Other than the obvious, the figures look pretty good, and hope that the obvious can be pointed before I get my hopes up.

Good lord. The Defensebot is fantastic, though I think I'm going with the 4 small + 1 large pledge level.

Update #18 Jul 21 2014

A sudden surge - stretch goals tumble

Yikes, what a wild night! I had barely gathered myself from the Beeble Babble, and suddenly the campaign total has smashed through £50k! You people are incredible. So, this leaves me with an awful lot to talk about. For that reason, I'm going to split down the updates into two. One now to talk about the stretch goals I've already mentioned. One later on with the new stuff that hasn't yet been seen. Bear with me and I'll get on top of it!

The VIP Club is now open to all backers. This means that once the Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke website goes online you'll get to enjoy a lot of extra benefits and really become a part of a thriving community.

Mole is here too, arriving earlier than expected, which suits his rather unpredictable personality I guess! I showed the concept art in the last update but he's close to being completed by Stephane Camosseto so I will show off the WIP sculpt.

His pack is shown upside down in these pictures and as you can see, some more finishing needs to be done on the weaponry and a few more details.

You can add Mole to your pledge as a regular choice.

And you crazy people have only gone and helped the Facebook likes to shoot up past 3,250! That means that Paranormal has also been added to the campaign. This awesome concept is one that I'm super eager to see sculpted. I love the look of this spirit medium art and I'm sure that Allan Carrasco is going to do an epic job of the sculpt.

She is a new addition to the Large category of miniatures.

There's more to come! That £50k stretch goal has also gone down but I'll do another update later to show off Gunnery properly.

Thanks for a crazy night everyone.

Cheers,
James

Yet more updatey goodness

Update #19 Jul 22 2014

£50k stretch goal broken - Gunnery sweeping in!

The second update for today and I really wasn't expecting to be making this one. It's a very pleasant surprise though!

Gunnery is a rather wild model that evolved from a fairly simple idea. The basic principle of it is that Gunnery, a favoured Lost Boy, suffered a horrendous crash, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. He needed something to transport him around and I needed to come up with something to facilitate it. What was supposed to be a small technological addition became this massive machine! I probably shouldn't have watched a certain film that sounds like Gritty City Gang Prang during the development process!

Gunnery's background is that an earlier raid had secured this experimental flying automobile for the Lost Boys gang and a perfect fit was made. Now Gunnery can roam the skies and defend his brothers and sisters from above.

Pictured above is Gunnery along with two Gun Balloons, which are remote controlled mini dirigibles.

Now it's time for me to be perfectly honest with you - I don't have a cost for this kit yet! The £50k stretch goal got broken way sooner than I dreamed of! I'm expecting a final quote for casting costs on this model tomorrow. Until then, I don't feel comfortable adding him to the campaign fully.

My extreme apologies for this! To try and make up for it, here are a few additional images.

I'll add more detail about this kit as soon as I have it. It should be tomorrow.

A second member of the March family is coming next. Pa is a fanatical, technology loathing man who, along with his girls, has taken control of a large area of the Docklands. He will be sculpted by Patrick 'The Small' Masson and will join the regular miniatures.

Continental Breakfast coming in 10 minutes

I'll be adding 20 Continental Breakfast pledges to the campaign at 3am BST. This is a chance to get the same contents as a Full English Breakfast pledge for £215. Get your trigger fingers ready (perhaps you can ask Pa for help!) as these sold out in approximately 10 seconds when the first batch went up earlier today!

And that's all for now folks. I'll have more tomorrow!

Cheers,
James

Update #21 Jul 23 2014

A second painting video unlocked!

Hello you infamous folk,

Last night, while enjoying an evening out with my girlfriend, the £54k stretch goal was knocked down. Awesome stuff!

That means that everyone will get to watch a second painting video for free. Ben Komets will paint up the Mk1 Defence Bot, the process will be filmed and edited by the Painting Buddha team, and uploaded for you to watch from the comfort of your home, office or wherever else you like to stream your videos.

