Sounds cool and I'll be giving it a bash.

Hopefully it will be 28-30mm scale.

It would be awesome if they did something similar to dungeon saga.

Some of the older stuff then yes but the newer stuff from CD puts them ahead IMHO.

And Dr Who: Mars attacks Terminators vs aliens vs Predators sounds sweet.

I'd need to get some GW in there (inquisitor who maybe).

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

I'm REALLY excited about this.

If they do a unit based wargame out of this I would be thrilled

What a lot of people need to remember is that whilst Doctor Who does have a focus on the Doctor and non-violence, there are lots and I mean lots of militaristic armies within the who-verse, such as you have your Daleks and Cybermen, and your Sontarans, then you have the Silurians and the Sea Devils, you have UNIT and even the Time Lords had a military defense force (which most likely expanded with the Time War). You have the Autons, Ice Warriors, Rutans Mechanoids, etc etc. The list is very much out there with tons of potential.

I would love to see if they are allowed to do expanded and detailed, in-depth fluff on the Time War, I'm sure it would be awesome to gain info and that era.

I can honestly see this as a skirmish game due to the fact that you have factions out there which may be too hard to pull off in a unit based wargame such as the Weeping Angels, but if we get a unit based wargame I would happily throw a clenched fist full of money into my computer monitor as long as the sculpts were plastic and very fine quality

Sign me up for two armies of Daleks! (one painted gold and one painted up in the colors of the Imperial Daleks. All hail Emperor Davros hehe ).

I'm gonna get a Weeping Angel army. Should be quite a forgiving starter army.

Just sit there and do nothing for an hour or so and whenever your opponent turns around you can advance your force as quickly and as far as you can and smash their army to pieces.

What can I say, I'm just a fluff monkey.

No, they are the newer designs that got given away with Dr Who Adventures magazine a few years back. One of mine had been crushed, hence zombie Davros.

Hopefully they can keep selling them. There's at least two separate and distinct current Judge Dredd lines out there, so hopefully the Doctors can be the same...

Ah, the other impossible-to-get kind Nice collection.
Would be really good to get a proper plastic kit from WG for a bunch of those. Hell, it should be easy enough; keep the plungers and head separate and they're basically as multipart as they need to be for every possible pose

Unless they do something completely off the wall and have the game all about achieving objectives, (sneaking into the room to save Ramona) then I don't see how this is a good fit for table top games.
Don't get me wrong. I'd LOVE this and my wife would love it even more. But it's gotta feel right. It has to feel like Dr. Who and not some wargame with Dr. Who minis.
As a big fan of fake violence, I have to say, the less violence and more adventure in this game would be for the best.

As others have mentioned before, I wouldn't mind fighting battles between various less non-violently inclined factions in the setting for years to come. If anything they might do well to have a low model count option like what you're proposing and a larger scale game that let's you field 20-50 sontarans with support against a sizeable cyberman army. There's got to be more than a bit of an audience for that, right?

Debatable judging by Gates of Antares. Although all the design work is already done for Cybermen, Daleks, etc, and WLG do make nice miniatures (as opposed to the ones they buy from others).

I like the Gates of Antares figures.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

If I was a betting man, I'd be betting on them using the Judge Dredd miniatures game rules as that has rpg-lite elements and most potential for non-combat ways of winning out of their current rule systems so should fit the feel of Dr Who better.

I feel this would have to be an imperial assault-ISBN type game for it to realky fit thematically. One of the things with IA is, sure you could stand there and shot down dozens of stormtroopers but you will eventually lose. You have to keep moving to the objectives in order to win. In other words. Keep running.

Oh man, a Dalek plastic sprue to make all kinds of Daleks ... haha, I don't even like Doctor Who that much but that sounds great to me! I guess I have always liked the Daleks, though. I kind of doubt that the style of game will support plastic miniatures kits, however, unless it really is BA but with armies consisting of various aliens from Doctor Who.

I thought the dr who minitures game from crooked dice was not for sale.
It was always promoted as unofficial and hence 7tv was born from it.

I don't know about that. I mean, you can comprehensively fit a single dalek model able to make pretty much any kind, in any pose (yay glorified trash cans ) on something the size of their Bolt Action weapons sprues, for example. That shouldn't cost the world to make (not anymore - cost of plastics production has gone down a fair bit) and I'm sure they have a fair idea what a boatload they'd sell just for use outside their own game. It's friggin' Doctor Who!
Now the large BA-infantry sprue sized multipose plastic cybermen kit might take some prayer and convincing. You get the lead pipe, I'll bring my pliers

The Dr Who game predates 7TV and became the foundation of the rules. There were some print copes of the book, along with a very small intro pack; neither of which were official CD releases (apparently), but could be bought from them at shows.

That is probably my favorite Doctor Who moment, and ironically it doesn't involve the Doctor or any of his companions.

Something like the Deadzone/Mars Attacks rules would be perfect for this. Different factions having different objectives. Dr Who plus some companions having to grab a secret objective or get across the board to the Tardis. Dalek's would be exterminate, exterminate. Weeping Angels would be sneaky up behind people...

Something like that would be pretty fun.

Further article posted yesterday regarding the release format. The article also states it's going to be a new rule system but could be a misunderstanding.

http://www.kasterborous.com/2015/08/doctor-miniatures-game-announced-warlord-games/

The company will produce a starter game as well as a hardback book detailing instructions for how to defeat Doctor Who‘s foes. There will be a new game system devised to fit into the Doctor Who universe and to allow the existing characters to work to the best effect. John Stallard, managing director or Warlord Games, said that he expects Cybermen and Daleks to be the most popular figurines. “You can’t beat a Dalek,” he added.

Work started recently on the figurines and Mr Stallard said that he hopes the first games should be ready in a few months. They have reportedly started sculpting the first models, commencing with ‘the bad guys’ and once these have been approved by the BBC they can start on the figures of all 12 Doctors confirmed for the set.
