So now that Grey Knights is out and paladins got jacked, I have yet to see a unit that can compare to a kitted out Death Company Squad. Space Wolf Thunderwolf Cavalry is probably the closest thing I can think of. 150 S9 AP2 attacks on the charge is still impressive.

Add Lemartes there for re-rolls to hit and wounding.

Something like 2500 points. Of course you could give them all Jump Packs to make it 3000.
Altough it's debatable if the second TH is needed

For that price tag, I can get 16 LRBTs. Or five hundred Guardsmen.

Or 15 Wave Serpents + 5 Dire Avengers in each.

Or something like 750 Acolytes.

I don't think anyone has ever claimed them to be cost-effective. Just effective. And hilarious. Mostly hilarious.

I can agree with that. Per man, yeah, probably the most effective.

Five Baneblades.

But yeah, gotta love the double hammer DC.

Paladins got jacked? Nay good sir. Paladins are possibly the only unit that remained the same. The only difference is the Halberds. Fighting against either of those units Paladins are still striking simultaneously and wounding on 3+ or 4+. Hammerhand active makes it 2+ in both cases. For 2ppm. Plus we have the Banner for more attacks and are unaffected by Psycannon changes. For equivalent points as your 30 model JP Thunder Hammer Squad I could get 25 odd Paladins with all the goodies. You'll suffer from the 10 Psycannon shots, the 15 Storm Bolter and then melee as well. Plus, I can split my Paladins to have 5x 5 man squads and maximise WC for Hammerhand, also forcing you to lose your bonus attacks from Rage assaulting more than 5 guys per turn or simply assault 5 guys per turn, lose some models and get shot and charged by 4 squads the next turn.

Against Thunderwolves its a little tougher but the smaller squad size means we can take you out easier with Force. You are still Int 4. Hammerhand and Halberds means 2+ to wound, no armour saves unless you went points heavy for SS and PF on every model. Again, loads of shooting and Overwatch on Paladins behalf followed by all our simulataneous attacks, MSU, WC and all the rest means Paladins are still a pretty solid unit, even taking on units of similar costs to them. And no, I am not referring to LoW (and not like Draigo, Logan or Ghaz either). I mean Titans and Shadowswords.

Council of Waaagh!

Ghazghull Thrakka
Mad Doc Grotznik
2 Warbosses, MA, Attack Squigs one can have the relic claw for an extra attack
1 Big Mek, MA, Killsaw, Mega KFF
10 Nobz, Warbikes, PKs, Waaagh! Banner

If one of Thrakka's three warlord traits is rage, you get:
Average T5, 20 WS8 S10 AP2 attacks, 62 WS6 S9 AP2 attacks (7 of those armorbane), 2+ Armor/5+ FNP/4++ against shooting, 2++ for the duration of the Waaagh.

In direct combat, the DC would outnumber them, so there would be another d3 attacks for each model due to rampage

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

If all the shoota boys could shoot they would take out about 20 of those DC in a single round of shooting. That doesn't even include rokkits.

If you wan to talk about best lists, go make a thread or read the 89 that already exist.
This thread is about strongest unit, guys. Unit.

So über combo with three different units and seven buffmander HQ's doesn't count here (okay, one IC is easily justified).

Btw, how many Paladins can you fit in a single unit...?

The last two are units created by formations from the Waaagh! Ghazghkull supplement - Council of Waaagh and Green Tide. I simply assumed that not everyone reading this has the W!G book, so I listed its content. You can't take that many nobz in a tide though, but you could take up to 290 boyz + 10 nobz + warboss as a single unit.
