Yeah I am! That was shameful!

But you got second place at a tournament with some really good players with DA, that was pretty damn impressive.

Thanks for the Props on the list Shep. I'm tweaking it a little bit to make it a little more solid for me but keeping that more interactive element you were talking about. As for the comp I knew that I should have at most gotten a 4/6 using it against everybody. Instead the only guy who really hit it was a dude from my league who just shook his head and said you know what you get. And even he gave it a 4/6 (could have been because we tied ).

As for the Eldar lists I can understand to a point the comp hits. It's probably mostly because every, single eldar list there had Eldrad and both of their combined Eldrad in a unit of Harlies near an Avatar. That is a wicked combo and people do tend to notice that. If either one had had a farseer instead I can assure they would have gained probably another 5-8 comp points. But that is more people being pissy about a super priced character. I personally don't think comp has any place in a tourney. If it's legal to play then it's comp friendly at a tourney for me.

Soft scores for the win! Plus the first 3 games were based entirely on judge based comp so he played the other 3 weakest armies there (since no one considers ogres competitive).

Majorly bummed that I didnt go again this year, but I have a herniated disc, and judging by those pictures, I think I made the right call .

I took Best General last year (5-0-0) and beat Sisk in the 5th round with a list that looks a LOT like what he took this year. Dont know if I should be angry or flattered .

Either way, I think I left an impression.

For those of you talking about the ScSiS2, what are the scoring breakdowns gong to be like?

Here are the Details for the Slaught in Space in April.

First two round pairings based on judge assessed comp (these scores have no further effect), rest on battle points.

Battle Points:
20 possible per round, 1-14 from degree of victory and 0-6 from bonus objectives.
Total possible Battle Points 100.

Sportsmanship:
6 points per round, from a very specifically outlined checklist.
Maximum of 30 points here.

Composition:
Same as Sportsmanship.

Painting:
One judge (Carol Tiveron) will use a 40 point checklist to score everyone. This is a slightly modified version of the one Matt Lewedowski created for the GW GTs. I'll try and get a copy of it up, but its the same one we have used for every slaughter.

Votes for Favorite Opponent and Favorite Army will be used for tie breaking purposes on their relavant awards. Our awards will be:

Overall- Best combined score of the possible 200 points.

Best General- Best Battle Points. Composition is first tie breaker, Sports is the second tie breaker.

Best Sportsman- Best Sports Points. Favorite Opponent votes are the first tie breaker. Composition Score is the second tie breaker.

Best Painted- Painting score points. Favorite Army votes are the first tie breaker. Paint Judges choice is the second tie breaker.

Best Army- Composition Score. Favorite Army Votes are the first tie breaker. Painting Score is the second tie breaker.

Richard Marquez Award- Lowest Battle Points coupled with high soft scores. The tournament head judge is the final arbiter with this award.

The two Indy Finals passes will be awarded to the Best Overall and the 1st place Best General.

Also, to get the bonus reroll, you need to pay by March 16th. Army lists are due by April 9th. Anyone turning in an army late will be scored a zero in composition for pairing purposes. This has no effect on your overall, but you will get paired with another random latecommer or someone who brought a hard as nails army for the first two rounds as a result.

Scenarios will be posted for both the 40k main GT and Fantasy side events once Scott and I have a chance to complete the playtesting on them. Should be very soon. I strongly anticipate a standard spred of 1-2 KP related missions and the rest objective based.

Slaughter style KP will be used for the annihilation style scenarios, which means 1 KP per 100 points round up (down if troops or dedicated transports for troops), to a minimum of 1 KP.

'12 Tournement Record: 6-2-0 (W/L/D)

Understanding that the point of this is to increase the "fun" of everyones experience and I know its become a common practice in these events, but "pairings based on judge assessed comp" is a corruptible exercise. However, I do recognize that unless the random selection is done in a public forum, that it also has the ability to be "fixed." Basically, I am saying that this methodology can be prone to corruption and there is just a huge level of trust that has to be granted to the event organizers.

That said, I am not really complaining, just an observation, and I am still going to Slaughter in Space 2 and expect to have a lot of fun.

Yeah the pairing could be "fixed" but I didn't see any issues with the first 2 rounds last year and since the score is 0-6 there isn't a lot of room for variance which means only the really OTT lists start against each other and the super battleforce armies of byes play against each other so that some of them win at least one game As long as it's kept to just the first 2 rounds and swiss pairings start after that I'm good with it.

Can't wait to see you there Blue, If you wanna get in some practice games let me know.

@Hulksmash, yeah I don't think the pairing is a real issue, just my usual devils advocate self going off As far as getting some games in, where do you usually play? I am definitely small pond, as I usually just end up playing Grimgob, KevinNash, or Shep, so I don't have a lot of public play exposure, so it would be nice to play at a club once in a while I guess.

Generally I play at the bunker. It's only like 5-6 miles from my house. Don't really have a lot of space right now since we're in an apartment. We could also meet at the Realm if you want to avoid the bunker since that's pretty close though I don't know where in LB you are. Let me know.

@Shep

Awesome, I'll try to actually be there this time

So do armies have to be fully painted for Slaughter in Space 2? After finishing my fantasy army for Adepticon I don't know if I'll be able to put the finishing touches on my DA force for SiS2.

They aren't going to boot you out for unpainted armies. Naturally you probably just won't be in the running for overall but as long as your having a fun weekend of gaming does it really matter

GTs are a good place to start - plus there are a fair number of regular tourneys in socal - game empire in pasadena, aero hobbies in santa monica, SCGWL league are all good places to hone that killer instinct ;-)

Broadside was a ton of fun! I can't speak much for the 40k side, but the WHF was a good group of people. I really enjoyed the scenarios too. Just simple enough to impact the game, but nothing that was too over the top.

In regards to:
"Soft scores for the win! Plus the first 3 games were based entirely on judge based comp so he played the other 3 weakest armies there (since no one considers ogres competitive)."

That isn't the whole can of beans amigo... The comped pairing wasn't much to be spoken for on the fantasy side. Game one, most people played the same race / army. After that, you kinda got thrown to the winds. Hell I lost bigtime in my 2nd game, to a skaven list that, If I am not quite mistaken, was one of the worst comped armies in the entire tournament.

All my games were pretty damn rough and I got a chance to play against some real great opponents. Three weakest armies? You prolly didn't get to see the games then! Squaring off against DE, Demons, Skaven and 12PD Tz Gate was no joke but it was smiles all around... even when totally hung over day two!

And its not just soft scores that won me the overall... I had the most battle points too lets not forget. Good thing I won the whole thing so I could pass the General Trophy to my man Touradj! They can't let the most broken army in WHF win them all! ROFL

Fun tournament with a great pool of Socal gamers that I hope to see again at both Slaughters later this year!
