We've not been idle at Secret Weapon HQ -- together with Dark Arts Miniatures, we're happy to preview the upcoming line of Malice RPG tiles. These are modular, resin tiles and accessories to help you create dungeons -- and we have a LOT of them in the queue. Stay tuned....

These were sculpted by Klaus Teschner.

Some other tidbits: The first batch of these will be released without a Kickstarter, they'll be unpainted, and you'll get more for less than Dwarfen Forge.

Very nice looking.

Secret Weapon is apparently attempting to corner the market on "things you play games on top of."

Are these as heavy as that other company that used to do stuff like this? Dwarven Forge or whatever?

It's nearly done. Tiles are being sent to the ship and from there they'll be mailed out. Hopefully we'll see it complete by the end of the month with retail coming soonish after that. I guess he's not going to get tiles for GenCon which is a bummer. I know he could use the business after all this hard work.

A more realistic timeline for the Tablescapes is "hopefully before Christmas". There's no chance of it being complete by the end of the month.

Cyp - when you say "more for less" than DF, do you mean DF's KS prices or their retail prices?

I was pretty sure these were made and sold by Dark Art Miniatures, went over to their site just now and the section for these is empty. Interesting.

Same guy (Klaus Teschner) is involved, collaborating with Secret Weapon. More info. on his FB page:

Hm, don't think it's a coincidence that they release it just in time for DnD's 5th Edition. Good call.

I'll be watching this.

It'd be almost impossible to beat the prices from their first Kickstarter, imo.

Why won't someone do sci-fi tiles!? Grrrr... I'm spoiled for choice on dungeon tiles.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

These look fantastic, but I'll wait for the prices before I get my hopes up - loads of terrain looks amazing these days, the problem comes when you tote up how much it would cost to actually buy enough to make a usable table out of it.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Not bad... Will keep an eye on this. Solves some issues about making terrain for me.

I don't know pricing specifics, just a few tidbits from chatting with Justin. I'm going to assume he was talking about the retail pricing, but ya never know.

Why won't someone do sci-fi tiles!?

I was talking with someone about these at Adepticon, hopefully you'll see something for it by next Adepticon.

The problem with tiles like these are A. the walls make it hard for a player sitting down to see figure placement. You either have to have a low table, or everyone stands.

B. You can't draw magical effects on the floor to show magical fields of power, trap triggers etc.

C. Transportability

They look great, I'd love to play DnD on them, but they lack in practicality.

I wish those companies making gridded sectional white boards would hurry up and finish their products....

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

That is some damn sweet terrain.

I don't play P&P RPGs at the moment, so I have no use for a dungeon set up, but I am wondering if these wouldn't be a cheaper alternative for a Zone Mortalis board.

Feels like it's the other way round for me. Though at least shipping is muy reasonable for a change.

Ooh, I will be snatching up a pack of jack o' lanterns though.

Doesn't seem too bad. Of course, for a typical D&D dungeon you'll need 4-10 sets. 1-2 of those sets could have good use on a Wargames table as a series of ruined buildings, though. Especially if the doors can be removed from their doorframes.

What are they made of again?

That price honestly looks close to a non-kickstarter price dwarven forge set. And given that there are places that sell secret weapon for 30% off, that's a good deal.

Remember to pick up some SW Schaff brushes while you're at it. These brushes are similar to Raphael 8404's, and are about the same price as on DickBlick.

EDIT: And some Soft Body Black wash! (: That stuff is great for general-purpose tabletop blacklining and pre-inking!

I'm waiting for a tablescapes version with modular plastic wall parts that snap-fit into grooves or peg holes between the spaces.

I really wish I could see all the pieces as individual parts. I want to make some dungeon tiles from these since the price is right, but I want to know how limited those options will be and how much modification I will need to expect to do.

Mainly I can't tell by the tile descriptions if the floors and walls are connected or not. Also, if the doors are openable or removable or not as I see two similar arches, one open, one closed.

They are openable, but the door won't swing without a pin installed into it.

That's cool, I can do those mods... As long as I don't have to hacksaw a door out of an arch.

My Snakemen need a temple of gold and this stuff looks awesome for that.

Seems more like an add-on set to a standard crypt/dungeon set. I couldn't see myself buying enough of those to build a full dungeon crawl

Old thread, but I just got a set! The image doesn't suggest it, but the pieces make *great* dungeon accessories, including boardgames.

Doors don't need pinning.
