adamsouza - Indeed, I think it makes for a pretty cool gun.
Redmond - Thanks, it'll be a while though.

Well every good gattling gun needs to spin, and titan sized ones are no exception.
Yesterday my dad picked this up from the FLGS:

After some playing around we decided it needed a pulley to work both the guns at once so off to the lathe we went:

After a while we had this little gizmo:

Combine that with a rubber band and you get:
]

Another view:

1 more:

With the cap and arm mount:
]

Just push the button:

and the gun spins into action:

See, it's crap like this that makes me want to get a remote control quadroped robot and mod it to be a hulking death machine that fires airsoft rounds...

Well, when my wife divorces me for chasing rabbits in the back yard with a two grand robot, I am blaming you in the hearing!

That's just too cool man

malfred, Papavich96, and Brother Bartius - Thanks for the kind words

syr8766 - No I think mine will be pose able though.

Redmond - No flashing light, we tried it but it ends up not looking right, and draws to much current.

Symbio Joe - No remote control. But I do have a remote and some servos for another project in the future.

Boss_Salvage - Thats the plan for now, of course the flame thrower woun't work.

Wehrkind - I've thought about buying the halo clix scarab and turning into a Tau titan.

Well its time for another update.
First up my dad scanned the old eagle he carved and shrunk it down, printed it off, stuck it to some plasticard and carved a new one:

Here's the mold ready for pouring (we decided to cast up an old bulldog buckle ultramarines ear ring as well):

Here's our original huge mechanicus symbol. The original mold was done without pressure so it was time for an update:

Here's the mold:

And the outcome:

Well we bits-uped the mega bolter. The top is removable in case the motor goes out:

The bottom battery door is removable as well:

I think I look forward to the casting pics as much as the (incredibly in depth) shots of the finished pieces ... it's like magic

The weapon is beautifully solid, and I love the detailing around the Big Red Button

Looks great. The one critique I have is on the barrels of the Vulcan, they are way too thin walled. You should have at least two more layers of smaller tubing in them to make them look suitably armored and to bring the bore down to some thing remotely resembling a Str 6 weapon.

Other than that, outstanding work. BTW, how tall is this looking to end up? It appears to be slightly larger than the FW one.

Boss_Salvage - Thanks. I don't know what color the big red button will be yet but right now its cool.

Arstahd - Wow! You are amazing!!! I didn't think anyone would be able to tell a size relationship via one picture with a dime in it!
I'm not sure how tall its going to be right now, but if you look at the plans I linked to (and I'm "roughly" using) the author said its the same height as the FW one.

At first I was worried about the extra barrel thickness being too heavy for the little AAA batteries, but I'm curious to see what y'all think.

I'm currently building a warhound myself, so I'm getting an idea for one's size. To my knowledge, the FW one is 10.5" tall so that's what I'm aiming for myself. From your pics I'm getting the feeling that yours will be slightly larger, but it's just a guess, that's why I was asking.

As for the barrels, do you have a second tube to go in the one you just inserted? I think it will look best if you make two outer layers flush and have a third center layer protrude a bit. IMO it will give it a very solid look.

If you are concerned about the extra weight overtaxing your motor, I wouldn't worry. Besides, you don't need to run the full length of the barrels. Keep the inserts under an inch long, no one can see that far into the barrels anyway.

Arstahd - Where is yours posted? We could use the tips.

As far as the barrel thickness. We would do it all the way down, or not at all. Just because that's the way barrels work... I do like the look of the extra thickness (1) but I'll have to add them all and try it, before gluing them permanently in. I don't want to go to any smaller bore, though, because we are shooting bullets, not bb's, and I want it to look badass.

I don't have any pics posted yet as I'm not terribly far along yet. I'm working from the ground up and am on my second leg now. I'm going with an old school look and am basing it off of the original epic scale model. If I get finished with what I'm working on I'll probably post something later tonight.

I can understand the all or nothing bit for the barrel inserts, but it is shooting tiny rounds (for a titan) so I don't think that the smaller bore is out of place. The Vulcan should look more like a bunch of autocannons strapped together than a bundle of battle cannons. Of course it's your call, but I would like to see how it looks with the additional insert in place. I think it will still look plenty badass and it doesn't take much to try it out.

Looks great man!

I wasn't talking about just any robot though. I was thinking of getting one of those WowWee quadroped robots that will walk after things of it's own volition, then modding up a semi-auto airsoft gun with a simple servo to fire it. Strap on a laser pointer for a sight, and try to peg the bloody rabbits that keep eating our plants. Unfortunately, I am not convinced of the robot's ability to walk in my yard. Perhaps an RC tank or something...

Back on topic, are you going to use a clear resin casting for the plasma coils, with some blue dye mixed in? I am really curious about how you are going to work that. It certainly will look cool.

Pheonix - Maybe
studderingdave - not walking but pose-able. It'll be posed so its walking I guess.

Wehrkind - I saw one of those robots at radioshack the other day. I think it'd make a cool conversion. I thought about applying a skin to the "robo raptor" and use it as a biotitan but thats alot of work.
The only plasma gun planned right now is the "ray gun" looking weapon. Its had some pieces added to the tubes I'll see if I can get a shot in by tomorrow night.

I agree Adamsouza!!!

I will give you my 1st born child for those Titans.
And my second, If you make me a Warlord.
My third, just because I wouldn't want to break up the set.

If FW or Lucasarts doesn't offer you a job-they are nuts.

since you obvoiusly have enough a## kissing I'll try a more constructive approach: have you tired how the Plasma Gun looks with only one color. only blue or maybe some orange?
