LOL sorry dude. The "radda" is in reference to the TV show my avatar is from, Chowder. In terms of my next post about a bubble dome and more poor wording, if you look at the top of the B-25 Mitchell, there is a cockpit with a gun turret on the top of it.
Hope that's more helpful.

thanks schnitzel for your help in eldar weaponry, would have taken me hours to come up with that piece of info. could you by chance spare some time and make a quick drwing or even post a pic of what you had in mind? english technical descrpitions are a bit tough for me to understand. to tell you the truth i´m no craftsman whatsoever, done my buisiness administartion degree and been left for years without a job so tech is pretty foreign country for me...

ooo clever use of kitchen hardware!
That should give a solid base for adding the superstructure.
Are you thinking gondolas underneath or a more shiplike decking with bridge on top?

in fact i will do both of your mentioned thoughts. there will be gondolas as cabins for steering and steamengine is suppose and also for weaponsponsons...
and then there will be the upperdeck that will in short look like a Aircraft carrier... that will be a hard part, as i have to do some building up there... something thats not to big but still looking the part...
by the way mates, does anyone know a way to do something like that?
i think it would look good on some part of the underside of the upperdeck or the front of the blimp...
and on a safty note: whenever i post something new... stay calm, check for open fire and get all personel to a safe place...^^

That CD rack for the zepplin skeleton is a tip top idea! Its going to provide MAD structural integrity, and a solid base to build your detailing onto.
That model is going to weigh ALOT by the time you are done. I take it this is a display piece as opposed to a gaming piece? Get some plastic clips and convert any miniature into a figurehead for your prow! Assemble your figurehead however you'd like...I'd suggest looking at the Sisters of Battle mini line. Once you've removed the parts around the waist that you won't be using, just do a "glob n' smear" with GS ball, then trim the crud just like I've got show in my Chaos Lord bitz build.

at agro,
wouldn´t it be a bit on the small size to use a sister? aren´t true prows (thats the right word?) bigger than real life humans?...
but in essence your right, that would work...if i wasn´t that frightend about using my GS amount i have...
as for what to use this piece...honestly i haven´t the foggiest knowledge of warhammer rules... i´m mainly in for the modeling part. my oldest son is very good when it comes to do the maths so i guess he will help me understand the rules then...^^ but i think it´s more of a display piece...but whoi knows could serve as a piece of terrain and than a cc battle might be fought upon the decks...that would be so rad^^
at model collector, thanks for the praise man^^ can´t promise you anything than that i constantly surprise myself^^ so it will always be like a box of choclate when you step in this thread...you never know what your gonna get^^

Just use a teeny bit of GS to extend the joins when you assemble the prow. Its the same technique I use to increase the proportions on all my true scale work. Not hard at all to get something proportionally correct to look about 8 or 9 feet tall next to a standard sized mini. Just remember that the scale is something like 25x. IE one inch on the model represents around 25 in real life. Keeping that in the back of your head will help to garauntee proportionally correct modeling, which really looks amazing when you fill it up with busy bitz.

That CD rack provides an awesome structure. Have you considered using tissue to form the skin, like you would use in making flying aircraft models? Going over the rack and the mop squeezy things would give a pretty cool representation of a zeppelin I believe.

absolutly monkeytroll. as we read and write the cloth awaits some serious gluing and cutting... i think i will make first work on the cloth about 10:00 GMET...
and be sure to check that update, might need some serious critizism then...hope this will work out, its a rather fine cloth so it should be in scale...

absolutley, truer words were never spoken!
also i think taht if you buy your minis already painted you field and lead them not so cautious as if you invseted plenty of working hours into them. i don´t want to be that kind of careless general...every soldier is special. also every soldier will get a nametag even when its just on its base^^...

