I agree with the " Automatically Appended Next Post thing" but have to say these Scions are looking awesome!

If i were to start another 40k army, these guys would probably be it. You do them great justice!

If you do start a Scion army, make sure you look at the instructions first. The piping that connects the lasgun and backpack only matches up with certain pairs. Same with the arms. It just makes the assembly process a lot faster if you match each piece before cutting it off the sprue. I wish I knew this before I assembled my first set of Scions!

Been pretty busy lately and haven't had much time for painting. There should be a lot of updates coming in the next few days.

Spent most of today painting, and I think I got a lot done. I'm such a slow painter though! I started sort of a production line with this unit of 10 Scions. After the 2 coats of Zandri Dust, and 1 coat of Balthasar Gold I got tired of painting 10 at a time. So for now I think 5 at a time is what I'll be doing.

Here's 5 of them after a wash with Reikland Fleshshade:

Here's the other 5 I basecoated with Zandri Dust/Balthasar Gold. And the other Scions I need to start painting.

Also, I have a question for you guys. What color should I do my Commander's coat? Or whatever it's called. I'll be painting the berets a dark red.

Coming along nicely! I vote a deep red on the cape, or a grey-&white.

I'm partial to dark blues and blue greys myself, but I don't think they'd fit your armies color scheme.

What about dark grey for the outer part of the coat, and dark red on the inside? With gold trim.

I can see that working.

Finished most of the basecoats, and put some washes on him. And I just noticed I forgot to apply a wash to his beret and I missed a few spots with green/gold. Still needs final coats of green/tan and a lot of neatening up. I'd say he's around 50% done. What do you guys think about the grey/red coat with the green armor? And I really wish I waited until after I painted him to glue his coat on!

Did some work on the other 5 Scions, and a little more on the commander. I should hopefully be finished with this squad sometime this weekend. And I guess I'll be painting the command squad next because I've already started on the commander.

That cape does work nicely, utilitarian and practical on the outside and jarringly flamboyant on the inside! That's the Imperium through and through!

Thanks! Should I do the same grey/red on my Commissar?

Yeah, I think so. It would work nicely.

I can't decide if I want to paint 5 at a time or 10 or 2. So now I'm back to 10 at a time, for now. Finished painting Leadbelcher on all of the silver areas. Next up is Dryad Bark which will go on all of the boots/straps/gloves. Also, today is my birthday. Even though I said I wasn't going to buy anything else until I finish painting what I have I went to the GW store and bought a box of Shock Troops. After I finish this squad of Scions I'll probably paint them next. I need a break from the Scions, and it will be nice to paint something simple like these guys. Should I leave the piping for the hot-shot lasguns black?

Anyway, here's some more pics

I'm gonna need a lot more of these guys so I guess it does make sense to start working on them again.

I'd say the piping is a chance to add some color to the model, obviously something that is totally abrasive maybe a dark blue?

The fang is a personal favorite of mine, but I would try the xereus purple.

I'll give xereus purple a try tomorrow. My Scions do need some more color

Finished the Dryad Bark on all of the boots/straps/gloves today. Also painted the piping on one of the Scions Xereus Purple and washed it with Nuln Oil. How does it look? I like the idea of the piping being purple, but I don't want it too bright

It looks good, but I'd use the purple wash.

I'd go with that

"Your mumblings are awakening the sleeping Dragon, be wary when meddling the affairs of Dragons, for thou art tasty and go good with either ketchup or chocolate. "
Dragons fear nothing, if it acts up, we breath magic fire that turns them into marshmallow peeps. We leaguers only cry rivets!

That army box will need 3 more Chimeras,,,,,,,Platoon can only fit the single 10 man squad, so another for the 2nd squad, 3rd for command team, and the last for the heavy weapons to get around the same time/speed as the rest of the platoon. But I am a bit of a "tread head" so a motorized company is appealing to me.

Been a lot busier lately than I thought I was going to be. But I did manage to finish the Runefang Steel on the silver areas and bronze. All that's left is some highlights on the green armor, eyes, wrist thing, and base them.

Finally got some stuff I needed to start playing. I think I may get the small format codex. Now I just need to convince some of my friends to get into the hobby so I don't have to drive an hour to a GW store :(

What should I paint next? I'll leave it up to you guys!

Command Squad/Commissar

Another Taurox Prime

Or should I start painting some more Guardsman?

Command squad, that way you will be able to field a small entirely painted army.

Ugh, I'm so tired of painting Scions! I do need to finish them though. I probably won't be getting any more for a long time because I want to focus on IG. Guardsman are so easy/quick to paint so they won't take too long.

I would say that these are really good classic cadians. keep up the good work! I appreciate that you really get in there for the small detailing

Wish I could say the same. I can't tone down my skill for models I always have to try my best, that would also explain the 120 zombies I have sitting in my case unpainted

Loving your work and how your tempstor looks id go for a similar sorta scheme with your commissar but use more gold to make him really stand out.
I personally use the colour scheme for the 62nd Rhion Cobras which is similar to the Cadian but with green cloth where yours in tan.