So, the next model on the way is going to be Doctor Umber, Queen Victoria's own personal head of science and research. I teased out a look at Umber in the previous update, but, here's a proper picture of him in all of his dapper glory!

I haven't locked in on a sculptor for this miniature yet but I have a few options, so, have no fear, there will be more news about him soon! Doctor Umber will be a regular choice to add to your pledge.

And should the £58k total be reached, I can add in the option to bring Gun Dirigibles to your pledge!

These are the perfect accompaniment to Gunnery but can also be used independently. They will come as a set of two, like the Chimp Command, as Large choice.

Gunnery pricing

And talking of Gunnery, I'm very pleased to say that I can finally offer a price on this amazing model, sculpted in crazy detail by Francesco Pizzo. It will have two options:
•Gunnery - Just the main flyer - £30 (RRP £35)
•Gunnery Attack Wing - The flyer and two Gun Dirigibles - £40 (RRP £52)

Gunnery is the standard kit that will be available at retail after the campaign. The Attack Wing will not be released as a retail pack, it's a Kickstarter special to offer some extra value to backers.

And, backers at Full English will be able to replace two X-Large miniatures with the Gunnery Attack Wing should they choose to do so!

I'll leave it there for now. I will return later with another update about some special stuff that's coming soon.

Cheers,
James

Update #23 Jul 24 2014

Princess Outis - Wrath of Kings and Dark Age crossover miniature!

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm very pleased to be making a special update to the campaign today for this absolutely awesome new crossover miniature!

Princess Outis has been designed to fit into not just one, not just two, but three different worlds!

She can be used in games of Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke and will get her own unique rules. In addition, you’ll be able to take her into battle as a Mercenary in games of Wrath of Kings and Dark Age with rules from those games’ creators. Pretty cool if I do say so myself!

Her concept is one of my favourites so far and I can’t wait to get her sculpted and cast up in beautiful resin. I think she’s going to be an amazing model to paint, with the various undersea elements she has making for some stunning details.

The process of developing this concept was a rewarding one. Coming up with a design that was at home in the industrial steampunk aesthetic of the Big Smoke but also looked really great in the apocalyptic world of Samaria and the kingdoms of Arikana was challenging but very fun. I hope you guys are into the look of the mini as much as I am.

Princess Outis is available to add to your pledge as a Regular choice or she can be put in as an add-on!

And in other news!

Doctor Umber's stretch goal was passed during the night so you can also add the Queen's own head science adviser to your pledge as a regular choice. Huzzah!

Cheers,
James

Update #25 Jul 25 2014

600 amazing backers!

Hello there,

Today marks the half-way point of the Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke Kickstarter and it's been quite an adventure so far. I'm stupefied by your support (I'm stupefied by my genes if I'm being truly honest, but, as both my parents are backing, perhaps I shouldn't mention that here! :p) and it's been so crazy to watch the project grow and become more of reality day-by-day!

But, like I said, half-way! So, what's to come?

Some cool new options have been added to the Suppressor kit.
•The ability to have an open top hatch
•An alternate option for the Tesla Coil Cannon, without the plasma ball
•A Peeler pilot sipping a brew - this model will not be available in the retail Suppressor kit, it's a bonus for this campaign. It's not a Kickstarter Exclusive or Special, so I will probably make it available through the online store at a later date.

I will try and get some images of the extras for the Suppressor (they are due to be worked on very soon) before the campaign is through and get art of the Peeler done at the very least.

These Gun Dirigibles can now be added to your pledge as a Large choice or add-on. These come as a two for the price of one option in the game and can be used as a duo or taken on individual missions.

So, that's the stretch goals that you've helped crush so far. What's next on the smog shrouded horizon?

