Most of it boils down to "it depends." Certain items aren't popular except based on which printing it is. For example, the original 'Brown Books' D&D are more valuable in earlier printings before Tolkien IPs were changed (hobbits became halflings, ents became treants, etc.). Deities & Demigods is more valuable than Legends & Lore, even though they are the same book, just rebranded (and if Deities & Demigods is an edition that contains Cthulhu and Melnibonean sections, it tends to fetch significantly more still).

Best bet, research what you have on The Acaeum. It's a repository of information on the various printings, as well as how to identify printing when a clear printing isn't listed in the book.

I'm from the future. The future of space

The adventures usually sell reliably as they're the most useful thing that can't be instantly replaced by a modern retroclone. People who are into old D&D usually want the actual adventure books and like introducing new players to these old modules.

Nothing looks to be rare or hard to find to the point that it would be worth hundreds for just one title, but I think you have a reasonable collection to flip at a profit if that's what you're looking for.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

The temple of elemental compilation book should be worth something, as I remember they go for a decent price on eBay. As said before the legends and lore book can be worth something if you have the right book. The Harn book is the other book I would look in to, most had a low print run and currently most are OOP. Palladium isn't worth much because most of it never went out of print, you can still buy some of their oldest books freshly printed

More if they have the map book intacted, tucked into the back.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

the master set is about $40 and the Dragonlance modules can fetch around the same individually to collectors. Everything else is $20 or under, most hovering around 10-15.

Really depends on condition, the world is lousy with worn out copies.

Remember that the early 80's is D&D's heyday, tons of copies were printed. But pristine ones are really the only ones ( barring certain exceptions) that are worth a significant amount.

eta: and by significant amount, I mean cover price or a bit more.

A trick for selling on eBay is to search for auctions of the things you want to sell. If an item does well, offer your copy of the item to the person who came second in the auction.

That way you identify the market and price very easily.

KK, have you sold on eBay in a while?
It's anonymous, now. You can't see the actual bidder IDs any more. Only the seller can see everyone who bid.

Not sold anything for a year or two. My cunning method would not work any more. :-(

An excellent acquisition.

The Companion and Master set are somewhat difficult to find intact and in good condition.

T1-4 is important and worth a good bit of money.

The following are also important modules, and depending on their condition, should bring in money:

WG4 The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun
Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits
S2 White Plume Mountains
G1-2-3 Against the Giants
S4 The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth
I1 Dwellers of the Forbidden City
S1 Tombs of Horrors

I'd check out the Greyhawk fansite of Canonfire to see if anyone is willing to take the lot off your hands, if selling is your goal. I have all of the items listed, in multiples, so I'm not in the market personally.

edit: and your post was what broke me of years as a lurker. go figure.

Holy crap I need to check my basement!
Sounds like you have most of the advice you need. If the box sets for example have the unused crayons that can be a big selling point. Also, Dieties and Demigods with the Cthulhu mythos are rare, and fetch a better price. (Copywrite infringement caused a quick reprint)
