Simple question (haha), does a Power Field Generator now work inside a transport.
The previous ruling in the
DA FAQ was removed.
Point 1: - The current
DA iBook version states: (c/o yakface)
Point 2: - The Black Library
FAQ page states:
On this page you’ll find all current updates to the print editions of Games Workshop’s range of Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey games.
These documents bring the print editions up to date with any recent rules or amends to their digital edition.
Where a book does not have an FAQs and Errata document, none have yet been issued.
My interpretation is as follows:
According to the Black Library site, the
FAQs are designed to take the print version to match the digital version (which I believe is considered the current version). Where there is a discrepancy, you need to default to the current version (rather than using print plus
FAQ).
The
FAQs used to apply unilaterally to print versions, but this is no longer the case as they are now handled by Black Library. Now,
FAQs are designed to have [print +
FAQ = iBook]. The
FAQs fail at this basic premise.
Thus, I am of the opinion that we resort to the iBook version and PFG cannot be used inside a transport. Discussion I've had on this point on the natfka website have been rather poisonous (except for one guy who is quoted below), so I'm hoping for a better discussion here. My hope is that this will change soon...

Good to see.
Although it still pains me that people seem to think that because something that was previously an errata is now no longer in the 7th edition errata it means categorically that those things have 'changed back'.
That isn't what it means. Those things that were previously put in the errata *have* been changed in the digital publications already and presumably also in the newer printings of the physical versions of the codexes. Now, should
GW have dropped those things from the 7th edition errata? Of course not, it is completely confusing and a terrible situation, but it is *not* a case of things being 'changed back'. It is a case of one version of the book (the old print ones) not matching the newer versions of the same book (the digital and presumably the newer printings of the print books).
And while it is terrible to have people running around with old books not knowing which things should be updated or not, the updated version would still be the most current version of the codex, and therefore take precedence over the older versions.
Disagreement (c/o Marcus Tigelinus @ natfka)
Tell me where it says that the digital editions are the most current versions?
You're misreading what you quoted too. Let's break down the sentence.
These documents bring the print editions:
A) up to date with any recent rules
or
B) amends to their digital edition.
It does not explicitly(or implicitly) state that digital editions are the most up to date, only that some FAQs may to be bring the print version up to date with a digital one.
However, it does state that "On this page you’ll find all current updates to the print editions...." which explicitly states that these are the current updates. Emphasis on current.