Meg March is the sniper of the family, preferring to sit back and take potshots at enemies. She's not a fan of getting her hands dirty and with her powerful rifle and scope, she shouldn't have to. She will be a Regular choice to add to your pledge if the campaign hits £60k.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the boulder is just a temporary filler. She will have something much more suited to the world in the final sculpt!

One of the elite automaton pattern designs to come from the Kingdom manufactory, Futuras are towering machines created to guard workshops, protect the rich and intimidate the rabble. In the wrong hands, they are sometimes modified to cause mayhem in gang scuffles.

Futura will be unlocked of the campaign hits £62k and will be an X-Large option.

I'll leave you to ruminate on what the Brown Note Gun might be for a bit longer I think!

Anything else ahead?

Yes, there's quite a bit of extra good stuff in the plans actually. I have a crossover or two left. One's going to be a standard stretch goal and should add extra coolness to your Infamy projects. The other is one that's extremely close to my heart and will be launched on a rather important anniversary in the history of a very romantic relationship.

But I've already said too much!

Thanks for the amazing support. I'm so excited about the next half of the campaign!

Cheers,
James

Update #29 Jul 28 2014

Futura unlocked!

Good evening everyone,

It's been another great day for the campaign. Some backers bid farewell to the Big Smoke, but other new backers have come along for a visit. Hello to the new people! Thanks to the continuing support another stretch goal has been unlocked.

Futura is an X-Large choice for you to add to your pledge. This model will be sculpted by Dave Kidd and should be a really awesome, imposing miniature.

With this towering automaton now striding into the city the next target is one that was conceived, as you might expect from a pairing as random as us, while my girlfriend and I were preparing an evening meal only a few months ago!

It might be a fairly recent addition to the streets of London, but I think it's a good one! You'll be able to add this dung dropping, feces flinging weapon-team to your pledge if the campaign gets to £64k.

And to provide some balance to proceedings and bring order to the streets (yeah right!) it's a new Regular choice coming at £66k - Sergeant Crookes - named after Brindie's own enforcer of the law, Alan Crookes.

And then, if the mighty total of £68k is reached, there will be much rejoicing, for I will be able to unleash a veritable horde of Pigeons, available for you to add to your pledge. These will be the first Infamy creations cast in metal, which is the only feasible way to make them at a sufficient volume! More details if this stretch goal gets closer.

And for now, that's all from me folks!

Cheers,
James

Update #30 Jul 28 2014

New news from across the Kickstarter

Hey there,

A quick update here with some rapid-fire reporting on recent developments. First up, I've sorted out the Pigeon problem!

Flocking loads!

I'll be changing the production method for the Pigeons to metal if the campaign hits £68k. Doing them this way rather than in resin will will mean I can offer a higher number of free Pigeons with pledges and will also be able to make them available as add-ons. Hurrah! I hope there are some furious pigeon fanciers out there who are very happy with this news.

The Mole is done!

Stéphane Camosseto has finished his sculpt work on Mole and it looks great. He's got a much larger weapon than the concept art, which is very cool, and means you'll get a bargain if you buy this guy. Why? Because it's going to add to the bulk of the model and mean that once in full retail he's possibly going to have to step up and be Large rather than Regular. So, you could quite possibly be saving yourself a few pounds.

I've added an image of the model to the front page of the campaign but you can see some much higher resolution images of the sculpt on Cool Mini or Not.

And so is the Quaker!

Which has been made by Brian Fawcett and added to the front page of the campaign.

There's a new crossover coming

And it's coming soon! Friday 1st August is a big anniversary which I'm going to celebrate with something rather cool - a miniature that can be used in Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke and another awesome game worlde. And that's all for now, though I believe that a few perceptive backers already twigged what sort of connection it might be from a previous update. So, if you want to know more, you'll have to go investigating or ask nicely!

Gameplay video

The first is on the way, Scout's honour! It's taken me longer than I expected to do some filming, put the footage together, run the Kickstarter and follow up on the many other things that need sorting out behind the scenes. I'd rather do the videos right than throw out something in a hurry, so if I could ask for just a little bit more of your patience that would be awesome!

