As that armor doesn't deflects hits into vital organs, it is actually fine.
The guy made the example of a form fitting codpiece being as stupid and unrealistic as boobplate. I just showed him it was a suitable design for the ruler of England.
It's a codpiece, not a form fitting codpiece. That would be stupid.
