Thanks everyone for responses. I really appreciate your attention to my projects

And here comes a little update on those heavy gunners. A bases for the first two guys:

Also I'm trying to posture the third one in a bit different way, so I'm eager to hear your opinion (of course I will remade the hand to match the overall armour style and replace this copper wire with a propper chain.):

Lovely stuff here. And the painting still has them looking pretty good, as some conversions are let down by the paintjob. Not here. Well done.
I believe that your shock troops idea is already (sorta) there from FW http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SPACE-MARINE-BOARDING-ASSAULT-UPGRADE-SET.html
Yours would fit quite well with this as a heavy weapon added to these with bolters!

@Halkomahooli:
Thank you.
I'm still thinking on the design of ammo boxes, but it will be rotary magazines more likely.

@Capitansolstice:
Thanks, man!

@The Epic Chaosdude!!!:
Well, it will be more sooner or later

@Imperial Monkey
Thanks! And yes, my idea is based (sorta) on the image of those Boarding Assault SM, yet, it's a bit different. The bulk of the squad will be four HB gunners, a Sergean, of course, and as an option - an additional up to five SM with Storm Bolters and shields. I'm Still thinking about the special rules and pt costs of this squad...

Good thing you've listened to my reasoning and used IG HB instead of SM smaller version. This really makes a difference!

@storag:
Indeed, it was hell of a discussion

@c0un7_z3r0:
Thank you!

And here's a little update:

The main idea of the conversion is that this guy carries almost an ordinary plasma gun, but upgrated with a huge ammo chamber, additional generator and cooling system on his back, wich allows him to shoot rapidly without overheating and gives an option to overcharge the weapon for a heavy shot like Plasma Cannon. Thus there's a three wires joined to the gun - the gas feed, the coolant feed and the energy cable, all attached into the box, wich I will paint with hazard stripes, to avoid GSing details on it + simple yet effective
So a bit of polishing and fixing and the plasma gunner is finished, but I will be glad to hear any ideas on how to improve him even further. Should I make the plasma itself more unique? And what do you think about the Backpack design?

i just found this thread of yours and boy are you packing it full with delicious stuff... about the current plasma guy... very sound concept and the executionis looking cool! only downside to this great model in my view is the slighly deformed looking head... some gs or something so that he doesn´t keep on looking like Frank N. Stein... guess it is the bolt in his head^^... the backpack is really looking good and i like how you come up with the look GW would have done too if they cared a bit more about a cool looking model... so i will be sticking to your stuff now^^ great... another good thread to follow... as if i dídn´t have a zillion to follow already^^

cheers, vik

Welome to my thread, Vic! Nice to see you here and thanks for participation!

I totally agree about his head - it really looks a bit creepy... I was thinking on this matter and came up with a several ideas: I can sculpt some kind of a mask or goggles, may be a full helmet even, I can cut the entire head off and exchange it, or I can simply change his position, slightly moving up his left side so the head will looks straight and his entire pose will be less clumsy, saving me time and giving a good reason to name him Stein
And I think if GW had more cool looking models we had less room for our imagination, though the room given is a way too large
Oh, I know this feeling... It's just an incredible amount of amazing threads to follow on Dakka and I wish I had more time to comment everywhere, at least to show respect to someone's great job.

yep incredible ammount all right! if i had my little say i said: sculpt... you are a good sculpter and i think you have begun to make this mini a totally unique one so make it even more special... you probably know by know that i am one for steampunky appearances... so i vote for googles...mask is a maybe... could look cool too... but i bet whatever you yourself come up with it will be brilliant!

cheers mate, vik

Thanks, mate.
I've followed your advice and tried to make a goggles, more of a modern style though, not steampunk for obvious reason... I'm thinking about something like Riddick's goggles, but the foundation shape I've just sculpted looks more of a serfer style, one of those beach masculine show-offs
Anyway, a goggles for this guy are not just a distinctive detail, but a practical tool - and eye protection, for when you have to shoot such an overcharged Plasma gun there's a real danger of getting corneal flash burns, I suppose.

Ah, and here's the pic of alpha version of those goggles:

The googles should obviously feature a side targeter scope and rather massive outer frame. At least on upper line. This matrix look is not for SM, way too slick for these hulking brutes.

Whoa, a half-tonn (or even more?) bulky SM running on the wall like Neo is scary... Anyway, this GS is just a basic shape for further modification.

Even though It's a shame to post such a small update, but here's a beta version of his goggles and I eager to hear your opinion!
I think I should throw a few rivets on each side and add a tiny outer rim on the front side around the lenses.

And the pic, of course:

no... you didn´t just ask IF you should add rivets... lol...you did, didn´t you...er...

looks very cool... now this looks like goggles to me...how come people can make such tiny rims on that scale and all i can do is making bumpy surfaces...argh... i hope there will be later when painted some nice and flashy effects on those lesnes...mabye you could add some cables to the goggles? like it is a targeting system so it might be wirded to further hardware... either the gun or somewhere else...

Yes I think that the goggles would be better with wiring, the only problem IMHO is that they kiind of look like orky burna goggles, whatever floats your boat though.

some nice looking conversions here, i say do the goggles, and i would most definently add some rivets!

@Vic:
Did I?
Well, it took me about two hours to make this small adjustment - so I'd say it's all about stubborness and carefulness. Sometimes I'm stubborn, but never carefull - in fact I've ruined the construction after an hour of work and had to redo the whole thing again.
As for the cables... There's a default one on the left side, but it looks a bit... Well, I don't want to say "bad", but rather "FineCastish", so probabbly I should redo it aswell. Also I've just noticed how clumsy he looks assembled due to this wierd shield thing on his left shoulder, so I guess I will cut it off. To be honest after I spent so much time working with those Fine Casts I got a strong feeling they were sculpted only for commercial purpose, without any sence of art behind them... So ridiculous and substandard they are!
As for painting... Well, it will be interesting, as I have a little idea how to paint it right now. A bright green with those flashy effects you talking about, probably.

@Capitansolstice:
Well, as with the Orc Burnas, the concept was inspired by welding goggles, but yes, I should add some distinctive details.

@Rogue Wolves:
Thank you! And definitely there will be few rivets. Everyone loves rivets!
