GW should open their eyes - that's what you are already getting. Any organisation that sinks £200M+ into
GW will want a return to cover any financing, so + prices - costs. Sound familiar? I also can't imagine anything more bland than a Hasbro Warhammer universe shorn as I guess it would be of any hint of sex and possibly the more disturbing aspects of Chaos.
So that leaves a Wealthy Individual that can bank roll risks like trying to mainstream Specialist Games again. This may not be perfect as an individual like that will have their own bias' - how funny if they loved Squats but Squatted SoBs!
I call
BS on the claim that the big companies don't have retail management experience. For one, they don't need it because they have awesome relationships with independent retailers. Secondly, Hasbro has some level of experience directly or indirectly through the WotC store debacle in the early 2000s. At minimum, they know how hobby type materials should be sold to customers.
Recouping the losses isn't that big a deal because
1) They get a certain amount of capital from the assets
GW currently owns. These can be liquidated if need be or repurposed.
2) They can cut costs
GW is unable or unwilling to cut. Legal,
HR, some level of accounting and levels of middle and upper management can go completely away because they are redundant to what they currently have. They can also close their online webstore and their brick and mortar stores, reducing all the associated overhead.
3) They can license the IP to make quick money while they figure out what to do with the current lines.
4) It's not like production is going to immediately stop. Manufacturing will still show up on Monday to make sprues, the
GW logo will still be on it. It will just have an additional logo as well.
As far as Hasbro being G rated. Look at the magic cards below:
They're pretty grim dark. I also seem to remember that
GW has clothed their models as well, so I think your still grinding an old worn out axe about Demonettes.
