So there's a 1500pt Purge the Alien tournament this weekend, and I'd like to try out my CSM. I haven't gotten around to writing up a full list yet. Here is what I have to start, this is all off the top of my head so please excuse the fact that I don't have points listed. Thanks for your input.

Seems good atm, not sure of the ADL thou, doesn't seem to be any troop manning it, maybe if you add autocannon havocs so that the champion can man it

I was thinking of doing Havocs with autocannons rather than obliterators, and to save points.

I was also thinking of dropping the rhinos and making the plague marines 7 man squads, so the unit is more durable. Plus, despite the new vehicle damage chart, rhinos are still easy kill points.

I still have to add up the points I have here, move stuff around and see what I have left to play with. Thanks for the input!

If you drop the rhinos thou, the only unit that will be rushing to combat will be the bikes and therefore they'll have to survive the whole enemy army shooting at them. With the rhinos you can take the bikes out of LoS so that they can avoid being hit by the heavy fire units.

They are indeed easy killpoints thou

Leaving my bikes and lord to be slaughtered was my other concern. It seems to be two different strategies. If I had more points I could compensate a bit.

I'm also trying to play to the mission type by using durable units, and reducing the available kill points my opponents can claim.

No one else has any suggestions?

Been looking through my stuff and I don't think I have quite enough bikes, maybe enough for a lord and one small unit. So I may have to go with Typhus and a deep striking squad of combi melta termiea, if I can find the points grab a land raider.

My other option is to do Noise Marines with sonic weapons. Though for Purge the Alien, I think the toughness 5 with FNP will do better.

To fit with the nurgle theme, consider nurgle herald and some plaguebearers. Herald is BS5 so shooting the quad will be easy. Give them FNP and you have 2+ cover with FNP manning an objective and AA gun. It's pretty solid.

Unfortunately, I don't have any daemons and the tournament is Saturday. So, I have to stick with pure CSM.

Something I have thought about doing for 1500 pts. and Nurgle would be a termie lord with LC and CM to deep strike in with 5 identical terminators. I have thought about running a bike lord, but I think he is just too easy to kill that way IMO. I think 5x Plague Marines are probably the best to run, keep em cheap and put them in a rhino and melta blast some tanks. Two heldrakes will be dominant. Looks good to me though!

You also might wanna drop the oblits for the havocs, I prefer autocannons.

I'll be switching the Obliterators for Havocs. The extra firepower and points will help.

I'll have to dig through my box of chaos models to see if I have a terminator lord that would fit my needs, and save some points instead of using Typhus.

Looks good, lots of high T models moving forward with support from the autocannons. I'd just worry about Tau, eldar and necrons with their thousand high str high ap shots, being able to wound your T5 and T6 is 2's and 3's will hurt so try to get into cc asap. Same with loyalist centurions.

Hopefully my bikes and rhinos can rush into a decent position so that they won't get shot up.

Something I had thought about was dropping the second squad of bikes, and adding a few bikes to the first squad. If I did that, I could probably have the points to add the sorcerer.

The problem is that if I use the army as Crimson Slaughter, I wouldn't get the Black Mace. If I did a combined arms detachment, as I understand, I would then have to find points to add more troops.
