Here's and idea I have floating in my head for Michigan GT in October.

-Vulkan Hestan

-Dreadnought/AC/HF-drop pod with deathwind
-Dreadnought/AC/HF-drop pod with deathwind
-X5 Sternguard/3CombiMelta/2MG-drop pod with deathwind

-X5 Tactical Marines/Flamer/Combiflamer-Drop pod with deathwind
-X5 Tactical Marines/Meltagun/CombiMelta-Drop pod with deathwind
-X5 Tactical Marines-Drop pod

-X10 Assault marines/2 flamers-Drop pod with deathwind
-X10 Assault marines/2 falmers-Drop pod with deathwind

-TFC
-TFC
-TFC

28 Template weapons in this force, drop pod assault with the dreadnoughts and stern guard turn one, with a tactical squad coming with them. Next turn send the bare bones tac squad to secure an objective, send the other tac squad to reinforce the dreads. Idea is that the thunderfires and death winds will just annihilate any infantry and dreadnoughts/stern guard can deal with tanks and heavy infantry. Assault Squads come in with flamers and kill troops heading for objectives. Vulkan comes in with one of the tactical squads and flames some guys then weed whacks. Also, having death winds on a drop pod force my opponent to deal with them. Especially when there's 7 of them.

So what do you think? I feel Im only lacking in AA but the assault cannons should help a bit. Then again, if there's no army left turn two and only fliers I really don't care about them lol.

I like the list. Lovin' tripple TFCs! I think you will find that there are lots of transports protecting infantry now though, and might want to drop some assault marines to load-up the tac squads with all the meltas you can get. I think you will have to pop a few more transports to allow the TFCs to beat down their infantry.

Would the Dreadnoughts be better off with MMs?

I see what you mean. Yeah I guess I can switch the flamers out for meltas, and save 40 switching assault cannons to multi melta

Dreadnoughts for salamanders are better with multi meltas because they will be twinlinked as opposed to the heavy flamer which do not benifit from chapter tactics, a stupid rule maybe but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If I am mistaken someone please let me know.

with the points shaving why not upgrade the dreads to iron clads... people really hate when you drop in more then one on their side of the board... and IMO i'd rather have full tact squads over full assault aquads

I tested out the list yesterday against IG. He was running a pask punisher and a executioner +conscript and IG blobs. Also 2 vendettas. 4 objectives on the table. The TFC annihilated the guard blobs and the assault squads with double flamers cleaned up the rest. I combat squaded them so they could seek out objectives after the infantry was gone and they each secured one. The dreads came down and smoked pask, while the stern guard took care of the executioner. The barebones tac squad dropped on an objective and left the drop pod to contest another while the pod held it. Deathwind launchers worked great, but im considering cutting them for increased troop numbers.

I mostly ignored the vendettas untill the last couple turns and managed to bring one down. They concentrated on my TFCs the whole game, both in 3+ cover due to bolster def. They did a wound to 2 cannons. Thats it;
