Well the 7th edition of 40k and GW prices has sadly dampered my interest in GW

Anyways I am turning to Warmachine. I really like the way Menoth models.
Also that they can run 3 to 4 jacks and still be competitive or at least that what I've been told.

Still really new to everything Warmachine just wondering what would be a good first buy for a Menoth player?

Battle Box

1 of each Heavy kit(magnetize)

unit of Choir

2 Vassals

Errants, TFG, or Zealots. All with UA. Pick any 2 and you'll do great.

Covenant of Menoth.

Rhupert Carvolo.

These things are the staple of any Menoth list.

Battlebox, or the Menoth half of the 2-Player box, plus a Choir and Vassal of Menoth (not to be confused with the Vassal Mechanik) is definitely the best start, as it gives you a 15pt (or 25pt with the 2player set) force straight off the bat.

The list Grey Templar has mentioned there is also a great core to get started with, as the models listed are very easy to fit into many different styles of list, though you'll find as you get into the game that there's a lot of variety in what you can take for any opportunity. Almost all of our stuff has a place and purpose, and can find their way into a few lists, with juuust a few exceptions (Castigator, Cinerators, Deliverers, Vigilant and Scourge of Heresy are all outclassed by other options for their role).

Zealots with the right combinations can be very mean.

1) Bastions are the same cost.

2) They have 2 special abilities, both of which require your opponent to "be stupid". One requires your opponent to clump his guys up, the other requires that he shoot your Cinerators(but not kill them) A competent opponent will just let them slog across the table till he can charge them himself and just kill them outright.

3) Bastions abilities are amazing. Reach gives them 1.5 extra inches of threat, Blessed is just an awesome ability, and Sanguine Bond actually lets them get into melee despite their slow speed. Plus they have a support solo who heals them.

Yeah, Cinerators aren't outright bad per se, there's just nothing they do better than bastions unless your opponent allows, so they're generally outclassed. They suffer in the direct comparison.

If you get the 2 player box though, you can easily convert Cinerators to Bastions, if you can get a halberd of any sort
