Time to speak up if you want losing minis to go again or new stuff (in the comments that is)

Creator Impact! Miniatures 6 minutes ago
Alrighty...so you've seen some of the losers so far (student, cop, Tsathoggua, small Frankie, etc.). Those are figures that are already complete and in our budget. So, the question is, do you think that a new option (like drop bears) would draw in more people than these figures? Otherwise, after this next stretch goal, we'll start to recycle some of those. This is the hard part for Tom and I...we WANT to make lots of new figures but are budget constrained.

Hurray, thanks Tom! That nightgaunt is the most adorable and terrifying thing I've ever seen. <3

Yep, they fly and clutch and tickle, and that is all they do. They're horrifying.

But where is the barbed tail? Can't have a Nightgaunt without a tail...

Sure, I'd pick him regardless, but if there is no tail I'll be mighty disappointed.
Yeah Gymnogyps ... definitely one of H.P. more terror inducing creatures. They are definitely more minion material than terror of the night.

Nick ... i would definitely not show a WIP figure. I spent a lot of time on this guy looking at the reference photos and trying to make sure I got it right and making sure it would be a one piece figure which makes my life easier. I spend most of the hours of my day anymore packing up the pieces of multi-part minis I get from Trollforged (as they do not separate the pieces in the mould ... all for a mini comes in one big bag ... so one piece minis are nice).

To answer Gymnogyps's question .. yes it does have the barbed tail.

We keep trying to learn from each KickStarter we do on what works and what is not working. Glad to hear this style is a fun one for the backers.

To answer another question ... at this time we have enough new figures for 2 more stretch goal polls .... after that we move into stretch goals were we'll do 3 way fights with the losers of the previous polls.

Still in the list of new stuff we have:
TYPE 1 Cthulhu
TYPE 1 Horror
TYPE 2 Horror
TYPE 1 Space
TYPE 2 Space

We have 2 more figures that we are willing to have sculpted ... but given that we lost money on both the Dungeon Chibi and Asian Chibi projects ... we are trying to make sure that this project at least breaks even so we have not yet pulled the trigger to have those made. It would add another TYPE 1 Cthulhu and TYPE 1 Space to the list.

As long as the Tergite is one of those coming, I'll be happy . I think the art shown so far has enough that I will be interested in. Thanks for posting here

Andrew looked at the Tergite and presented a 2-piece solution so that may make its way to fight club.

So here is Chris and I's new question of the day. If we created an package deal for an Minions of the Sleeper that had the following in it: 6 Cultists, 2 Evil High Priests, 3 Snakemen (TYPE 1 sized Yigs), 4 Shoggoth and Tsathoggua for 10 points would it help. Would the cross-promotion be effective or DOA?

So that's 17 points for the price of 10.

How do people feel about the Tergite's tail? Chris was looking for feedback, I like it but he's thinking of going more SST bug with it now, I suggested keeping the tail but going for a more scorpion class stinger weapon.

Sweet, tergite!

You're referring to the art in the top right of this pic, I think:

Spoiler:

I actually didn't realize that was a tail... can't make out much from that, I think it just depends on how it was implemented.

I think to a chibi lover that model probably looks really good, but I'm just here for "cute" monsters... so I remain unswayed by it

Aww man. That's a shame. She looks like she just has an eye closed, rather than winking, as the brow would be angled down. I'm disappointed.

Still $275 until the current stretch goal unlocks but here's a preview of the next one at $12,600. The poll won't go up until $11,300 is reached.

EDIT: Image moved below

The Snakeman is a rescaled type 1 sized Yig.

I think the problem is that there is not a large enough base of miniatures to choose from. Both the Scifi and Cthulhu lines suffer from trying to do them together. I think they'd be more successful concentrating on one theme or perhaps no theme at all, to cater for what people would like to see.

I think there are a few things, but a lot also comes down to the sculpts they have available too. I think Asian/Chthulu/Scifi Chibis all had limited appeal compared to Dungeon simply due to how people use free-form miniatures. So many Sci-Fi games are based around WYSIWYG, I can't think of many which I can use free-form miniatures and the Chibi stand-ins. While I am less familiar with Chluhlu in general, it does seem like that particular group doesn't seem enthusiastic about chibis even if there is appropriate games to stand-in models for.

Personally, my buying habits are:
1 of every hero which can make an appearance in an Fantasy RPG setting
1 of every Model which can be a large boss or character bad guy
3 of every model which can be a stronger group of bad guys
5 of every troop

So right now, designs which work for me are:
1 Archaeologist as a Hero
1 Scientist as a bad Guy/NPC
3 Elder Things as strong baddies
5 Gugs
5 Hounds
5 Shoggoths
a few animated armors (due to repaint potential)
1 Chaugnar
1-3 Ithaqua
1-2 Hastur (have an Idea for a mummy lord)
2-3 Wagon teams
1 Yig

This puts me at 28-34ish picks. I may get a few more of models I own but due to theme, I am kinda stuck. I know my habits don't apply to everyone but I know people with similar collecting habits for us who are using these as RPG fantasy bestiary/Hero gallery with free-form games with no standard miniatures.