ach me aching heart. does me something sinister to see such beautiful minis here...ach ach...
man neil, ever considered a new carrier as chief totrurer with the c.i.a.? might be worth a try...
well today marks a day of creativity vs craftmanship...
i´ve done my fair bit as i added some strips of cardbard to the hull of the blimp...three on each side. i think i was rather precise in doing that, which isn´t something i can do mostly very good. so i give me the thumbs up^^ for that. then i had an urge to add the cloth in a hurry... bad decision... i cut the apropriate amount of cloth for both parts and the added quite a grat measure of pva glue... spred it evenly...well tryed it..... and the cloth did what it shouldn´t have done... it moved away... it folded and it was apin to behold...i tried it by screwing it together, i tried it to hold it in place via baloons... to no avail...
in the end i had to put it out of its misery... and i started all over . new cloth i cut later but hold in place with pegs. then painted it with cheap acrilic paint for walls.
the failed attempt you can see in the pics... what you see is the point in the timeline 5 minutes before i had an anger alert...and the cloth got its terminal trash taste^^.
so now ißm waiting for the first piece to get the paint dry. i guess this will only get the cloth a bit stiffer but not the way i want it to be...so should i use varnish next? i tthink for the glue it was a too big piece of cloth...
if this also goes awry then i will do something completly different. i will try to sew... yeah men of the world i will sew that damn piece of wretched cloth to the frame, this might actually look far better. but that will take me ages...damn for craetive visions...
so here is my failure my parttime downfall. keep that as a reminder what you´ll get with rushed jobs...

Very creative attempts, I'll give yah that!
If you're still having trouble, try coating the inside edge of a few ribs at a time with some quick dry superglue. Then reach in with a long chopstick and gently tap the cloth against the glued ribs. It will take a while, but works nicely since the superglue holds things via surface tension at first, then it hardens within 15 seconds.
Work smarter, not harder!
P.S. those mini's a couple of posts up would be intense for this subject. Its starting to remind me of Columbia in the Bioshock Infinite

after viewing the video i understand what you´ve ment by your post. cool look.
and jep. rushing things just makes it take longer in the "long" run.
hmm the thing with the super glue is that i works really fast...well also it works really fast^^ so thats a benifit in itself...tststs....
have to wait and see i guess.
the main problem is that with all the helpfull suggestions about what minis look cool in this context, your all so damn right... its just that my budget wont yieled i guess. if i get a package of some sweet zulu type brits then my wife might skin me alive...or worse might do more sincere thing like looking gloomy for money not in her terms spent wisely...
so what i want you to do is take a good thought and try to help me with converting my ton of cadians and catachans...to look the look...otherwise i think it might become a ghostship...

This is a fine plan, plus it will keep the GW scale correct for the whole model....which is really important IMO.
You could probably poke around for some GW Imperial Commisar parts on Ebay and kitbash them into a steampunk officer pretty easy. Make some rudimentary GS feathers or fluff for the uniforms...if you'd like I can try making some tonight and post my typical " wtf is that" technical pics. for yah.

necromunda is really up my alley, skirmishes are far more something i look when thinking about battles. a blade between teteh, gun loaded and then charging with a small band of fellow guardsmen, that got more style than a horde of minis getting slaughtered almost instantly by the big guns. personaly i think in these terms about big guns rather like diffeicult terrain or cover^^ than actual weaponry...
on a side note. since i will be doing the upperdeck(headline will be hopefully next week, i need some craetive help with designs for the builings on top.
should i do railings, should i build a landingplatform too? well actually the last thing is quite settled for me as i want to build some vessels that use the airship as a carrier...
also how big should the above mentioned building be? how many stores?
should it have an open stearing bridge? well cant think of anyone who would say "no" to that, wouldn´t you?
so keep posting your ideas , so i´ve to wade knee deep through ´em^^

Umm yeah...nevermind the gs idea. WAY too small to work with imo for a hat.
On the plus side I dug through my jar'o heads (anyone that buys marine sprues knows what I mean) and found some stuff that could easily be kitbashed into a steampunkesque head with a modeling scalpel and some glue.
Following was done with a few precise cuts of the modeling knife to get the hair off, then just smoosh a tiny ball of GS where you want it to join. Allow it to cure a bit, then trim with your ridiculously sharp razor scalpel. Sharp is key. Xacto knife will not suffice, at least imo.
I think it gives a reasonable impression of hair being blown in the wind and could prolly pass for a Final Fantasy Character. <shrug> Paint the cyborg crap bronze. This same technique can be used to make some really crazy heads, and it takes about 5 minutes per head if even that. the cured and trimmed GS will give you a nice clean join.
You could also just glue it on, but it would look sorta bleh.