And to finish...

It feels bad putting out an update without something shiny and new in picture form. Here, have a look at some weapon sketches made for the Peelers! These are the shock shields, coil rifle and shock baton, all powered by technology that is rumoured to come from the Tesla workshop.

It'd be great to report back later tonight with an update about more tumbling stretch goals, so, go forth and spread the word noble backers!

Cheers,
James

Update #31 Jul 29 2014

Brown Notes, Sergeant Crookes, Pigeons and Etch-Master!

Good morning everyone!

Today was a confusing one. I woke to see the same number of backers as when I had gone to sleep, but a massively inflated campaign grand total. Then I realised that someone had stepped up to grab one of the Extra Lifer pledges I had added. This means that there are now three devoted Infamyers set to receive a plethora of miniature based goodness over the coming years!

There's one Extra Lifer left and it will be the last of the Lifer pledges in this campaign. Once it's gone I won't add any more. I can't cope with too many of these sudden moments of excitement!

The Brown Note Gun can now be taken as a Regular choice in your pledge. Adrien Debos, who has sculpted all of the Chimps so far and Uncle John, is due to start work on it pretty much now, so I'll hopefully have an update for you soon.

And the fine upstanding Peeler (yeah right!) Sergeant Crookes is almost unlocked too. If £66k is reached he will be yet another Regular option to add to your pledge [yes that is 2 chimps for a regular, apparently because they will fit in a smaller mould compared to the scenery climbing chimps, bargain]. That would take the total of Regulars that can be chosen from up to 20. A fine selection of models by some wonderful artists and an awesome leap from where the range was before I started the Kickstarter.

Thanks so much for all of your support. This really will be a true kick start for Infamy Miniatures and through the amazing backers behind this campaign I have a chance to make Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke something very cool indeed!

If £68k is reached the pigeons will be cast in metal instead of resin. This will mean that a few things will change with the pledges. Backers at Battle pledge level and above will no longer get just three pigeons, the total will be increased to five.

There are currently five pigeons made. These may need to be very slightly modified for metal casting, but their look should remain close to what you see here. The Holmes model is shown for scale purposes!

And you will also be able to add packs of pigeons to your pledge as well. The best way I can think of to do this is to just throw in a multipack with (hopefully) as many of the little blighters as you could possibly desire! So, you'll be able to take 20 pigeons as a regular choice, either in your pledge or as an add-on. Hopefully that's good with some of the pigeon fans out there!

If the campaign manages to get to 700% funding and £70k I'll be able to add an awesome Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke exclusive brass-etch sheet to the campaign. This funky sheet, made in association with the fine folks at Etch-Master, contains cool details that can be added to miniatures and bases.

The thing I'm most excited about is probably the brass-etch Infamy logo. A prime purpose of this is to act as a plaque for display plinths, which is certainly something I'll be using it for and I hope some of the display level painters will too. But, if you're not someone who likes to show off display quality miniatures and are much more into gaming, it will be an awesome alternative to me giving away a printed sticker as a freebie. What could be cooler than a 3D logo to glue on top of your mini case? Probably lots of things... but, you get the point! Shut up!

That's all for now!

Cheers,
James

Update #33 Jul 30 2014

Coming soon - ArcWorlde and Infamy Insiders

Gooood afternoon everyone,

I'm just throwing out a quick update before I get back to important sorting of gameplay stuff, 3D printing stuff and sculpt approval stuff!

It's been a wacky last 24 hours for the campaign, with the backer and overall total doing some serious yo-yoing, but here's hoping it will stabalise a bit in the run up to the weekend!

