I don't normally hold on to armies for too long as i like to play for a bit then flip them over to start something else but when I saw the Horus Heresy Characters being put out by Forgeworld I had to have them all regardless. I plan on picking up all the Primarchs and Characters eventually and filling a display case with them at my house. I have never wanted to own a model just to paint it more then these.

I picked up Horus, Angron, Ferrus Manus, Fulgrim so far and have them assembled now. Last night was the first night I started putting brush to model though and I couldn't resist starting with Horus. The Horus model as a whole with full base is by far the most impressive model I have ever seen come from the sculptors out of Forgeworld. Just a truly awe inspiring model that looks good from any angle.

I normally skip over painting eyes because they are so squinty that I just let the wash set in them and move along but since the primarchs are just a tad bigger and im putting the extra effort into them anyway I went ahead and gave pupils a try. MANNNN are eyes a paint in the arse to do.

Finally got around to finishing up Horus tonight. Very pleased with how he has come out and now I cant wait to dig into the next one. I think I might knock out Angron next because the gold armor will be easier to paint then Fulgrims purple.

Started work on Angron now. Hes not as interesting to paint as Horus was. The detail is there but the paint scheme isn't as interesting as Horus. Also his base is a pain in the arse to fit in and out of the diorama base.

Thanks Paradigm,
I'm trying to put the most time into each of these that I can so they will be my best pieces. I've started to look at display case options or building my own now cause I have always wanted to have a good case to show off and protect my collection. Most of the cabinets I have found start at $90 and go up to $400 so building my own shelves with glass door is looking more and more likely each day.

Wrapped up my Angron tonight. At least to a point I can be happy with for now. Theres always room for improvement when painting for display.

Now to start on Fulgrim, just finished priming him up and hope to get a base coat done before calling it a night

Fulgrim is turning out to be a real pain in the arse to paint. so much gold filigree on his armour... oi and the white leather is being a pain too.
Need to go buy some new brushes now, my last fine detail brush just started splitting on me and now its just messing everything up.

Mortarion is kind of a B to paint. Not 100% happy with how hes coming out but that comes down to the fact I hate painting skin tones and white capes.

While I wait for the diagnostic on my dead computer to come back I decided to play with my tools. Picked up some cheap wood display plaques from Hobby Lobby today and milled out the center 4mm deep with my rotary saw. Now my Horus Heresy characters can be displayed in style.

They all look great! Love Horus and his base is just awesome. Will eventually paint my own set of Horus characters but I really want to get (alot) better at painting before I do so like you I can display them.

Looking forward to seeing Lorgar!

thanks a lot im looking forward to getting them all finished up but every time i pick one up i find more detail or something else i can do. Now by putting them inset in these bases ive got all kinds of ideas coming to me to decorate the extra space with dead grass, barbed wire, bricks and what not.
