So here is what we have. We are running a small game in campaign style. Starts at 300pts and will progress. No lords allowed, must have one hero and all hero points cannot exceed 75 points (though they are 1/2 off for the first one). No magic items for week one, no casters over level 1 week one. Must have at least 75 points of core.

With those rules in place here is what I chose to run.

1x Skink Priest
12x Skink Skirmishers wJavalin and shield.
5x Cold One Riders w/spear and shield and a Champion.

I bought the brigade box and have those models to work from.

Let me know if you think something else may work better.

You have to have at least 3 units to play WHFB so unless your group is altering the minimum rules you need 1 more unit.

As for the skinks. skirmishers cannot take spears only cohorts and the poison upgrade is only as a last resort to fill points for how expensive it is.

Sink skirmishers when played right are a pain in the *** for any player to deal with and are awesome in small games. run 3 units of skirmishers. 2 with javalin and 1 with blow pipes. and a skink cheif on a terradon. thats 300 points before cutting your cheifs points in half if im understanding what you meant correctly. givem a shield, light armor and a spear so he gets a 3+ armor save and throw any extra points on more bodies for your blow pipe unit. your goal with this list is to avoid close combat and pew pew.

Dont wast your time with low point skink magic. IMO games this low lore of fire is by far the best which you cannot take. going beasts and heavens with one spell will not be enough to make a difference with one lvl 1

the only problems your going to have is if you play against elves. elves dominate low point games and theres not really anything you can do about it unless they are slowed and take no shooting.

Hes working from a battallion box and the unit minimum is only 2 since it is warbands.

ok so im guessing its your first time playing lizardmen so let me hit you with some knowledge as a lizzy player for years

1) Battalion box's are always a great way to get cheap models, BUT cold ones as cool as they look just dont cut it.
2) Dont fall into the monster trap! GW lowered point cost of all monsters and came out with new ones in a warmachine heavy game. Cant tell you how many stegadons never make it to close combat.
3) Skinks skinks skinks skinks! stats make them look crappy but are actually really good when learned how to use them properly.
4) Dont buy 100 saurus warriors like i did when i started. great cheap units but lack the versitility of skinks for more of the cost.
5) Cowboys. a single scar-vet on a cold one kitted out is a power house. cheap and hits like a truck. i usually run 3 in tournaments when allowed.
6) Terradons are awesome but $60 for 3 is just a kick in the nuts from GW. it hit my wallet hard but i picked up a few boxes
7) Everyone needs a Slaan. even if its just for fun games Slaans change your games and how they play. not as good as the old days sadly... RIP Cupped Hands :''''(

1. Cold ones can work at low points. They are great in fact. They just aren't great at higher points levels

2 stegadons are awesome IMHO. Yes people cannon them so what they do the same to every other monster

3 true I hate it but true skinks are very good

4 saurus have a role. Grinders

5 yep

6 the price for terradons and ripppers kills the wallet but you need em. Both. Just remember rippers are a flanking unit not a front charge.

7. Not true with tetto and a priest or two you can neutralize them while gettine a minor buff or 2 yourself.

Go to lustria-online there are many wise oldbloods to learn from.

Sorry meant Javalin on the skinks not spear.

So we are going to 400 this week. I am looking to move to 18 saurus with a Banner/Champion then go temple guard the week after. Any ideas?

You can't alter your list unless Adam is planning on letting you start over

If you can't alter your list can you ignore the normal minimum unit sizes? Otherwise you may have to have a chat with him as you don't have 100 points of anything else from the battalion. If you can ignore minimums go with 9 Saurus in a "Saurus cube" of 3x3. They can be a mini-anvil for your Cold Ones.

Or, (if allowed) bump up for wizard level on the priest and add in more Cold Ones if you can't break minimums.

Its warbands so the min unit size for saurus is only 3.

We have one guy running around with 6 individual ogre bulls. Absolutely hilarious and no one knows how to deal with it.

Poison, my skinks were rocking his ogres. The only reason I lost that game was because I couldn't make a 4+ save on my cold ones to save my life.

We can't change our opening list. I am just going to bump up to a 18 saurus tray with a standard and have the priest ride shotgun with them and wildform them to 5/5. Then the week after fill out the tray and start a tray of temple guard.

Im not altering my list, I am just using my points from this week to buy all sourus for the cube and get a standard. I will still have all the stuff I already have for 300.
