Well that idea didn’t last long,

The more I looked at the Jacobus based off of Yarick the more I was not happy with it. So I decided to go back to the drawing board. I will save the other model for my IG or GK armies. I came up with this and I am much more pleased with it.

The previous version (based on yarick) looked great by its self, but was too small when placed next to other Arbites. I like the new one better, it is using the same old Judge model, however I like the uniform look that it will give the army. After all don’t all space marines look the same just in different poses. As I said he is based off of the old Judge model, with a head turn and the shotgun removed and replaced by a maul made out of an old power axe. It is big and doesn’t really look like other power mauls in my army. So I don’t think people could get confused by it being just a CC weapon and not a power maul. The storm bolter is from terminator librarian. The storm bolter looks a little large on this model, but I think that can help account for it having AP 4.

My Kyrinov and Jacobus stand ins together.

Any comments are appreciated

Thanks man, I don't know how many games I will win with them, but I have had more fun building these guys than any other 40K army I have.

I built an entire Penal Legion army out of Junkers - I think I might have a few of those Enforcer guys left over - I'll have a look when I get back to the UK!

The “magic powers” of the SOB don’t bother me as much as having to explain to a new opponent “ok all of these guys have a 3+ save and all of these guys that look just like them with shotguns have a 4+”. That’s why I have toyed with the idea of IG with GK (Coteaz) allies and just use warrior henchmen with carapace armour and bolters. Though either way I am happy 6th allows me to field them together.

Yeah, GK might be the way, though I'm not sure of the availability of Rhinos. Can henchmen squads take them?

For the armour issue, I'm planning to make up 'riot shields' (which look sufficiently different from 'suppression shields') which I can stick on the 3+ models to represent their save...

Cool on the Enforcers, I'm sure we could work something out. I have seen your Penal Legion and they look really cool, props to you on that.

Yes GK henchmen can take Rhinos, Razorbacks, and chimeras as transports, however they are only BS 3 and you have to take Inquisitor Coteaz to for them to be troops. Coteaz is not bad for 100pts and the new force org chart will let you take 12 troops in games over 2000 so that make it kind of tempting. You could use your Immolators for razorbacks too, that is a little hard for me because I glued the multi-meltas in place thinking that was the only weapon I would use on them. I like the SOB rules, but the idea of an Arbites Dread is very tempting.

So after some time off from painting I have gotten back to work this week.

I have finished my Jacobus stand in and I am very happy with how he turned out.

Though I am not abandoning the idea of using these guys as SOB, after some thought and list building I also think this guy would make a great Coteaz for a GK army. The guy on the right can be another inquisitor with a force weapon. I still think the SOB list is cool. However I am playing a slow campain against Eldar with a lot of wraithguard and the idea of all those crusaders with power mauls plus hammer hand has kind of sold me on the idea of GK for a few play test games. I need to get some new ink for my gols wash. You can tell my golds are starting to look more like brass.

Here is a nice shot of him as Coteaz with a henchman squad I want to run him with. 3 crusaders, 4 death cult assassins, and 2 acolytes with plasma guns.

I also finished some more plasma guns and 6 more cyber mastiffs. I figure there is no point showing more pics of the mastiffs, they all look the same, but now I have 16 of them painted and ready to be death cult assassins

I also converted these guys up after letting them collect dust for too long.

I painted one as a test and think he turned out well. If I play a GK list I may use him as an Arbite Vindicare Assassin.

Our next campain game is going to be 3K so the list I am toying with is
HQ
Coteaz
Xenos Inquisitor w/needle pistol, servo skulls, digital weapons, rad grenades, psyker
Xenos Inquisitor w/plasma pistol, digital weapons, rad gredades
Xenos Inquisitor w/power weapon, rad grenades

Elites
Vindicate assassin

Troops
Henchmen warband, 5 worriors w/carapace & bolters, 3 heavy bolter servitors, 2 death cult assassins
Henchmen warband, 5 worriors w/carapace & bolters, 3 heavy bolter servitors, 2 death cult assassins
Henchmen warband, 8 warriors w/carapace & bolters, 2 warriors w/carapace & plasma guns
Henchmen warband, 8 warriors w/carapace & bolters, 2 warriors w/carapace & melta guns
Henchmen warband, 8 warriors w/carapace & bolters, 2 warriors w/carapace & melta guns
Henchmen warband, 8 warriors w/carapace & bolters, 2 warriors w/carapace & melta guns
Henchmen warband, 4 death cult assassins, 3 crusaders, 2 warriors w/ plasma guns
Henchmen warband, 4 death cult assassins, 3 crusaders, 2 warriors w/ plasma guns
Henchmen warband, 4 death cult assassins, 3 crusaders, 2 warriors w/ plasma guns, 1 warrior w/carapace and power fist.
Transports
5 Rhinos with extra storm bolters
Land Raider Prometheus

