How nice are those Special Editions? I already have the regular editions of the books, so I'd just be spending a fortune for the fancy cases. Against all common sense and my better judgement.

Well if you're just throwing money at whatever's shiny, GrimDork could really use some new tanks. Just look at his big sad eyes.

It isn't just the case if I recall as the books themselves are leather bound with insignia and book mark instead of standard hardcover with graphic.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

A lot of that DUST stuff, especially the tanks, would be great and easily converted to my Ork army.

How long does it take FFG to actually ship items? Been sitting at "pending shipping" for three days now. Usually the only time I have to wait this long is if I go with free shipping through Amazon, but since I had to pay a fair amount for shipping I am a little confused.

It's a major sale so expect long delays (took about 2 weeks before anything was sent last time I bought from them in sale time)

From what I understand, yes, but still not high enough to invalidate deals (for instance, the Dust modular buildings are like 25gbp from Wayland, or about 5 gbp from FFG, so even doubling it for shipping, you'd still be getting a massive deal)

sadly to make it worthwhile as you say, you need to order loads of stuff. Its christmas and i dont want customs to mash my wallet.

shipping cost to the EU is 100%-125% extra.

Taking the example of the building, it's $9 + $9 (shipping) + $4 (VAT) = $22 => €17,50

For the entire shipment You'll need to add €13,50 for admin fees. Let's say add another [b]€1 to the price, that's €18,50

It's available for €27,91 here:
http://www.bookdepository.com/Dust-Tactics/9781616614140?selectCurrency=EUR

That's about a 35% discount, a lot less then the 70% discount for the US branch ;-)

It's just not what I'm going to spend my money on right now.

I was thinking about ordering the limited edition RPG book for $40 (€32), with shipping and taxes that went up in price to €90.

I'll keep an eye out for good sales here in the EU if you don't mind, like the AT-43/Confrontation4 sales at one time...

You also have to factor in that should HMRC inspect the package, you're looking at 20% on the declared value in VAT (sales tax in Murican) and Royal Mail seem to feel justified in charging a $13 "handling charge" when they don't appear to do anything that they wouldn't have done anyway.

Doesn't eliminate the possibility of savings, but does probably require a large order to make it worthwhile (no point in ordering $20 worth of gear then paying another $13 handling, $8 in tax and shipping.)

Ouch! Sorry gents :(
Well, Miniature Market has traditionally had relatively reasonable overseas shipping and their sales start Wednesday morning (USA time). It looks like they might be clearancing off DUST as well, as many DUST items are already on sale. Could hold out for them and compare deals.

Not long usually, but they're not usually in the middle of a massive sale. This is a "all hands on deck" thing for them, so even people not normally involved in the retail/distribution/warehouse side of things jump in (or so I've been led to believe).

Wyrm's models look great and are unique, but I've always seen them as outside of my budget. Any suggestions on how to best take advantage of their BF sale when it starts would be appreciated!

I don't think I'll have time to play the game, just would like the models.

FRPGames also has them on sale, up to 75% off: http://www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=overstock&div=0&level=0&mfg=WYR

So... does anyone have experience with FFG's customer service? I made an order of some Dust miniatures for other projects, but now some of my friends are planning on getting into it too, and I want to add the rule books to my order. So far, my question about editing my order has gone unanswered since Saturday, and I am concerned they may not respond before the sale ends.

I sent an email four days ago and still have received no reply. My order still hasn't shipped either so I imagine they are quite busy so it is possible they won't get around to responding anytime soon.

Hmm... I can understand being slow to ship, but not responding to e-mails during a major sale seems like a very odd decision, as it only has the potential to hurt their sales.

£4.98 standard delivery and free for orders of £30 or over if you're in the UK

(so it all depends on where you live as with the FFG sale where shipping was too much for me)

At least with FFG it makes sense (large volume of DUST boxes or heavy games or both), but two airfix kits that weigh maybe 250 grams total can go Royal Mail Small Packet for like 6 gbp or less. Their shipping calculator is totally wonky!

IMO, the only things worth getting at the sale are exclusives and their clearance metals/resins. Anything else you're better off buying from an online discounter if you dont mind waiting a few extra weeks.

I'm picking up an alt perdita, carver and the clear green pandora box, and if there's a decent selection of clearance items, probably using that to get me to the $150 mark.

Since you don't play, its hard to suggest what to get beyond that. Pick up things that interest you I guess. I'd try and stick within a faction on the chance that you do start playing, as the game is quite fun and you can build a nice crew for under $100. My only tip is to grab the metal Colette crew/avatar if its available. The art for the new plastic versions is god awful in comparison, as their outfits lost all flair. Actually I'd recommend getting any master you might want to play in metal, as many of the plastic masters are just bland in the face department due to less of texture.

Also Wyrd's limited editions tend to sell well. Odds are you could pick up some of them and resale in 4-5 months for a nice profit if that's your thing.
