That lizard man model is a bit lacking, I think. Some of the others look better, but they seem to have the oversized proportions (particularly the weapons) usually associated with "heroic" scale.

yeah I'm not a fan of the looks of the lizards either. Rakshasa looks cool though and I'm interested in seeing how the Celtic models turn out.

Hi.

THe weapons look oversized if you see it like it this: a zoomed render where you can see it all bigger.. when the trut is that, when you translate it to a miniature, it will ook like this:

THe weapons are between 1 and 2mm thick, no more.. and dont forget you have to take in count that thinner parts would be very fragile and also, difficult to cast, thats is a very well known issue think.

I will make a group render featuring "real sizes", the reference will be the base, which is 25mm diameter and 3mm thick.

I will work on adjusting the weapons a bit tho, thanks for the coments

Salutes! and i will make that celtic champion during this week.

Hello, today i adjusted the weapons and shield of all the 5 models after meassuring (again) miniatures i have and comparing to mines, and i realized i was able to adjuts a bit all the weapons and make them look more stilised..

The most notable changes are in the Akkiri elf shield and spear, and same with the dwarf. Then the lizardemn, his weapon and shield were retouched, and i added him a secondary weapon. The Orc and Rakshasa weapons were also reduced in thicknes, but less than the other cause after all they are bigger and can handle better heavier weapons.

Also i sketched a Faun.. the faun was going to be ny 6th sculpt, but i will do the elf (as it was the original idea) cause i know it might look nice and more interesting for the main goal for more people than it would with the faun. (which will be unlocked in the first stretch goal togheter with the arabic dwarf)
Spoiler:

This Fauns live along in neutral-good relation with the "celtic/germanic elves" (the Erythrian faction, which champion i am about o sculpt this week!) who makes for the fauns armours and weapons due to their poor habilities in crafting/metalurgy, in exchange of mutual help and protection against the outsiders of the woods they live in.

The first 3 models look a lot better with the slightly smaller weapons now. Nice tweak!

The inside of the orc's leg (the side view shot of his right leg) doesn't seem to have any detail yet, though.

Neat concept. Cool to see themes and designs from something besides the typical classic European style aesthetics.

I want to like the lizard, but something seems off. I wish I could be more specific. Something about the scales I think. Will definitely keep my eyes peeled!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Both are right, the orc right leg, i will detail a bit more the muscles and make that the plate, that is now occuping a lot of space (to easy the moulding and casting) will be separated, so more detail can be apreciated.

And the lizardman, yes, that scales are "large", or what i would better say, they are not width enopugh, i have to keep the large, othewise they will be toooo small, so i will try makeing the widther.

i will update!

Thanks for coments.

Everything I've seen with this is actually pretty cool. I like the fact that you're associating various races with historical cultures that they aren't often tied to. Tribal elves is certainly a new one. I just wish that the lizards weren't going to be based on the Incas. Lizards are always based on Incas or Aztecs. I'd like to see some based on Asian or Scandinavian cultures.

I totally agree with you, as you see, i am making the "usual associations" and the "new ones".

The reason i make a mix, and not only "new" is because.. the roots are the roots and i have to desing "recognizable" models, however, that doesnt stops anyone the make something new:

We are humans.. and there are oriental humans, middle east humans, mesoamerica humans, african human, european etc etc etc.

So, yes the first lizardman is a lizardman based in mayan culture and in the Iguana specie (native from america).

Thats the first, but i can, and will add otehr reptilian faccion, based on other culture, but the specie should change and put an autocton specie of the region where the faction is based in.. so, if i make oriental/african lizardmen, they will look sightly different, but will be lizardmen in the end.

With this, i want to say that, THIS design/species, cant (in my fantasu world, imagination, consciousness, etc) be a oriental like or from anyother region of the world that is not america.. cause this iguana.. lives only there.

In resume: there will be another lizardmen, another specie of lizardmen we can say they will be the "cousins" of the mayan ones

Very cool project and I like the Rakshasa. I've always wondered why there aren't more figures drawing on Indian imagry.

Is there a launch date yet?

There are 2 options.. in the first days of august, or september.

Some final touches on streches and main goal numbers, to avoid budget problems, and 1 more sketch to do, and we might be ready and have 2 weeks to officially confirm the launch..

meanwhile i did a sketch of the Uralia champion (the russian-like humans)

and , not very notable, but, the changes in the lizardman scales..

also made desing for 20 25 and 20x50mm bases (that hopefully will be made in the near future in ABS plastic.

and the cute bases

thanks!

I wanted to tell that as for now, the goal is set at 4000 to make the first 4 miniatures.

And the pack of 4 miniatures, the 4 champions will be 28 dollars

The pack of 8, 52
And the pack of 12, 75

The single hero pack is 12 dollars and 5 shipping, but might receive up to 2 more miniatures free if the streatch goals and fabebook likes are reached.

The other pledges might receive 4 free miniatures , 1 exclusive and 3 ranmdon if the goals and FB likes are reached, each one coming with 1 round and 1 square metal base.

Any toughts? questions?

PS: a printed Akkiri elf champion pic will be posted in a coupe of days , to show the quality that is transfered from digital to solid medium.

Salutes!

Hi guys!, i have the first 3D print made, for example purpose of how the 3D becomes real. The 3D print is made by maxmini3d.eu

As you see it, that is what each miniature will be about: a multipart model with 1 square and 1 round base.

I remind you that you can check the draft (that have updates and corrections time to time, but its practically 90% done)

I'm curious about that Naga you've got tucked away in the stretch goals. My kind of figure.

Print looks good. Always nice to see things stray away from the safe and established Medieval European aesthetic.

Lots of interesting stuff

How about some Scythian style females - Amazons? Dark Elves?

Yes, there will be female characters for most of the factions, including the scythian (that in this case will be sarmatian, so i can also make arthurian-like mercenaries)

Ragarding to "dark elves": as menhir games aproach to fantasy is throught history and mithology, and NOT throught the high fantasy, the dark elves are the Akkiri factions, based in the assirians/mesopotamia, they had dark, destructive and bloodthirsty goods, built zigurats and had an advanced and sanguinary army (they made head piramids with the inhabitants of those cities that resisted to surrender).

Now it may look weird, but when concepts and coloured desings of units and strucutres are done, it will be more "understandable".

I repeat: the aproach to dantasy is not the "high" fantasy where you can see armourless female warriors and male warriors with unfunctional armours and weapons, this ill be fantasy, but with a real study made on armours, weapons and mithology of the ancient cultures.

well, you are lucky! haha, sarmatian male and female warrior will appear, i will think of doing them the exclusive and"secret" miniature to be that, a duo.

And has the akkiri are elf (iranian region, as the sarmatas are) you can bet they will be elfs.. not a factiosn but yes a subfaction/mercenaries inside the world..

The male would be heavy cavalry with lance, and the female light cavalry archer
