Tau are too storng vs one king of army, but if they fight whith same army list two diferent (ex.GK and IG) one after another, then they are balanced, so are good for tounamenst but not for 1v1 ,expenp if you have secret army list so take some alies

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Just a thought but is there any chance other codices don't have enough rules?

I started 40k last year and until now only played Tau. I just started a new army but trying to decide has been really hard. I chose Dark Eldar in the end based on aesthetics but trying to write mock TAC lists for armies while deciding was really tough.

Most armies don't have seem to have many options in regards to anti flyer, monsterous creature, Superheavy or deepstrike. Tau on the other hand can tailor their battlesuits to deal with any one of these tasks which is something other armies should be able to do IMO.

That's what I don't get about all this. People keep complaining endlessly about how the Tau codex has "an answer for everything", but no one is asking why their army doesn't. Why?

Don't you think other armies should have ways to deal with flyers, MCs, tanks, mass infantry, whatever you might see on the table? I'm not saying every army should be exactly the same and not have any weaknesses or anything silly like that, but there shouldn't be any army in the game that's just completely boned against a certain type of list, every army should have the tools within the codex pages to at least attempt to deal with anything. The fact that they don't is one of the reasons why 40k has such piss-poor balance and just isn't very fun to play in general, because it's too easy to play a rock to someone else's scissors (or vice versa).

No one else thinks that there should be units in other books that can be tailored to fight multiple enemy types, like battlesuits, no, they would rather that battlesuits just didn't exist at all, or were practically dead entries in the codex. It makes no sense.

He says that Tau are excellent at tailoring, but are balanced with TAC lists and that makes them bad for 1v1 except when the Tau doesn't know what the other guy is bringing. And you should take some allies.

Thats rather accurate.

Tau has the tools for pretty much anything, but they are usually conflicting tools and require a choice to be made, and many tools are expensive and possibly rendered useless (velocity trackers against someone without flyers for example.)

This level of customization is rather required when allies is not an option though. the tau codex has to cover all bases on its own.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

No they don't have too many special rules, as they don't have any psykers, hth combat abilities. Skyfire is a general 40k rule, not just the tau.