I've got two things to report on that are coming soon. I hope that they are both going to be as exciting for you as they are for me! First, something's coming to the Big Smoke on Friday 1st August:

This model - Professor Hoome - will be sculpted by Alex Huntley and will be a regular choice along with a pack of Arcanite crystals thrown in. Fans of ArcWorlde will be pleased to hear that's not all - something ugly, gruesome and smelly has followed the Professor (and I'm not talking about Alex) and will be available as an X-Large choice! Good stuff! More info when it goes up on Friday.

A new pledge is coming soon

And, I've been working at refining the Infamy Insider pledge. This one is a biggie, so it's not going to be for everyone, but those who do go for it will get some super-special stuff! It won't be launched until the weekend, so if you want to throw feedback my way about it, please do, there could still be tweaks to it and I value your input!

As you can see, it's not just a 'get everything cheap' option. If you want everything from the Kickstarter at a bargain price then your best bet is The Full English along with some add-ons. However, if the campaign goes how I hope, there will be a good bit extra to come, so you'll get a shed-load of models and add-ons with this pledge and some really special extras.

The books, with the numbering system, should be absolutely awesome special rewards for Infamy Insiders. Each time capsule will contain unique elements that only you will see unless you decide to share pictures...

Perhaps all of the Platinum VIPs can get together on their private forum, share information and start to unravel some of the so far unrevealed secrets of the Big Smoke from the different bits and pieces they will get in their capsules!

And, it will be awesome to have a very direct line to dedicated Infamy fans. I'll do my best to arrange group chats online too, so that there can be some really dynamic back-and-forth and interaction.

Ok, that's about it for now, let me know what you think.

Cheers,
James

Update #34 Jul 31 2014

Mummy and Daddy Griff - anniversary edition

Hey everyone,

I hope that you're having a splendid night / day / in-betweeny-bit!

This is a very brief update to bring you some exciting news:

Looks delicious, smells great, I just simply cannot wait!

People always ask how my my mum's not killed my dad after 38 years of marriage... There are some questions better left unanswered...

No, there's not really a psychotic cookbook coming from my parents. None that I know about, at least. But, today - Thursday 31st July - is their 38th wedding anniversary! What better way to wish my amazingly supportive mum and dad many happy returns than to immortalise them in an Infamy-themed scene?

Happy anniversary from me, Jon, Jemma, and Infamy's top digital pensmith Silviu! xxx

(sorry for this brief interlude into Griffiths family affairs - normal Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke Kickstarter service will resume with the next update!)

Update #38 Aug 2 2014

Infamy Insider is coming on Sunday

Hey folks,

An update to let you know about a new pledge coming tomorrow. Infamy Insider will launch at 9pm BST (1pm PDT, 4pm EDT, 10pm CET) on Sunday 3rd and it's pretty epic!

Infamy Insider is special for a few reasons:

Loads of miniatures!

Of course, there's all the Kickstarter stuff! You'll get one of every Regular, Large and X-Large miniature from the campaign and one of every additional add-on, such as the Suppressor and Gunnery.

You'll also get all the stretch goals from the Full English pledge. This means that you'll grab bonuses like an extra Tesla, for even more value.

Platinum VIP

Platinum VIP will give Infamy Insiders high-level access once the new website launches.

You'll be able to get involved in discussion with me and other Platinum VIPs about the game, the miniatures and the world. You'll be a part of design talk and get top secret information first. This is the best chance to find out the coolest things coming to the Big Smoke before anyone else. Only Infamy Insiders and those who have gone above and beyond in their services to Infamy (through helpful comments, promotion, charitable deeds, etc.) will be given Platinum status, so it will be a fairly elite unit!

Platinum VIPs will also get a special forum title and avatar. I'm looking forward to having a direct line to dedicated Infamy fans and I'll do my best to arrange group chats online, so that there can be some really dynamic back-and-forth and interaction.

Limited Edition Background Book

This special book will never be available to buy outside of the Kickstarter and will be numbered and signed by me for complete authenticity. The earlier you pledge at Infamy Insider level the lower your number from the limited run, so these will be true collectors' items.

