here on Dakka, as a seemingly unimportant Chaos Space Marine (he was but a Legionnaire, after all!). That pretty much ended when I had him shoot the Captain leading the group (as planned from the start), and though he was ultimately downed by some Hounds of Loken Space Marines, he managed to escape along with an un-Iron Warrior-y Space Marine (who became a Possessed). He's one badass mofo, angry, and has a hatred for all Loyalists due to being a Veteran of the Long War, but one Chapter in patricular really does get him on his nerves...

oh, what chapter might that be?
I wonder, would it have anything to do with a certain 1st captain of a certain chapter punching him empty handed half to death and then stealing his helmet would it?

Most certainly not, since that never happened. At all.

He'll be returning the favour with his squad

Yeah, he still needs some washing, which'll happen today. I'll also start working kn either the last two terminators, or the Forgefiend.

Thanks! I don't consider myself that good a painter (definitely not when comparing to some of the amazing work that's on the site), but I'm haply with 'em, and I'm improving every day!

I hope that, by tomorrow, I'll have my two remaining Terminators painted, and perhaps I may even start on my Forgefiend or Raptors. I'll probably post some pictures by tomorrow!

I like the look of the flesh tone on the helmetless guy, and the chevrons look nice and straight. These photos are a bit hard to make out, though.

Yeah, I just saw that I took the pictures while it was kinda dark - should've shed some more light on them!

And yeah, I'm really happy with the flesh tone myself.

Thanks!

For the bases, I've used GW's Blackfire Earth, applying a thick layer, straight out of the pot.

Those new Undead releases are awesome - I'm not planning on getting them yet, but it'll serve as a bit of motivation, and hopefully I'll have painted 5 more skeletons and a Vampire today!

I really like them Iron Warriors! Are you planning to do some hazard stripes on them? That's a part I always liked about them.

On some. I'm not too good at painting them, so I'm 'reserving' them for tanks and the like. They're overused anyways, phah!

Good to hear! Have fun with yours - I know I do I'm hoping to add to them before the end of the year, although some of those new Undead are very tempting.

School's starting for real tomorrow, so I'll be painting a bit less.

However, I've finished 4 more skeletons, so the first ten are done. I've also finished my Chaos Lord, and repainted a Chaos Sorcerer! I've started on the Coven Throne and Black Knights, too.

Oh, and I'll be receiving a Space Marine Siege Breacher Squad for my Iron Warriors in a week or two!

I will upload pictures very soon.

Uh-oh! More Skeletons, and a Chaos Lord - probably up to no good!

He's so blurry!

Some color-testing on a black knight.

He's a pretty horny guy.
