From the Astartes thread - by Timotheus - the Dark Angels upgrade sprue

DA decal and banner transfer sheet

Price list

@The old SW Captain's wolf head comes also with the Grey Hunter kit already. The wheel has indeed come full circle

I welcome that GW is offering those bits as they allow for nice chapter specific conversions. Like Pretre already mentioned the older miniatures are smaller. You can now make updated versions of those classic miniature designs.

In some of the new painting books GW also uses plastic bits to make new special characters (no rules included, just for fluff reasons). The Terminator Space Wolf character with the Dreadnought skull head in Companies of Fenris comes to mind.

Prices seem to be okay this time

We're not talking about a transfer sheet like one that comes in the boxes of models.

We're talking about one that is going to come in a fairly large mailing envelope. If the text they put on there is any indication, it's even larger than the Forge World transfer sheets--which are pretty dang large.

Yep - if those banners are the same size as the originals they're about 3cm tall.
Also £8 for the sprue - I'm really surprised! Time to prise off the too small metal ones I put on my DAs & swap them out!

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Just talked to my GW manager today and he says the Space Wolves sprue has all the stuff you need to make a Ragnar Blackmane in plastic. All you need extra is a set of legs. He also said the shoulder pads are for Ragnar's company.

If you've been in the hobby a while, you really don't need a gigantic sheet of decals where about 75% of the sheet is just more chapter badges and squad markings. So, even though it's huge, I question its value. Also, the "upgrade" sprue is pretty underwhelming. Again, $13.50 isn't a lot of money, but it just seems like it's a pretty lackluster effort from GW.

While I agree about the transfers (which I actually loathe) I love the idea of an upgrade kit. I'm extremely anal and want all my Marines to have sculpted shoulder pads for the Chapter iconography. Currently, I pay $12 Cdn for a set of pads for my Fists, Word Bearers, or Iron Warriors. For an extra 4 bucks, I get some additional bits AND get to pick it up in store immediately rather than waiting for shipping because it's online only. Win/win for me.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

God, GW is simply the most unprofessional company I've ever come across.
They must think typos are sexy.

(Don't mind too much in adverts, even if it's really stupid to have them there, but seen as they are frequently in publications, too, I can only shake my head in wonder ...)

It describes in White Dwarf, the sheet being "in reality, they're massive -- even bigger than the pages of this magazine". You get an idea by looking at the banners on the bottom left, which will (should?) fit the command squad banner blank.

Personally, I'm not a decal guy, so I'm not buying one, though I am tempted just for the banners at the bottom. It is actually a pretty good sheet of decals, and you'll likely only purchase 1 for your whole army (to supplement the free decals that come with each box.

Two things are puzzling to me:

- Why not print it onto 2 sheets? Huge decal sheets are a huge pain to store and not damage.
- Why waste half the decal sheet on crap that you get for free, which you'll have 20 sheets of by the time you finish your army? I mean, the chapter logos are a total waste, except maybe the largest sizes. The numbers are a waste of space. The assault squad/tactical squad markings you'll accumulate faster than you can use. And all you need is 1 friend who also plays SM, but a different chapter, and you'll have a lifetime supply of the common ones.

I would have either liked to see the whole sheet with unique stuff (that's not on the Space Marines or Space Marines Vehicle transfers) OR a smaller, cheaper sheet with all unique stuff. I mean, they could have just given us 2 of all the cool items, since there's the chance you can muck a decal up.

Id be a bit more critical about *what* you're purchasing rather than some kind of "number of decals". 650 of the SAME symbol + 50 cool decals for 25$ is not the same as 700 cool decals for 25$.

All in all, not a great buy even if the decals on the lower right look useful.

@Kirasu - Indeed, 650 blood drops in yellow, red, blue, green, and black (or whatever silly colors they made... no idea why) is surely what every painter desires.

I can't tell if you are joking, but the single blood drops are for the right shoulder pad, signifying the company the marine belongs to since helmet color signifies the marine's function (whereas other chapters use a symbol on the right shoulder pad). But really, 75% of those ~200+ decals are going to waste, unless someone actually runs an army composed of several companies. The squad markings are pretty cool, though.

Except the picture shows nothing of your hyperbolic claim. There are ~200 Blood drop symbols. The rest is squad markings, campaign markings, battlefield role markings, banners and other various decals.

The banner transfers are probably the highlight of the whole transfer sheet. It'd be nice to get my hands on some Black Templar banner transfers.

I'm assuming it's because the Primarch has deathly pale skin, but I think it's funny that the new spray paint is called "Corax White."

So that's Raven White spray. Look out for Puffin Purple.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Yeah, I don't think "Night haunter white" or "white scars white" rolls off the tongue as easy. :p

Well, now it's official. The cycle has officially turned over and is now replacing the oh-so-permanent-looking hardbacks with newer hardbacks. But more importantly, they started updating armies that were already updated AND gave the Adeptus Mechanicus an army before giving Sisters of Battle a single plastic kit. I feel like the signs were there. They probably still will, but holy fething horse gak are they dragging their feet with Sisters of Battle.

oh look at that, a Sisters whiner in a completely unrelated thread. No one has seen that before.

Anyway... I really hope the Dark Angels get a Decurion like Detachment so they can keep their ObSec terminators and superbikes. Though making Greenwing viable again would be nice. Though it isn't like people are playing DA for Greenwing in the first place.

Just need a chest front, a pair of arms, a storm bolter, and some legs. But it has HIS frost sword, head, and backpack so most of what you need is there.

Bringing this back to DA, the upgrade kit has much of what one would need to make a Company Master. Much of what is included looks awful close to what the failcast Company Master included. I prefer Company Master Balthasar though. Glad DA got a kit that looks pretty useful (unlike BA...). Now if only the rules made DA good.
