Hello,
I've recently bought the open fire boxed set and have a question about shot allocation to platoons with teams left behind. This has happened once or twice so far. I have left behind a firefly tank team to cover while the rest of my platoon and the platoon command tank move ahead. In one instance the lone firefly was a long way from the body of the platoon (almost at opposite ends of the board).
For the purposes of allocating hits, does the tank that is left behind, and out of command distance, get treated as a separate platoon? Can the lone tank be targeted? Or do the normal hit allocations take effect here? ie the whole platoon is shot at and hits are allocated to closest teams (tanks advancing) before furthest away (firefly tank remaining stationary and providing covering fire).

Thanks for your help

As I understand it the team left behind is part of the platoon for the purpose of allocating hits.

However the normal rules apply to the order hits are allocated, and if the firing units cannot see the team(s) left behind they cannot allocate hits to it. If one or two firing teams can see it but the rest can't, have them rolled individually.

I find if a team is left behind whatever is firing can generally hit one part or the other but seldom both anyway.

But it is still part of the same platoon, so will be pinned when the rest are etc, may or may not make much sense but is far too easy to exploit if done differently.