Contents will be an expanded version of the PDF Background Book especially for Insiders, printed as an A4, full-colour, hardback book to the highest standards.

Printed rulebook

Although the Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke rulebook is going to remain online at first, as soon as the rules are tight and working really well, they will go into print. Infamy Insiders will get the very first copies, once again numbered and signed by me.

Big Smoke Time Capsule

The Time Capsule will be a treasure trove of cool Infamy stuff. I don't want to reveal many details, but, it will be an adventure for you to investigate the contents. You'll find out more about characters from the Big Smoke, the history of London and perhaps the Holmes-like sleuths among the Insiders can get together and begin to unravel some even deeper secrets with their clues!

There will be totally unique elements in each Time Capsule so, unless you decide to share the information, you'll all get a totally unique and personal insight into Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke.

Postage

Postage cost for the Insider pledge is included in the £700 cost for UK backers, along with the secondary shipment of their rulebook at a later date.

There will be an additional £15 for postage on international orders as it will be a weighty and sizable package. This will cover the secondary shipment of the rulebook too.

Any limited availability?

I don't think there's a danger of every backer going for an Infamy Insider, as they are a big investment, so there will be no limit on the number of this pledge that is available. However, the earlier you back the lower your book number will be.

And that's about it I think.

I'll round out this update with a look at the Brown Note Gun now Adrien Debos has done some more work on it!

Cheers,
James

Update #39 Aug 2 2014

The Etch-Master Infamy brass-etch sheet is here!

Hello everyone,

It's been a great day so far for the Kickstarter and the £70k stretch goal has been passed. That means that the Infamy Miniatures brass-etch sheet is here. Made by the talented folks at Etch-Master, this sheet features all sorts of little details that you can use to give that extra touch of class to your miniatures and bases.

In addition, it features a two-part Infamy logo. This can be used as a plaque on display bases, or if you prefer, can act as a badge to glue onto you your miniature case or painting table.

As the picture above says, a single sheet costs £4.50 or you can get two for £8. Backers at Massacre and above will get a sheet added to their pledge for free!

The next few stretch goals are a painting extravaganza! At £72.5k the fine people at Painting Buddha will release a video covering Ben Komet's approach to Doctor John Watson. This video will focus on dirty metal and gore. It may be a little presumptuous, but filming is already underway on this one, so, hopefully it will be done and online before the campaign is over!

And should you still be hungering for more painting advice, the Jo March painting video will be a special for backers. A fine celebration of the 700 backers stretch goal!

And if you're looking for something to put your new painting skills to the test on, the £75k stretch goal will bring an eighth Kingpin to the game!

Mr Dodgson is the mysterious head of the Little Parliament. A master storyteller, he commands an army of urchins who stab, steal and scam their way through the city. He'll be unlocked if the campaign reaches £75k.

Cheers,
James

That brown note gun (and the chimps in general) are some of the best looking miniatures I've ever seen.

Finally chipped my pledge in. 55 pounds level with the added shipping.

Think I'm going to go Captain Brindie, Talullah Belle, Jo March, Princess Outis, and Paranormal/Lamplighter. The large base is a tough one though. If Mr. Dodgson is large based, it'll be even harder.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I'm at Battle which is the most I can afford right now,

but have not decided what I want except for Captain Brindie (that clockwork monkey) and Harry the Hat which I'm certain about

(and I'm fortunate in already having Toad and Frank Hyde so at least they're not competing the large mini slot)

I hadn't paid attention earlier due to not really being into the steampunk theme, but I've decided to pledge for this just this model (which makes for 6 pounds of shipping - ouch, although I know it's not unreasonable, it brings my total to $30 for one model!).

I'm a sucker for concepts like this, having almost gone for this similar one from the Bombshell Babes campaign (Vivian), but I held back because it doesn't seem as practical:

Spoiler:

The Outis model is a similar concept, but with a more "action pose", so I think I'll actually have a use for it!
