Damn, I am really tempted by the $50 pledge, but I am trying to be good.
That pregnant figure could be really cool as an evil sorceress/queen as well. Tied in with the monster nest, she could be pregnant with something entirely malicious and deadly...

This KickStarter is well worth the evreything pledge for me. A group of mixed race females with brains looting the dungeon of a mother monster disguised as a human with a simple OSL tutorial. I'll have to see what else you have available allready.

I think I'll be giving that a go... fertility goddess statue!

Sadly, not much... we'll have our anthropomorphic minis up on the webstore next week; but most of our earlier fantasy stuff is OOP, due to some dodgy moulds. But we'll be adding more stuff soon! I'm bending armature wire right now...

I think Shieldwolf could have taken a leaf or two out of their book... I think the Shieldwolf minis looked higher quality overall, but the slightly cheesecake quality to them seems to have been less appealing than the sensible shoes. I didn't back this KS but my partner, keen to have reasonable-looking female fantasy minis, did.

Yep. I think Shieldwolf wanted to avoid full-on cheescake, but didn't dare to go full-out practical design. So in the end the design didn't fully satisfy anyone.
I think there is a quite sizable, largely untapped market for this kind of female models which this KS has clearly benefited from.

Are you still sure about that ? Anyhow, congrats! I'm eagerly waiting for my model .

Good points . It might sell better, but if the market is already saturated with it, there might be more opportunity on the "sensible" side! Honestly, I'm thrilled with how well received this project and thread have been

There's actually a debate as to whether 'sex' actually does sell a product directly (or is actually a part of lowering confidence socially which in turn increases consumption). Lest, I digress.
Congratulations on the KS. Looking forward to the half-orc sculpt.

I didn't think of that, but in an RPG setting, that model is almost assuredly going to be in the situation of needing to be rescued more often than not . At least the other adventurers "in sensible shoes" can help with the rescuing!
I think she would also do well painted as a statue, as a centerpiece for a temple. Or with some flowers and vines in a forgotten shrine.
Or as a divine avatar of the fertility goddess ...
The evil sorceress/priestess idea is good, but I think it works even better if she's just pregnant normally. I mean, there's no reason why the evil queen shouldn't have a baby.

How do these figures scale against other ranges, such as Otherworlds, or Reaper?
I'm interested in the range, but not sure of the scale?
|
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Grot 6 wrote:How do these figures scale against other ranges, such as Otherworlds, or Reaper?

There's a fair bit of variation in other ranges, so it makes it a bit difficult to be definitive. Reaper particularly - they've grown a fair bit in recent years. A lot depends on whether they've gone to 35mm size like so many seem to these days... I've gone for 1/56th scale, so a 6 foot person is 32mm-ish. The fighter is 29mm to the top of the head, but is a bit hunched over. Stood upright, she'd be 5' 6" or 7" ish. I've sculpted a few male humans for future release who are 31/32mm to the top of the head. Basically, I've tried to keep most of the females slightly shorter than the males.
Here's a piccie of the Sensible Shoes fighterwith an Otherworld fighter (minus arm and shield), an older Reaper fig, my fighter, and a Bones Sir Forscale; I've tried to level the bases up as much as possible - hope that helps!
cheers,
Michael