Allies
HQ
Company Command, power fist for officer, carapace armour, 4 grenade launchers, krak grenandes

Troops
Veterans, shotguns, 2 grenade launchers
Veterans, shotguns, 2 grenade launchers

Transports
3 chimeras

Fast
2 Devil dogs

Heavy
Manticore

It will look something like this. Coteaz and the other psyker will go around with DCA/crusader squads to kill wraith guard. The other DCA/crusader squad is for killing minimal threat targets. Every one else is to shoot like hell at other stuff. The non-psyker inquisitors will hange out with the heavy bolter servitors to avoid mindlock and keep them shooting. The Rhinos will run around an block line of sight and be annoying. I have a few choppy units and a lot of low point cost units with a lot of shooting to me perfect for 6th and good representation of a police force as opposed to a military.

All I have to finish for this list is one chimera and this guy. He doesn’t have a shield but I figure he can be a crusader until I get another one. Every time I look at this guys face it reminds me of Bill Nighy in Shaun of the Dead after he becomes a zombie.

We will probably be playing this 3K game sometime next month when we can get together. I think my buddy has a few Eldar units and “surprises” to paint still. 6th is still new to use so that is part of my thinking for doing GK with IG allies. There will be so many things to remember in 6th I thought it would be easier for my opponent to know that the majority of the models are just humans in carapace armour. SOB are fun but for this many points I would have to take some allies and it would be might be a lot to say these models have 3+ saves and these 4+. GK makes it easier for me and him. Plus I get to keep the killie death of the battle conclaves and add Hammer hand to it. I really like the idea of the NO GK, GK army. So bring on the hippies we are ready to stomp some heads.

Please any thoughts welcome.

So I played a game tonight for fun with some buddies. We did 5K a side, I had to supply 2 K for my side. I decided to use SOB with GK allies and was very impressed, other two amies on my side were BA and DA against Necrons and Chaos. SOB shooting with Coteaz a henchmen squad and an assassin was awesome

It was like having everything back from the old WH book but it worked so much better. I think I could be leaning to this build for a while. It is late so am turning in. If anyone is interested let me know I will put up some details.

Reinforcements have arrived!!

I got these guys in the mail today. I was happy to find them on ebay. I got them from a great seller in France for only 6 Euros. I have been looking for them for a few years and they are kind of hard to find in the US. I can always find plenty of Junker Legionnaires but not these guys, so I jumped on them when I found both still in the blister.

The one on the right, aiming with the pistol I think I will leave alone and use as is. I don’t like the re-breather he has but the rest of the head is cool. The other guy I think I will only do a head swap and give him a helmet with an eagle. I need some more models with just bolt pistols to use as squad leaders/Inquisitors for some alternate builds and these guys fit the bill fantastically. I have a project going on for my Deathwing but once that is done I think I will get started on these guys

I'm glad you're still working on this. It looks good. I like how the Cyber dogs became DCA after being Ogryns for so long.

I've recently been play Sisters W/Grey Knight Henchmen and I think it's a lot of fun.

I'm totally resurrecting this thread. I hope you don't mind.

Keep up the good work and post new pics soon.

I don't mind at all and thanks for the comps. I have been working on some Deathwing stuff and some fantasy, but I will be getting back to the Arbites soon. I have finished a lot for them, but they are by no means done yet. I still have a few more squads of shotgun arbites to do and the two Void models above. I also have another chimera and if my mother in-law gets me her usual present for Christmas I think I can count on another land raider for when I use them as GK.

As for the Cyber mastifs I was never happy with the idea of them as ogryns. They work great as DCA and combined with the power maul weilding crusaders they make a good combo. The last few games I used them were against Necrons and Eldar, both of which don't like DCAs.

ps
Celtic, love your battle reports