As for the rest of the models, Here is my decisions if they become available:
Student: I don't need a student. I probably would get 1 and possibly convert her hat to something more magical so she would seem like a hogworts student to fit the theme.
Cop: I don't need a cop, I would probably get 1 to become a big game hunter hero
Tsathoggua: I would get 1. He would be a bad guy boss.
Cultists: I actually need more. I love this model and want 3-5 octopus cultists, 3-5 Chthulu cultist and 3-5 Snake Cultists. If this became a model I could easily get 10 of them. Fantastic troop builder.
Giant octopus: I have one, I made it. I would like 2 more.
Frankie: Type 1 Frankie doesn't do much for me. I might get one to be like a 'phase 1' version of the larger model.
Gendari: eh, I can't find a use for him
Snakeman: I would probably get 3-5 of the smaller YIG
Tergite: I would get 5 of him as a monster pack
Horseman: I would like some of the riding ponies for conversions and NPCs, I would like some of the flaming pumpkins for ghostie baddies. I already have a horseman, but normally I would want 1.

For me, Troopbuilders are king and models with multiple uses or repaint potential. Also, being able to exist in a fantasy bestiary is also useful. Right now, almost none of the stretchgoals have required me to add to my pledge and a lot of that is theme + number of models needed. Maybe if the votes were 'I would buy 1 of these vs I would by 5 of these' we would see different results since the goal is weight of sales per mold not necessarily number of molds.

Apart from theme, I don't really know what would draw people in outside of pre-assembled minis...

The theme itself came down to Chris wanting to do Cthulhu mythos as he's a huge fan of it so he made it happen (you'll see it Impacts! other ranges as well) and the horror elements were a natural extension of that.

I know the Sci-Fi seems like a really weird addition but they've been sitting on about 10 sci-fi sculpts for a good while and it was felt they weren't a strong enough theme to carry a KS campaign on their own so the 2 got merged into 1 KS. I know this is a kind of a mish mash of themes but it kind of needed to be to get them all produced. This is more of an add on KS they would be happy enough to reach the same level as the Asian one that will give them the funds to produce what they want and expand the range.

I kind of get the feeling this will be the last chibi KS (unless it explodes for some reason). I hope they will come back and do the remaining dungeon stuff later whether by KS or general release there are still a load of ideas in the pot.

@nkelsh you hit the nail on the head and it's one thing I keep saying to Chris - 1 off heroes are great and all but people only really buy 1 of them it's the monster/minions that get multiple sales and need to be more of a focus so I hope that Tergite wins and funds.

It was an issue in the planning stage of the Asian KS I got the original list and went hang on too many heroes not enough minions, I sent Chris back a list that included the Hsigo, Jiang Shi and a few others and fair play to Chris he added most of them he even did the Jiang shi and the Paper Talisman Zombie as separate minis as I sent him 2 images and I really liked the "Paper Talisman" version.

For this KS I'm in at the Elder level it's the lowest I've backed them for Cthulhu isn't my thing but there's enough other stuff that I can fill 23 picks - no list made yet but the following are definitely on it.

Archaelogist
Scientist
Elder Thing
Gugs (more than 1)
Hound
Shaggoth
Chaugnar
Ithaqua
Hastur
Yig

Hoping for
Student, Tergite, Snakeman, Tsathoggua. I'd get 1 Frankie if it unlocks.

I'll get some Sci-Fi depending on how many picks I have left

Most of that is generic enough to work in a fantasy setting.

I wonder if it would have worked better as factions, with heroes added as stretch goals?
I know I would have gotten a faction for each old one.

I don't know the economics, but I assume a mold which sells 3-5 per customer is better than a mold that sells 1 per customer.

Maybe designing tiers to be 'for every two 5-pack type models we release, we will produce 1 hero' so the heroes or collectors line people want are not a loss.

It also comes down to what they have 'available'. I assume concept art, designs, and sculptors both 3D and physical are relatively expensive, and independent people providing minis sculpt what they want, not what people need necessarily.

I think some free-ware rules with dice packs and print-on-demand card packs from a company like 'drive-thru-games' can help the line without requiring impact to actually produce the game or have resources dedicated to it. I know a lot of people have rules and ideas, but until a game hits the market for testing or consumption,t here is nothing to 'reference' for gamers to use these models (outside free-form RPG games)

About $400 away from the next goal, Tergite is leading at present

Impact! have decided to go ahead and cast up some of Nick's other chibi minis. They are paying for the molding themselves so these can't be picked using your pledge level points they are paid for add ons only. If funding gets far enough they will review that if they can cover the molding costs from the KS itself.

Thanks!

I wanted 'praying' arms for cthulhu cultists, tentacle arms for squid cultists and combat stuff and snake tail for snake cultists. So now everyone can mix and match and do what they want!
